Our Mammoth condo is located in the Summit complex - across and down the street from Eagle Lodge (chair 15) -- a 1 bedroom that sleeps 6, with a queen bed in the bedroom, a queen sleeper sofa and a bunk bed (full bed on the bottom, twin bed on top) in the living room. There is underground parking with an assigned space, elevator service, a couple of jacuzzis right outside the building, a nice weight room (as if skiing or boarding or biking or hiking wasn't enough exercise for you!) and a laundry room down the hallway. The shuttle stops right outside the building door (seasonal service; first stop from the mountain resort/Eagle Lodge in wintertime) if you don’t want to walk up the street. There is also a fireplace in the unit and a full kitchen, and in the summertime, the tennis courts and pools are open. We are not a reservations company; we are private owners of this condo, hence we can charge much lower rates!
We are not a reservations company (we did contract with one but their service and cleaning were not impressive), just a family who own a vacation condo we use as a family getaway ourselves and also rent out to others to help cover the mortgage.
Nancy Oliphant purchased this condo in 2004
We stayed in many different condo complexes in Mammoth before settling on The Summit to buy a unit in, appreciating the garage parking (no digging the car out under snow!), elevators (no lugging gear up flights of stairs at high altitude!) and close proximity to the resort. The pools and amenity areas are kept clean by the staff and we love having jacuzzis and the bus stop right outside our building.
For those like a hard bed this would work great, but for us the bed was just to hard also the shower faucet didn't work well at all and their was mold on the ceiling. Other than these issues the condo was very quiet and close to everything.
A perfect mountain condo for our long weekend snowboarding trip to Mammoth Mountain! Loved the location and within walking distance to The Eagle Lodge Lift, doesn't get any better than that. Everything all set and ready for our arrival, very easy to get in and out of. Underground covered parking was definitely a bonus. The owner was fantastic and very responsive in making sure we were taken care of. Loved the VHS movies! Would definitely recommend this condo to others.
We were pleasantly surprised to find this unit when we selected the filter to a price range of $125 or less. It was worth every penny! The unit is dated, but clean. The complex has many amenities. The location is desirable; literally just a few steps away from the last tram stop to Chair 15. The owner communicates well and is very accommodating. It's all you need to complement wonderful skiing at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. We will definitely be back...
Excellent place. Outstanding location! Nancy was extremely helpful with answering all our questions. Would highly recommend staying here.
We loved this condo so much we just booked our 2nd trip here only 2 weeks after the 1st trip.
Things we like about it:
- being close to Eagle Express means you can sleep in a little longer
- perfect for our family of 4. Lots of room to relax. Good size living room
- kids love the bunk bed. The parents love the 1 bedroom
- bathroom sink outside of bathroom. Makes getting ready easy for multiple people.
- kitchen is perfect for saving money on eating out. Great appliances.
- great inside parking garage to make loading and unloading easy in snowy weather
- easy access to restaurants and Vons market
- 1 small thing my wife and I always look for in both rentals and hotels: hooks to hang your clothes especially in adverse weather locations. This condos has plenty of these.
- great fireplace (but did not use). Heaters sufficiently warm the entire condo.
- cable and WiFi Internet provided
- lots of games, puzzles, and videos
- clean as expected
- well-maintained. Nothing was broken
Very minor cons (expected for the price):
- cosmetically older bathroom. Functionally perfect.
- CRT TV (didn't bother us, works fine)
- older DVD/VCR player (works fine)
- bar stools a little short for the little ones (just meant they have to sit at the dining table only)
Best of all, great value and very responsive owner. Good communication and owner took care of us while we're there. If you're looking for an affordable place and comfort and easy access is your main objectives, this is THE condo.
Our family of 3 stayed for 3 nights this Christmas. The unit is clean and comfortable. It has everything we needed and more. The kitchen is small but very well equipped, the pots and pans and utensils are of nice quality though we didn't take advantage of them. We just prepared simple breakfast in the mornings. The living room is very spacious. We particularly enjoyed the collection of board games that the owner has in the unit. Even though it's a one bedroom unit, there is a double/twin bunk bed next to the dining area, and a sofa bed in the living room, the unit can accommodate 6-7 people. The bathroom is a bit dated, but everything works. Water is hot and the pressure is fine. Also, WiFi is fast in comparison to other places that we've stayed. Perhaps the only improvement that can be made is the heating system in the bedroom: the wall heater takes time to heat up so it was a bit cold, but thankfully there are lots of extra comforters and blankets in the closet that we can use.
Nancy is very responsive and easy to talk to. We are glad that we got to stay in this condo, will definitely recommend it.
