A special thanks to our renters, who love our home as much we do. We enjoy having you stay in Camden and would love to have you return. Please, get in touch for special pricing.
Our village home is a stone's throw from Penobscot Bay. You can pour your coffee in the morning and wander down to see the tall ships sail away and enjoy scenes of active harbor life. Then, walk past our 1920's library and have a walk down Main Street to enjoy small local shops and cafes that are a part of the fabric of the town.
This village life is only moments from our side porch. The charm of the house is its close proximity to everything and yet, has a peaceful charm and privacy not easy to find. We chose Camden for our home when we found four working book stores, beautiful antique shops and family owned local restaurants. We wanted to be able to walk to grocery store and live for days without getting in the car. Every season is magical: the long evenings of summer, glorious, incomparable autumn color, snow fall for the holidays and the flowers of spring. Our home in Camden has been a retreat for our family for many years and we would love to share it with you.

Dave and I taught all over the world for 30 years-London, Vienna, Lugano, Taipei and Yokohama. Our primary residence, at this time, is Charlotte, North Carolina, where Dave is teaching high school history at Charlotte Country Day School and I have a retail business. We feel so lucky to able to offer our home to you. For us, there is no place like Camden in all the world. The village life, the sea, the mountains and all it offers is simply remarkable to us and never fails to enchant us, whether it is summer, autumn, Christmas or spring. It is a rare part of the world!
Mary Miller purchased this house in 1990
We fell in love with Camden on sight. It has everything we have ever wanted and more...3 thriving independent book stores, wonderful restaurants, great sailing, unique shopping, glorious hiking and the daily infrastructure, longs walks on country lanes, canoeing and it is all a walk from our front door.
We bought our home in 1990 and for the last 25 years have lovingly restored the interior while keeping the charm and grace of a Victorian. Dave and I lived all over the world and have furnished our home with antiques from Vienna and from China. The house is our sanctuary with three distinct living areas on three floors. The public space on the first floor provides a large, gourmet kitchen with room for our family and friends to gather, visit and cook all at one time, with little people all over the floor! The large dining room has seating for 12 but we have had 20 and sit nicely. My husband has hand painted a mural in the dining that creates a sense of peace and calm. The transition into our cozy living room through an archway framed with 18th Chinese panels reminds us of wonderful travel in China for the last six years as I grew my antique and silk business. The living room is intimate and highlighted by stain glass windows and a cozy gas fire place surrounded by book cases.
The second floor is personal space with two large bedrooms and beautiful remodeled bathrooms designed for quiet privacy. The view of the mountains and tress from the master picture window is restoring for us and, we hope, for you!
The third floor was our enormous attic. It provides a sitting room with a view of the Camden Hills, a wonderful bathroom with a nautical flare, a sleeping nook with another queen fold out and another space for yoga or pilates. This is a wonderful spot for teenagers, giving them private space to spread out and relax.
We have traveled all over the world and there is no place like Camden. Do come and see us and let us share our home with you!
We loved the house and found it charming and perfect for our needs. Camden is definitely the most ideal and prettiest place to be, and the location of the house to downtown makes being in Camden that much more delightful. My family kept complimenting me on finding the perfect house in the perfect location. I will certainly recommend it to any of our friends who plan a trip to Maine..
We just returned from spending a wonderful time in BEAUTIFUL Camden in this lovely home. The photos are exactly what you will find in this home. A gourmet kitchen, lovely master bath and close to everything!! There are so many lovely details of this home, artwork, wood work, stained glass, etc. There is so much to do in the downtown area which is literally a few minute walk from this home. The views of the Harbour from the quaint little park up the road was just beautiful to sit and watch each evening. Right up the road was the perfect hiking area, not to mention you can hike to Mt. Battie just up the street. So much to do and "centrally located" to just about everywhere. A few must do's while you are here. Eat a lobster roll at least once. Watch the tide come in at Lincolnville Beach, it's pretty quick and happens around 1:30-2pm. If you have time, take the ferry to Monhegan Island, a very small island but incredible views and lots of history. Of course if you can...go to Acadia National Park and drive up to Cadillac Mountain or have a picnic lunch at The Jordan Pond, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy great shopping in Belfast! There are lots of great shop in downtown Camden too! A little pricey, but neat stuff to see! And lastly, if you get tired of lobster...order the "best pizza in the world" from the Camden House of Pizza ! Amazing!!!
We (three couples from the Dallas area) loved our stay in this beautifully restored home in Camden. We have vacationed together every summer for several years and we all agreed that the home, it's location, and the beauty of the area made it one of our best trips ever.
The home is just as described by Mary in her listing. It has a good layout for privacy when desired, but also has a nice den, dining room, kitchen, and outside sitting area where we all gathered for most of the time during our stay.
We cooked a few meals (including steaming lobsters one evening) in the well equipped kitchen, but many times, we walked a short distance to the downtown harbor area where we enjoyed several excellent meals in the abundant restaurants there.
There is plenty to do and see in the area (Acadia National Park, Mount Battie, museums, etc) and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. We hope to make it back to this beautiful home in a few years.
We had a wonderful stay. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, and it easily accommodated the family (including three children ages 6, 11, and 14). It was the perfect place to relax and we also loved walking into town (very short walk), climbing Mt. Battie, and exploring the area. This was our first visit to Camden, and we look forward to returning again next summer!
Mary and Dave, we can not thank you enough for making your stunning home available to rent. It is a gorgeous, inviting home, so close to town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to coming back, for sure. We enjoyed our breakfasts and most dinners in your beautiful kitchen. We had a fun time exploring Camden and other towns north and south during the day, which we haven't had a chance to see in years. My husband enjoyed his walks around town, and up and down Mt. Battie in the morning, while I enjoyed sleeping late. We loved the Victorian charm of the home, and the beautiful stained glass windows. You thought of everything to make your home so welcoming. Thanks for your attention to details. And, thanks, again, for sharing your home with us. Most Sincerely, D. & M.
We enjoyed our stay in Camden very much. The house is charming and in a great location; quick walk downtown. Mary was always responsive and helpful with any questions we had leading up to our visit and the whole rental process was smooth.
We had a wonderful time in Camden this year. 13 Mountain Street provided us with the quiet and peaceful retreat we needed. We enjoyed walking to the village for many a delicious meal and wonderful shopping. The house is so conveniently located, even the kids loved walking to the harbor for ice cream and boat watching. They enjoyed walking to "Harbor Dogs" for burgers too (all by themselves)! The house is also perfectly located if you want to hike up Mt. Battie or explore nearby towns. We even drove to Acadia and Bar Harbor for a day trip, found a great boat to sail out of Rockland, and my husband and son enjoyed a great sea kayaking experience. The house is well equipped, especially the kitchen, as also well maintained. You will find the spaces beautifully appointed and a quiet spot for just about everyone in your family. As many reviewers have said, the artwork is beautiful and the furnishings and antiques very lovely. I would recommend this place and would not hesitate to return for another restful vacation. If I could give one suggestion, it would be for better room darkening window blinds in the master bedroom...those of us who like to sleep in a little later while on vacation would really appreciate it! Thank you, Mary, for all the care and attention you gave us during our stay.

Camden is a unique blend of village life, close to every amenity but with feeling of being removed from the urban rush, walk to Rockport along pastural roads, hike Mount Battie, sail on the bay or to a nearby island or enjoy a near by lake, picnic on the ocean and in the Camden Hills, visit the Farnsworth Museum in nearby Rockland, come to relax or explore, Camden is the jewel of the coast.
