Annie never considered becoming an innkeeper before she found Soundview in 2005. It 'came with the territory' and she thought she'd honor the existing reservations to see how she liked it. Yes! It's a fit.
Soundview is a separate guest house about 40 feet away from her own home. Both have the same spectacular view of mountains, islands and Puget Sound. In this quiet, peaceful setting, eagles glide through the tall trees and sailboats and cargo ships parade through the channel below.
Annie Phillips purchased this cottage in 2005
Soundview can be romantic, inspiring, or restorative. It's a home away from home for travelers, honeymooners, birthday or anniversary celebrants, and parents coming to meet the new bride or baby. Soak in the private hot tub, laze in the famously comfy kingsize bed, cook a feast in the complete kitchen or visit one of several excellent local restaurants. It's convenient to the airport and to downtown Seattle - yet amazingly quiet and intimate.
What a wonderful spot! Comfortable bed, great pillows, beautiful view - we loved your personal touches & warm hospitality. When we coe again to see our children we will know where to stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Annie's cottage. It is a good size with all of the amenities you could need. Annie provided a very generous assortments of foods - more than enough for breakfast in the fridge, an enormous bowl of fruit which was refilled and goods in the cupboards. There are also organic grocery and wine stores close by.
It was a good base for Mount Rainier and Annie's recommendation to go to the Sunrise visitor centre was right. We enjoyed a wonderful 4 hour hike up to a lookout and had brilliant views of Mount Rainier and its glaciers.
I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again.
Annie's cottage had everything she promised; we've been raving about it since we got home. The property was beautiful with all the flowers and surrounding nature. The cottage was clean, everything worked, and it felt like home. The outside deck was spacious and we spent a decent amount of time out there looking at the beautiful view. We also loved the hot tub and used it to watch the sunrise as well as soaking after a long day of walking.
The cottage was an easy distance from Seattle and the local neighborhood was nice and quiet, with shopping nearby.
Annie was a perfect hostess and made our stay special.
We would highly recommend this place to anyone!
Wonderful little cottage, fabulous views. We had a great time. Thanks Annie!
Annie is the consummate innkeeper; she provides fresh food, flowers and all the amenities you need to feel at home. The view of the sound and the mountain range is LOVELY and the neighborhood is very QUIET and PEACEFUL. It's about 20-30 minute drive to all the hustle and bustle of downtown Seattle; so it was nice to "come home" to UNWIND after a full day of play. And if you just want that smaller town feel, Burien is just up the street with everything there that you would need. The cabin itself is attached to the garage structure, but a separate building from the main house, so you are ensured your privacy and quiet. And, the landscaping on the lot is GORGEOUS! We would definitely pick this spot to stay again!
I endorse all the positive things others have said, after having stayed twice in the past six months. My only reluctance is that I don't want to make Soundview any more popular than it is, for fear of not being able to book it when I have the chance to return. A beautiful spot, a gracious host... a weekend at Soundview Cottage is a true respite.
When me and my husband arrived at the very charming and cozy cottage everything was nicely set up for relaxation upon arrival, the fridge was filled plentifully with food and drinks, the private hot tub was ready to use and the view from the hot tub to the ocean was very beautiful to say the least! Annie was very kind and left us at peace and told us to contact her if we needed anything at any point of our stay. The kitchen was set up beautifully ready for use from coffee to cooking, and the bed was very soft and comfortable.
Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable trip, I recommend this location to anyone who wishes to have a relaxing time away from home.
