|Minimum Stay||2 - 4 nights|
Apartment Magnolia (60 sqm) is on the ground floor with access directly from the garden. There is a living room with kitchen fully equipped, double bedded room (extra bed is available), bathroom with shower. The kitchen has an electric oven, but no dishwasher or washing machine; there is a self service laundry near the apartment. Sleeps : 2+1 Parking space is guaranteed and the wi-fi ADSL internet connection is always-on and completely free. Casa Zia Beppina is located in the San Concordio area of Lucca, which has recently become one of the most important areas of the city with the expansion outwards from the walled centre. The San Concordio area is the best place from which to enjoy a stay in Lucca because the walled centre (only 500 metres away) and the train station are both easily accessible by foot or bicycle. There is also a bus stop close by (less than 5 mins) from where you can catch a bus to Florence, Pisa (including the airport) and Viareggio (Versilia beaches). The location is great and very quiet, you are close to the walls, but in a great area with shopping and restaurants. The apartment is located just a couple of minutes walk from an excellent supermarket open till 9 p.m., laundrette and restaurant as well as banks, shops, bars and pizzerias. Lucca is now largely a pedestrianised zone, which makes exploring this lovely old city all the more enjoyable. With your vacation rental just a short walk outside the walls, you’ll never need to use your car to get into town. It is now almost impossible for anyone except residents to drive a car into the city centre, and it is one reason why the San Concordio area has lately become so sought after ... it’s so convenient. The owners, Aldo and Cinzia, speak good English and will be more than happy to help you out with anything that will make your stay in Lucca more enjoyable.
The apartment served us well with good cooking facilities, TV with DVD player. The walk is about 15mins away to the city walls with a resturant we recomend 5 min walk away. If we return then we would stay here.
so far so good in this lovely apartment in Lucca - just outside the walls, and all the better for that. Very well equipped, spacious, nicely decorated - great location near supermarkets, buses to the beach, Pisa, the train station, the famous and fabulous walls of Lucca - no issues - though if insects like you, be careful in the garden - the table and chairs are situated on the grass so spray, spray, spray!!!
A lot if thought has gone into equipping this modern ground level apartment. Everything you need to cater for yourself is there and more. It is ideally located just outside the city wall which enables you to walk into town in 10 minutes thus avoiding the need to drive inside the walls into the tiny streets and limited parking opportunities. Indeed, it is possible that you would incur a fine for driving into certain streets as a " non-local".
The owner was away with his family on the coast for the weekend when we arrived but took the trouble to pop in to check that we were happy and settled in on the Monday. His welcoming and helpful manner extended to making a particular point of dropping in on our last morning before checkout to do the same.
Parking was easy and free.
We would strongly recommend Aldo's property for visits to this wonderful city.
Aldo let us check in early as we'd arrived in the area, and gave us a warm greeting plus tour of the apartment. He seemed very helpful, spoke excellent English and advised us on a nearby restaurant (reasonable local food), supermarket and laundry. I'm sure he would have provided more assistance if required. The apartment is quite spacious with all the necessary equipment in the kitchen, etc. The bookshelf features English paperbacks and a lot of travel guides. There is also a place to sit outside in the garden, although we didn't use it because of the rain.
It's quite a few steps to the walls of Lucca ... about 1 km ... and we would probably have stayed inside the centre if we hadn't wanted parking. But it's a pleasant walk and the city is beautiful. A walk around the walls in a must as well as a climb up one of the towers for the fabulous views. There are a few sights, but just strolling about is most enjoyable. We ate some terrific food and especially recommend Ristorante il Giglio. Pisa is close by and offers far more than the wonderful leaning tower.
The property is very spacious for two people with a well equipped kitchen, generous space in both the living area and bedroom and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is also spacious with a powerful shower.
An added bonus is the outside space in a lovely garden and parking space for a car.
Aldo and his wife who own the property and live above the apartment were extremely welcoming, helpful and not at all intrusive, allowing you privacy but available if required.
We had a lovely holiday here and would highly recommend it.
From the very beginning of reserving the stay at Aldo's place, I knew it was going to be a great experience. The first initial e-mail was very warm and welcoming. Then the 2nd e-mail right before our trip was personal and warm.
We were coming from another destination to Aldo's when he sent a message asking our arrival time and let him know if we have any questions. When my daughter and I arrived at the apartment, we fell in love! The backyard to the decor of the apartment. Then the welcome from Aldo was the icing. He was more than helpful with information and any questions we may have. My daughter wanted to get her haircut in Italy, Aldo and his wife made an appointment with their own hairstylist for us.
The apartment was furnished perfectly...the beds, the TV, the kitchen dishes. The location of the apartment was ideal. I have stayed enjoyed staying within the walls the other times I have visited Lucca, but after staying at Aldo's, I am now an "outside the wall" visitor. It was nice to come back to the apartment at night and there was a quietness. We were able to shop at the local markets, eat at a local restaurant. There are even 2 supermarkets (but I am inclined with the smaller markets). If we should come back to Lucca, we definately would love to stay at Aldo's place.
Most of all, this holiday apartment in Lucca give you easy access to one of Tuscany's most charming, historic yet unspoiled cities. Less bustling than Florence or Pisa, Lucca sits snug within its massive medieval walls, the town within a maze of ancient streets, Renaissance churches, grand palazzi, good shops and excellent restaurants. An enjoyable day can be spent waling the 4 km circuit of the walls ... so deep are they that they are topped by parks and gardens, and are very popular with joggers, cyclists and sightseers. And when you descend to the town within, you'll find pedestrians and cyclists again take precedence over the motor car - this is a lovely town to stroll, enjoy and relax. Watching over Lucca from above, from one of the towers, one can enjoy an enchanting panorama over the red roofs, with lots of green and the summits of the Apuan Alps in the background. As Lucca is well connected through the rail network it is possible to visit other Tuscan towns without car. Pisa, Viareggio (and the Versilia coast), Montecatini and Pistoia can be quickly reached. Within approximately 45 minutes it is possible to reach Florence.
