Love at first sight! Supreme sunrises with sunlight flooding through a wall of windows overlooking the largest bay on Lake Ontario. Boat or drive to our favorite spots... Gastronomic delights such as Lancaster's 'Helluva Good' Cheese Stand with XXX sharp cheddar and homemade fruit pies; Orchard View Farm market; fine dining at Baystreet Hotel or burgers and barbecue with live music at Captain Jacks. 3 miles to historic Sodus Point with lifeguarded sandy beach, Sunday concerts on the lawn at the Lighthouse museum, free outdoor movies on the local baseball diamond, ice cream and 'hots'... Wine tasting at wineries throughout the Finger Lakes region; rainy day visit to a Rochester museum or spa; day trip to Niagara Falls, fabulous bargain finds at antique stores, ... the list goes on.
We've pampered this vintage 1952 cottage. Adorned with period proper treasures: rattan sectional seating circa 1950, sea captain's trunk stores extra bedding, nautical bedroom set of solid rock maple, Heywood Wakefield dining ensemble seats 10... this charmer is updated for aesthetic sensibilities. Gorgeous travertine and limestone complements the original heart pine flooring throughout, cathedral ceiling in Great Room lends an airy openness that accents the hand-built lake stone fireplace, kitchen with vaulted ceiling, granite counter tops and breakfast bar, newly remodeled bathrooms with tumbled marble and Kohler fixtures, ceiling fans to catch the breezes, plenty of outdoor furniture to lounge on, dine, and gaze at the spectacular view of the stars and Sodus Bay! What's not to love?

Our family includes Cooper, our standard poodles who didn't make it into the photo but is very much in our lives. Aurora owns a day spa, Fred is the CEO for a behavioral health company, and Cody recently graduated from Towson University in Baltimore.
Living on the Chesapeake Bay for the past 26 years we thrive on the unique beauty of America's waterways and waterfront living.
Considering retirement years we knew that we'd want to go where our hearts are, in upstate New York. With Rochester and Syracuse within an hour we can fly in, or partake of the city for a great restaurant, art, or shopping. Vermont,Montreal and Toronto a days drive away!
Come share our dream !!
Aurora or Fred purchased this house in 2007
We have been coming to Sodus Bay for over 20 years. Re-uniting with family and bringing in-laws and friends, we get to share our love for the perfect place to go back in time. The towns, the beach, the neighbors and even the weather seem to be the way I remember it from childhood. That is, a slower pace where the person behind the cash register stops to chat; real peace and quiet with thousands of stars; no need to lock the doors; warm sunny days with low humidity; wild flowers bursting with color by the side of the road...Of course there's endless water from the Bay to Lake Ontario to the Finger Lakes and the Erie Canal.
Having a spectacular view of Sodus Bay from sunrise to moonrise is unbelievably joyful. You know you're in the right place and it's always the right time. Of course our company often like to fish off our dock which means dinner is super fresh. Just a short way around the Bay we find the best homemade fruit pies we've ever eaten. My cousins can be found at the Sodus Golf Club-gorgeous rolling green acres, while my son joins the poker games there twice a week. The younger set are happy at the miniature golf course and we're all up for one of the local ice cream spots. Superlatives abound!
This was our third year renting this beautiful house. We love the open floor plan and kitchen that allows us to cook amazing dinners while being together as a family. The deck is large and private and the views of the lake are great. There's nothing like a cup of coffee on the deck in the morning looking at the lake that looks like glass. This year we saw a bald eagle fly by almost everyday. Our children love the open space in the house and on the deck. And having the dock to rent a boat is key. Thank you again for a great vacation!!! We will be back!
Our family spent four nights here in mid-June and we were not disappointed. The cottage feel comes through with the array of personal touches throughout this spacious home. The deck is as good as it gets with comfortable chairs to lounge while overlooking a gorgeous view of Sodus Bay. The nearby tourist area at Sodus Point is well worth the short ride if you want to get off the compound....but why would you?
My family and I had an excellent time at this Sodus Bay vacation rental. The house was very nice and well-equipped with everything we would need. The back deck allowed for incredible views of the bay and was probably the favorite part of my vacation. We also had a lot of fun fishing every day from the dock. We rented a motor boat from a nearby boating shop to explore the bay. The location offered plenty to do as it was close enough to the beach, restaurants, and wineries (in Geneva). We would recommend this rental to any family or group of friends looking for a relaxing and fun vacation.
My family and i stayed at this beautiful property for a week, wish we had more time! The house was beautiful and we were very impressed with our beautiful views. My nephew enjoyed fishing off the dock and was up early every morning! When we left to visit town we passed apple orchards and produce stands we just felt at home being from a farming area ourselves. So many things to do and see (Sodus Bay Lighthouse, wineries for me! SeaBreeze Amusement Park, and Niagara Falls only 2hrs.away).The owner had a nice list of local restaurants (just needed a breakfast place),some winery maps, and other brochures.I would definately recommend the property to family and friends wanting to explore the area. The house has modern touches without loosing its charm, and is well maintained inside and out including landscaping. We had a very nice rapport with the owner who touched base with us to make sure we were comfortable.
I can truly say my families only complaint was lack of laundry for guests (a listing of laundry mats would be helpfull).
When we walked through the front door, everyone's reaction was WOW!!! Look at that view. It was that amazing view we would all wake up to every morning. The house gets the morning sun so that means by mid afternoon the back patio has nice shade and is cool and comfortable in the evening. We rented a 22 ft pantoon and my brother docked his 18foot fishing boat. The deck had and entrance on both sides, so on the right we construction a fenced in area for the dogs to do their business and still be safe. We used the other entrance for people to venture down to the boat area. There was a lot of steps but by the end of the trip we were all in better shape from going up and down to the boat 3 times a day. Everything was very clean when we arrived. Enjoyed the sandbar, watched sunsets on Lake Ontario, did tubing, fishing and knee boarding. Plenty to do for all ages. A great relaxing place! Everyone had such a good time, we are already planning next year.
We were looking for a house on the lake to stay the week between two "bookend weddings" in Rochester the weekend before and after our stay. This house was perfect! The views of the lake from the large front deck and the open great room are incredibly amazing and beautiful! We enjoyed coffee on the deck watching the sun rise every morning! In addition to the gorgeous view of the lake from the deck, we enjoyed all the lovely landscaping and the wide range of birds we saw daily - eagles, humming birds, finches, orioles, swans .... the list goes on and on! The house itself is beautiful. The dock is large and sturdy and was convenient for docking our boat and kayak. We would recommend a trip to the chimney bluffs! What an incredible sight! Guests should be aware that there are numerous steps to get down to the lake. People with limited mobility would have a hard time navigating them, but for most of us it wasn't a problem. Overall, we loved the property, had a wonderful week, and would definitely go back again!!
