You will not find a more beautiful place to enjoy summer in the mountains than Lake Santeetlah. It is a true mountain lake with 80 miles of shoreline, 90% of which is National Forest. Unlike almost all other lakes in the south, Lake Santeetlah is privately owned and remains full through the entire year. With a mere 5 steps to the lake, the home is literally on the water. You can't get any closer to your private dock and beach area! Two kayaks are provided for you to explore the beautiful surroundings.
This newly renovated and professionally decorated home has a large, fully equipped gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.. The home has 2 comfortable living rooms. The main living room has a large stone fireplace with a 42' plasma TV above and a large deck just outside. Watch the sunset over the mountains while grilling the days catch! The upstairs living area also has a 42' plasma, surround sound stereo system and a screened porch. The 2 beautiful bedrooms have 'heavenly beds' made up with fine linens. There is a queen futon for additional sleeping. Every room has an amazing lake and mountain view!
This fantastic property is located in the much sought after 'Thunderbird Community'.
This location is quiet, serene and without a doubt on the best part of the lake! If you find it necessary to be in touch with the 'real world',the unlimited long distance and wireless internet allow you to work from the dock if you wish!
We look forward to your visit!
Suzette and LeeAnne,
Thank you once again for sharing your cottage with us. This return trip was celebratory-and it has been wonderful! We look forward to more return visits. Thanks again!
We really enjoyed our stay at this well appointed property. Leann and Suzette were so personable and accommodating. Such a relaxing enjoyable week! Very timely for my husband and I. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
We stayed in this cabin late June-early July 2015. We were somewhat familiar with the Nantahala area, but had never stayed on Lake Santeetlah. This home is located in a private community with gorgeous views of the mountains. We'd looked at several properties on Lake Santeetlah before booking. We did not realize until we arrived that the view from this side of the lake is much superior to some of the other properties. The neighborhood is quiet and lends itself well to morning and evening walks. The home is beautifully decorated and the kitchen is stocked well with most every gadget that you would need, even down to a salad spinner. There's a porch just off of the main floor living room and a screened porch upstairs. The screened porch is a great place to lounge with a good book. The lake is clean and quiet. Even though it was the beginning of July 4th week, there were surprisingly few power boats (maybe just a few) on the water. We used the kayaks in early morning and also in the evenings. The beds are comfortable, but a bit small. But the overall package is so wonderful, I would not have a second thought about this. Where else can you wake up with a view of the lake and mountains while still in bed?
Nearby outdoor activities include driving on the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohola Skyway, kayaking on the Nantahala River, tubing in Bryson City, numerous hiking opportunities on the Appalachian Trail, in Joyce Kilmer Forest, and the surrounding national forests, and more. There is a Stecoah Arts Center nearby, as well. They have concerts on Saturday evenings in the summer, for a fee.
I would strongly encourage advance meal planning and bringing most of your groceries from home. Ingle's in Robbinsville is the main local supermarket. It will not have some of the products that you are used to from home. If your drive is short enough, I would even recommend bringing your meat from home and just leave Ingle's for the last-minute milk and fill-in items that you need. There aren't many non-fast food restaurants in Robbinsville, so do plan that you should cook most of your meals in the cabin. Tapoco Lodge, just north on Highway 129 had a fun casual restaurant on the river that is open every day. Upstairs in the Lodge, there is a fine dining restaurant, but only open for dinner on certain days. Snowbird Lodge also looks like a good dinner option, but is a little pricey.
This is a GREAT home in a wonderful location. Strongly recommend!!
Perfect! We've been renting homes for 15 years and this is by far the best one to date. The home itself is immaculate and the owners attention to detail is perfect. Looks like a design showroom at an upscale furniture store. From rugs, curtains to bedding and decor, it's all beautiful. The outside, absolutely to die for. My breath was taken away daily by the beauty the surrounds. All the outdoor furniture is comfortable too.
The lake views are amazing and the lake itself is huge but very very peaceful.
Gorgeous sunsets and the early morning smoky clouds in the mountains are great to view with a warm cup of coffee.
Want a completely relaxing trip? You need to go to this home. The owner and her sister are very good with all communications.
Did I mention the kayaks? There are 2 and we took them out multiple times every single day.
We loved it!!!
My wife and I spent several beautiful days at this lakefront gem. The home was clearly very well maintained with well stocked kitchen utensils, comfortable beds, excellent decor and a deck overlooking the lake. We spent many hours relaxing, reading on the deck with the appropriate libation for the time of day and occasion - coffee, tea, cocktail, wine and mostly beer. The kayaks allow lots of roaming around the lake and really give another dimension to the experience. A daily walk followed by a swim and lazing out on the dock made for a very special vacation. We have been very fortunate in renting through VRBO, but this is right at the top. The only dining we could recommend is Snowbird Lodge.
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home on the lake. The location is great, the house was really nice, clean and neat and it was quiet in the neighborhood and on the lake, which we love. LeeAnn and Suzette were super to work with and it was a treat having the use of kayaks and a dock. Thanks for a great vacay, we hope to be back!
This was our first VRBO experience and the owners set a very high bar for future getaways. Furnishings were upscale, kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, small appliances and the required wine glasses, and everything was very clean. While there are five homes in this cove, we were the only ones "at home" during our stay which provided just the solitude we were looking for. We didn't leave "home" at all during our stay with the exception of kayak trips to explore the lake and surrounding coves. Lots of fun and we left recharged and ready for the real world again. Hope to return in the Fall!
