Such an amazing find - better than imagined

  • 5 of 5

My partner, his two teenagers and I travelled to Vietri sul mare for the half term break. The plan was to explore the Amalfi coast and surrounding area, and experience Pompeii, without hiring a car.

The villa Asteria is situated up a private drive directly off the Amalfi Highway, with buses stopping for both directions at the gated entrance. Easy to find. And a very reasonable transfer by taxi from Naples airport, booked online prior to leaving.

The villa is breathtaking. Far more spacious and inspiring than the pictures can convey; beautiful outdoor gardens, lemon and orange groves, and terraces to enjoy, with even a track leading to incredible villages further up the hill side.

It was superbly fitted out with all one could require. We so enjoyed preparing and eating meals in the wonderful kitchen.

Anna Maria, the owner, really made the difference to how our week went. Her kindness and thoughtfulness , even before we arrived, were so helpful, with loads of information sent by emails. She greeted us on arrival, and remained available whenever we needed her.

Anna Maria introduced us to Valentina and Nicola, who were able to provide us with transportation on tap if needed, local knowledge and fantastic private guides to various sites, including Pompeii with transport included from our door. Indeed, our return travel to an apartment in Naples overnight prior to flight out was only made possible with Nicola’s driving and communication skills and ability to search out the address. Thank you.

We were able to travel, and dine very easily wherever we went, with wonderful restaurants in Vietri and nearby Salerno. The boat trip along the coast to Capri was really worth the effort, even with the force 3 gales providing almost too much excitement!

We left Asteria after 8 nights, wishing we had more time. We also felt as if we had made real friends. We will be back ……

Bella Italia - dream holidays on the Amalfi-coast

  • 5 of 5

In August 2016 we (Family of 5) spent 1 week in the Villa Asteria. In the nicely furnished house we felt very comfortable. It meets all the requirements of space, cleanliness and comfort. The most amazing thing for me was the view of the Amalfi Coast. From the balcony, terrace, living room, kitchen, you see the steel blue Mediterranean Sea and the coast.

2 beaches are to reach on foot from the house, the purchases must be done with the car. There are many ways in Vietri sul mare and neighboring villages to find a restaurant.

The owner is very friendly, helpful and reliable and has given us many tips.

It is with both the car and the train relatively quickly in Napoli, Pompei, Paestum ... and has so many ways to pass the time.

We can definitely recommend the Villa Asteria. The holiday was great!

A Gem on the Amalfi Coast!

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous spacious house, tastefully furnished with panoramic views.

The owner was extremely helpful and used her personal knowledge of the area to give us loads of tips and all the information we needed and much more. Her help was invaluable and added a lot to our stay.

There is a steep path down to get to Vietri and Vietri beach, and once there you can walk along the beach to Vietri itself.

We loved traveling by bus to other towns along the coast. We walked to Vietri regularly to get supplies, shopping etc. There's a great walk up to a couple of small villages on the hill above the house (Raito and Albori)

Vietri itself is a really charming, lovely wee place, and not nearly as busy with tourists as other towns on the Amalfi coast.

We would recommend this house to people who like to walk and explore, and who prefer the less touristy villages and countryside. We loved the location and the property itself, and we were so great full for all the help the owner gave us to make our stay fantastic!

Wonderful holiday in Vietri sul mare

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful large house with panoramic views from the upper and lower patios, very spacious, nicely furnished, well equipped. I would definitely come back, and would recommend this place to people who like to walk - there is a steep climb up and down to Vietri sul mare if visitors don't have a car. The property was a great fit for our group of four as we enjoy walking and being away from tourism.

There is a nice swimming beach below the house.

We walked to Vietri almost daily, took the SITA bus to Amalfi and Cetara, and walked to Raito and Albori from a private footpath behind the house.

We had many lovely meals at local restaurants and cooked some ourselves!

AnnaMaria was extremely helpful in every way, met us at train station in Salerno and arranged for a driver to the house, took us shopping in Salerno, provided tons of information about local sites. She responded to all our questions very quickly.

Traditional Italian Charm at its best

  • 5 of 5

For stunning views, personal space and charm by the bucket load the Villa Asteria in Vietri Sul Mare has it all. This is not a modern, faceless, ‘could-be-anywhere’ apartment. With Villa Asteria you get a traditional Italian home that’s been in the family for 4 generations. With décor reminding you of the charm of the Amalfi coast when American movie stars swept along the rocky coast road in Italian sports cars. The Villa itself even featured in a movie at that time. The views are spectacular, an evening spent on the terrace sipping wine overlooking Vietri, Salerno and the coast south can never be tired of.

In august the Amalfi coast is hectic, mad even, but the tranquillity of Villa Asteria is just the break you need from all the busy world below. Lying in a hammock in the lemon groves or soaking up the sun on the terrace. Your car parked at the end of the gated private driveway is the envy of many who have to squeeze into any gap possible along the narrow busy coast road.

In Villa Asteria one feels privileged as well as grateful to have been given the run of the place for the time you are there. This Villa is large, spacious and airy. Great vaulted ceilings really deserve 4 poster beds though standard beds are here. Three bathrooms give residents plenty of options.

The living room and kitchen have doors opening onto the stunning terrace with flowering pot plants and this is the place where you’ll spend much of your time because it’s hard to drag yourself away from it.

Being a traditional house there are some things you might need to know. There is no microwave or air conditioning, but you do get a fridge freezer, washing machine, showers and the traditional charm of a real Italian home. These little bits that are missing are more than made up for by the location.

Set on a hillside between Vietri and Raito, the Villa Asteria is accessed off the main coast road. There are footpaths down to the beaches and coastline. And up to the hills and villages. Being situated at the start of the Amalfi coast road it ideally placed to visit further along the Amalfi coast as well as inland to the ancient sites, Naples, and South. Salerno is a few minutes drive away for some city night life. Vietri has a lively tourist restaurant scene. A visit to Naples is a must. Only an hour by car and the parking’s easy.

I can honestly say that our visit to Villa Asteria was really one of the best. A stunning property with a beautiful and practical location. I would not hesitat
