Welcome to Blue S'Kai, our white sand beach getaway condo is new to the rental market in beautiful, upscale Cayman Kai. Built in 2005, the condominium is part of Kaibo Yacht Club, Phase II. The condo is painted and decorated in a tropical style, except for the master bedroom, which has a tranquil spa-feel to it. The king sized bed in the master bedroom gives you a view of the beach, the palm trees and the water. The second bedroom has two twin beds and there is a full size queen sofa/sleeper that allows a total of six guests. We have also added a playpen that doubles as a crib. Both bathrooms are equipped with full bath tub and showers. One full bathroom is attached to master bedroom. We have a water cooler with a fresh five-gallon jug of water on your arrival. This means you're not buying drinking water. The kitchen is well stocked with granite counter tops, blender, ice maker, coffee maker and toaster. We also provide a cell phone with a credit of US $12.50 to use as you need to, local or long distance, the cellphone can also be 'topped off' everywhere around the island.
We have really made this an enjoyable condo for all ages, there is a TV/DVD player with cable in each bedroom and in the living room. There are four bikes to use free of charge, 2 adult, 2 kids bikes. We have many board games, cards, poker chips, DVD's, books, a CD stereo, an ipod ready boom box, beach toys, snorkel gear, kids swim goggles and fins and even an X BOX with games for all ages. A pump is provided to inflate rafts and other water toys you may wish to bring along.
Blue S'Kai fits whatever you are looking for in a Caribbean vacation. Perfect for a couples getaway or for a family vacation. During the day your toughest decision may be whether to sun by the pool or to take a deck chair under your own palm tree (watch for falling coconuts). We frequently are the only people on the beach or pool (private).
This is a first floor condo, you step off your patio onto a pristine beach, the infinity edge pool, with a Jacuzzi, is just 20 steps away. First floor is convenient because you (and your kids) can go straight into the condo for a bathroom run, to get towels or to refill your rum drink. Second story units require you to walk to the parking area for access (less convenient). Also there is no elevator.
Kaibo Bar and Grill is next door, they have a casual daytime menu, and an impressive dining menu. They also have a beach volleyball court and live music on select weekends. Dining can be on the beach if you choose, literally, some tables are on the beach, go barefoot. The full bar offers a beach bar atmosphere during the day and a very romantic setting at night.
Just past the Kaibo Grill next door or at Rum Point, you can rent jet skis and kayaks or book a snorkeling or SCUBA trip. Red Sail Sports even has a catamaran with a trampoline on the front. A MUST see in Cayman is Sting Ray City (10 minutes by boat)where you can swim with and feed the gentle Southern stingray. You can snorkel, SCUBA or go on the glass bottom boat for those who don't want to get wet. This is an amazing trip, truly a highlight. Our favorite is going to Sting Ray City and snorkeling off your jet ski with Peter at Fat Fish Charters.
Rum Point is about 5 minutes by bike about 2 minutes by car, another beautiful beach with a swimming area, gift shop, casual restaurant and bar, they close at 5 pm, generally busy. Snorkeling right off the beach is spectacular and close in in several locations around Cayman including the North End. You WILL see lots of fish and starfish snorkeling in the Cayman Kai area.
On our family vacations we have enjoyed horseback riding on the beach and ocean swimming with the horses(also a unique experience, only one company on Cayman swims with the horses). The Turtle Farm has a breeding pond and touch tanks, (where you can pick up a turtle for a picture). In Georgetown, a 40 min drive, you can enjoy duty free shopping, restaurants, and a 100 foot submarine dive. For the skaters and surfers in your family there is also a great skate park (for skateboarders) along with a wave machine. For the person who likes a more crowded environment you can drive to seven mile beach which also offers shopping, restaurants and public beaches. Our favorite time has been on the beach at the condo with the kids or in the evening by ourselves.
Grocery shopping is available on your way to Kaibo from the airport or in advance of your arrival, for an extra $25 plus grocery costs (grocery stores are closed on Sundays).
Relax, escape, enjoy, this is a great vacation that you will want to do every year. Don't forget to bring your camera, you'll want to remember this one.
Had an amazing time on our trip! Condo was even better than described in prior guest's comments! Have already recommended to friends/family & are planning our next trip! John was amazing to work with. Excellent communicator & terrific follow up! Book your trip NOW...just don't pick the dates we want! :)
This property is exactly as advertised: a charmingly furnished, well-equipped condo right on the beach, in a quiet, peaceful setting. It has practically everything you could want, including books, games, a cellphone, a 5-gallon jug of water, ceiling fans in every room AND the porch, and a TV with plenty of channels. Tammey sent us multiple e-mails with all kinds of information on what to see and do. It was incredibly quiet during our stay--at most we heard a few voices at the pool and just a bit of music from the Tuesday night barbecue next door. That barbecue is at Kaibo, a really good beach restaurant serving lunch, dinner, and a few light breakfast items that's literally right next door--couldn't be more convenient or fun!
We thought the highlight of the unit is the screened porch right on the beach. We spent hours out there enjoying the lovely view, especially at sunset. We also liked being able to walk to Starfish Point (tip: we saw more starfish along the beach near our condo than at Starfish Point--just keep walking past Kaibo and you'll see them). Rum Point is a 3-minute drive away, or you could easily bike there.
