Perfect place for relaxing and fun vacation
Our family of four have just returned from Poinsettia. Our stay there was so relaxing and enjoyable, I could not recommend it more. The villa is very well kept, grounds are beautifully landscaped. Somebody came to clean and bring fresh towels every day. Kids liked the pool and the beach. The beach is about 100 feet away down the road. It is not for adults swimming (full of coral) but was perfect for my 3 year old who is afraid of the waves - there is a nice tidepool there, protected by the reef and just a couple of feet deep. Girls found a lot of shells and even some live coral. The roof deck is very nice - we watched sunset there while sipping on wine and read books during the evening. You can hear the waves breaking at the reef and the weather was perfect every day.
The villa is very private, quite, well decorated and well kept. There is a washer and a dryer (which is essential if you travel with kids) and somebody even folded our clothes for us! Ingrid and Sydney and all the staff are very nice. They went out of their way to make our stay amazing. I forgot a personal item at the villa and they mailed it to me. I definitely plan to be back.
If you plan to go to Anguilla, I recommend renting a car - there are several amazing beached just 5 minutes away from Poinsettia and they all have restaurants. Four Seasons is two minutes away and I recommend it for drinks at sunset and some appetizers. There are a bunch of good bands on the island and we went to enjoy some live music several times.
Home away from home
Having been a visitor to this island nearly a dozen times, I've had a chance to look around and stay at several different places. But as I prepare for another trip, it will be our 4th time that we look to stay at Poinsettia. As I tend to prefer the western half of the island for most daily activities, the location of the Indigo Reef properties is perfect for us.
Each year I take photos of the beautiful surroundings there, and as beautiful as these photos are, they just can't truly reflect the overall attractiveness of Indigo Reef. And this due in large part to the gardeners (one of whom is Jester) who keep the property looking absolutely gorgeous- walking through the meandering paths between the villas and to the shared pool (which has never been crowded) is like walking through mini botanical gardens- the colors are vivd and the flowers smell fantastic-frangipani and gardenias to name just a couple.
The villa itself, and the others that are also owned by Ingrid ( and I have examined them all-Poinsettia, Mangrove and Gardenia), are lovely and comfortably furnished- with a bed like the one I sleep in at home, with linens that are high quality, all the amenities that you have at home (or wish you had at home) and then some- like a roof top patio where you can see forever and sometimes watch sail boats racing, which really look like a water ballet...The villas are architecturally unique, the distance and plantings between them allows for privacy, everything is kept clean and the housekeeping staff makes sure you have fresh beach towels when they're needed. Kitchen is gourmet and supplied well and very handy to have when traveling with kids especially- cooking in from time to time is economical in Anguilla. And it's great to buy freshly caught fish/ lobster and bring them home to do it yourself.
Ingrid, the owner, has arranged for car rentals and pick -up at the Blowing Point Ferry (picked up by Ingrid herself when she's available to do so). She stops by to make sure everything is going as it should be- she makes one feel very welcome and wants you to have the kind of vacation you've been waiting for.
I would recommend this property and any in her group of villas to everyone and anyone who looks to have a carefree vacation on an island that has not been spoiled by over- construction and where one can meet locals who become friends and really get to taste the island flavor. The beach is great for shelling, sunsets amazing, A+ beaches nearby. I LOVE Anguilla.
