Grew up near the Utah (him) and NH (her) mountains and missed them when we moved to Cape Cod. Needed to have a little getaway near the Swift River and ('Kank') and King Pine where our kids learned to ski & skate and we got back into it.
Noreen Thompsen purchased this house in 2006
Loved the quiet rural feel of this house where you can hear deer and walking through the woods at night and NO TRAFFIC noise.
We fell in love with the pine walls and beams and when the builder we hired to add the pine sunroom suggested we do a pine ceiling in there too we thought he was brilliant! Walking in 2 + acres the woods behind the house also gives a great dose of nature.
This house was just awesome. It had everything we could possibly need in it.There were even safety vests for during hunting season.Extremely clean, well maintained and had all the necessities. We would highly recommend this house to our friends, as it was just a lovely atmosphere. We came here for a girl's quilting weekend and we will definitely return in the future. We loved it so much -we quilted a runner for our hosts. They were so attentive, friendly, and truly wanted our stay at their home away from home to be a great one! They were great and so is this house.
House is very private on a wooded lot. Very homey with a well stocked kitchen, large LR, and nice bed rooms. Is close to Fryburg, ME which is a lovely small town. Great location for visiting the White Mountains as well as the outlets in North Conway, NH. Thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay there. Would recommend to my friends if the need arises.
after being on cape cod for the summer,we were looking forward to a nice quiet and relaxing few days in maine.....we were not disappointed!!!!
the house was situated in mixed hardwood forest ....we saw deer and wild turkey when we took walks in the back 4 acres....we were tired of seeing seals....
the insde of the house was clean and in order......kitchen well stocked....washer and dryer available for when we got caught in the rain....living room had a large sofa ....wide screen tv and the a beautful carpet....the bedroom was extremely comfortable ....had many a good night's sleep
the location was perfect.....far enough away from north conway for solitude but close enough for sightseeing and shopping....kancamangus trail nearby for walking and swimming....once again away from the crowds....our best day was a car ride up thru the white mtn trail to see mt washington from the north....had a picnic on a stream that not alot of people have ever seen.....lots of outlet stores in north conway ....not only for me but for my wife....saved money for quality clothes
after each long day, it was perfect to return to ,once again, peace and quiet!!!
will look into doing some skiing in the winter
A great place to start from to explore the White Mountains of NH, the house is just 25 minutes from the entrance to the Kancamagus Highway and the Swift River and 20 minutes to North Conway. On the 'Kank' stop at Lower Falls and sit under the falls for a natural jacuzzi or hike at the Rocky Gorge or Sabaday Falls stops. A stop at Bridgton, ME to wander downtown or visit Reny's Store or the nearly new Magic Lantern movie theater with great sound system is also a treat and just 10-15 minutes from the house. There are many great family style and more challenging ski resorts all within 20-40 minutes. Rent a kayak and launch at the public launch just one mile from the house.
Other Activities: outlet shopping, Fryeburg Fair, near Fryeburg Academy. Also near Stone Mountain Resort, Brownfield, ME for concerts by top performers.