While we had a wonderful time and are already planning our next visit, this condo isn't for everyone. You're a 45-60 minute drive from the shopping, nightlife, and tourist attractions of George Town, Seven Mile Beach, and West End. If you're from the U.S. or Canada, driving a car with controls on the right side down the left side of the road requires extra vigilance. And if your idea of a vacation is not cooking, there are just four restaurants and one convenience store within a 15-minute drive. Tammey suggests stopping at a supermarket on your drive from the airport (or, for a fee, having Barbara do the shopping for you) and packing what food you can in your luggage (everything is pricier in the Caymans). We strongly agree.
While this is beachfront property, it's not oceanfront. The unit is on a cove within Little Sound, which is off North Sound. So, while the water is clear, it's as still as a lagoon, there's a lot of seaweed, and the sand is sometimes coarse. Lovely to look at, but not the best for wading or swimming. This didn't bother us at all--there's a pool and whirlpool just steps away, and Starfish Point and Rum Point both have some seaweed-free spots.
We're so glad we found this place, and we can't wait to go back!
We stayed here the first week in January. The unit was very clean and convenient. You were on the beach right outside your door. There is a nice little bar right next store with a very good restaurant upstairs. I would recommend renting a car. It is far from the grocery stores ( which are very nice and have everything) stock up on the way from the airport. You are on the bay not the ocean. It reminded me of being at at a lake house only in the Carribean. We rented paddle boards and enjoyed the tranquility. There is a marina right next store with excursions everyday. I think this is great and safe place for a family with young children who want to explore nature. There is a little dock you where you can fish. There are plenty of starfish and fish to see as well. Very quiet and reasonable. We did visit the seven mile beach area and were happy to be staying on the quiet side of the island. If you are looking for a lot of action and nightlife this would not be the place to stay. Everyone we encountered was so nice and friendly. Tammey was so helpful providing all of the information you need. The unit was stocked with everything you need. Plenty of beach towels etc.. We would certainly return. Great value!
I can honestly say that this condo was a perfect fit for our family! We loved the location, the amenities, we loved the complex, and loved that the a/c worked very well! (Our family loves to stay cold, and even with the a/c set at 72, we found ourselves turning up the temperature control to 75 or 76!). We appreciated having such a clean and cute place to stay. Coming in October (the off season), we virtually had the whole place to ourselves! You walk out the back door, and you are literally on the beach. Although the ground is hard with shells, it gets more soft and beachy the closer you get to the water. From the back door I would say 25-30 steps to the water. About 15-20 to the pool. We loved that we didn't even have to don shoes to go play in the pool, which we practically lived in for the week we were there. Our two year old son was happy to see lots of beach/pool toys at the house for his use, and our 22 year old daughter loved the commercial grade blender for perfect pina coladas! We had everything we could have wanted right there in the condo, and we cooked most of our meals at home. We did venture out on a couple of occasions.. Kaibo is right next door and while a little pricey, they have amazing poutine fries! Kurt's Corner is behind Water Boys liquor store down the road and had great food at an affordable price! We had such a lovely vacation, the only downfall to our trip were the mosquitos. They tend to be the worst at dusk/sundown, so bring your bug spray! The positive to this, the lovely screened in porch - with no mosquitos!! If you are looking for an affordable, well appointed, clean and cute place to stay; look no futher... Blue S'Kai is the one! Also, Tammey, the owner, was quick to respond and most helpful with ideas and tips for planning our trip. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us, we will definitely be back!
We had a very nice stay at this condo. THE CONDO WAS BEAUTIFUL - The only draw back is that this part of the island does not have Turquoise waters that meet the beach. Thankfully there was a pool, which we used everyday, because the ocean water was awful. Most of the beaches we would recommend "Water Shoes" to get through all the "Muck" in the water!! Pretty much the only beach is 7 mile Beach, which is about a 45 minute drive. Rum Point is just down the street, but get there early or forget it!! We have travelled to many different islands, but unfortunately we were not impressed with the Cayman Islands as a whole.
My wife and I recently made our first trip to the island and were extremely pleased with all aspects of our trip. The condo was beautiful and provided all of the amenities you could ask for, plus more, and the location was ideal. Correspondence with the owner was a breeze and he is extremely informative, responsive and easy to work with. We took advantage of all the great things about the condo and surrounding areas including buying groceries and cooking in, grilling burgers off the back patio on the Weber grill provided, utilizing the cell phone, washer and dryer, pool and hot tub, riding bikes down to Star Fish & Rum Point and walking next door to get some great food and drinks from Kaibo Bar & Grill. Cayman is a great place to visit and this is the place to stay when you are here. Thanks again John for everything!
Stingray City is a 10 minute boat ride from the dock next door. Red Sail Sports or Fat Fish Charters will pick you up there, you have a choice of snorkeling, scuba diving or glass bottom boat. There also is a catamaran sail boat with a trampoline on the front available for excursions. Be sure to ask us about horseback riding on the beach and about ocean swims with the horses.
