The first and last weeks of July are still available! This year the 4th is on a Wednesday so a perfect week to enjoy the fireworks and festivities over the 4th! Plus, we are beginning to book for autumn. Our home will be available from September 15th to October 27th in order to cover the full span of the fall's incredible color. It is a breath taking time to travel in Maine, especially the Mid-Coast.
Our village home is a stone's throw from Penobscot Bay. You can pour your coffee in the morning and wander down to see the tall ships sail away and enjoy scenes of active harbor life. Then, walk past our 1920's library and have a walk down Main Street to enjoy small local shops and cafes that are a part of the fabric of the town.
This village life is only moments from our side porch. The charm of the house is its close proximity to everything and yet, has a peaceful charm and privacy not easy to find. We chose Camden for our home when we found four working book stores, beautiful antique shops and family owned local restaurants. We wanted to be able to walk to grocery store and live for days without getting in the car. Every season is magical: the long evenings of summer, glorious, incomparable autumn color, snow fall for the holidays and the flowers of spring. Our home in Camden has been a retreat for our family for many years and we would love to share it with you.

About Mary Miller
Dave and I taught all over the world for 30 years-London, Vienna, Lugano, Taipei and Yokohama. Our primary residence, at this time, is Camden, Maine, where Dave is painting and writing and I have a retail business. www.sweetsolesboutique.com We feel so lucky to able to offer our home to you. For us, there is no place like Camden in all the world. The village life, the sea, the mountains and all it offers is simply remarkable to us and never fails to enchant us, whether it is summer, autumn, Christmas or spring. It is a rare part of the world!
Mary Miller purchased this House in 1990
Why Mary Miller chose Camden
We fell in love with Camden on sight. It has everything we have ever wanted and more...3 thriving independent book stores, wonderful restaurants, great sailing, unique shopping, glorious hiking and the daily infrastructure, long walks on country lanes, canoeing, kayaking and it is all a walk from our front door. Our home is our haven. When you stay with us, it is more than a holiday rental. Our home is filled with Dave's water colors, antiques we have collected in Europe and Asia and a fully stocked kitchen. Though it is only 2300 sq feet, there are private places to get comfortable for a read or a chat.
What makes this House unique
We bought our home in 1990 and for the last 25 years have lovingly restored the interior while keeping the charm and grace of a Victorian. Dave and I lived all over the world and have furnished our home with antiques from Vienna and from China. The house is our sanctuary with three distinct living areas on three floors. The public space on the first floor provides a large, gourmet kitchen with room for our family and friends to gather, visit and cook all at one time, with little people all over the floor! The large dining room has seating for 12 but we have had 20 and sit nicely. My husband has hand painted a mural in the living room that creates a sense of peace and calm. The transition into our cozy living room through an archway framed with 18th Chinese panels reminds us of wonderful travel in China for the last six years as I grew my antique and silk business. The dining room is intimate and highlighted by stain glass windows and a cozy gas fire place surrounded by book cases. The second floor is personal space with two large bedrooms and beautiful remodeled bathrooms designed for quiet privacy. The view of the mountains and tress from the master picture window is restoring for us and, we hope, for you! The third floor was our enormous attic. It provides a sitting room with a view of the Camden Hills, a wonderful bathroom with a nautical flare, a sleeping nook with another queen fold out and another space for yoga or pilates. This is a wonderful spot for teenagers, giving them private space to spread out and relax. We have traveled all over the world and there is no place like Camden. Do come and see us and let us share our home with you!

Close to downtown, comfortable to be in and beautifully decorated
My wife and I hosted two of our adult children and their spouses in this home. Each bedroom and bath area is nicely separated to provide a place to relax away from others and the common areas provide a great setting for cooking, eating and relaxing together. The art work and interior decoration are much more than one would expect at a rental. Just reading the book titles and browsing was a worthwhile pursuit. The walk in to Camden, easy access to Mt. Battie and the lake were additional positives. While we have enjoyed all five of our Camden rentals we have booked over the last 8 years, this home was by far the best. The owners were easy to work with and we enjoyed a chance to chat with David and learn the story around their buying this home in Camden.
Many thanks, Jerry! Dave enjoyed visiting with you, as well. You know you and family are welcome in our home...anytime! All Best Wishes!
Really cozy and inviting, great kitchen; easy access to all of Camden.
We loved Dave's artwork, the book collection, and all the wonderful furnishings from the East. There was plenty of room for great meals and family board games. The third floor was super for our three teenagers. You couldn't ask for easier access to Camden. We would definitely stay at the Miller's home again!
Thank you for coming. We were delighted to host your lovely family. The art work left by your children was a delight. It was so thoughtful of them to leave it for us. Do come again and stay longer. There is so much to see in the area. All Best!
One of our best vacations ever!
We (three couples from the Dallas area) loved our stay in this beautifully restored home in Camden. We have vacationed together every summer for several years and we all agreed that the home, it's location, and the beauty of the area made it one of our best trips ever.
The home is just as described by Mary in her listing. It has a good layout for privacy when desired, but also has a nice den, dining room, kitchen, and outside sitting area where we all gathered for most of the time during our stay.
We cooked a few meals (including steaming lobsters one evening) in the well equipped kitchen, but many times, we walked a short distance to the downtown harbor area where we enjoyed several excellent meals in the abundant restaurants there.
There is plenty to do and see in the area (Acadia National Park, Mount Battie, museums, etc) and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. We hope to make it back to this beautiful home in a few years.
Thank you Ken,
Dave and I are so glad you and your friends came to stay with us in Camden. It was a pleasure and you are welcome back anytime!
Beautiful house, loved everything about our visit!
We had a wonderful stay. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, and it easily accommodated the family (including three children ages 6, 11, and 14). It was the perfect place to relax and we also loved walking into town (very short walk), climbing Mt. Battie, and exploring the area. This was our first visit to Camden, and we look forward to returning again next summer!
Thank you Alison,
It was lovely hosting you and your family are most welcome to stay with us anytime.
Mary and Dave Miller
Mary and Dave, we can not thank you enough for making your stunning home available to rent. It is a gorgeous, inviting home, so close to town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to coming back, for sure. We enjoyed our breakfasts and most dinners in your beautiful kitchen. We had a fun time exploring Camden and other towns north and south during the day, which we haven't had a chance to see in years. My husband enjoyed his walks around town, and up and down Mt. Battie in the morning, while I enjoyed sleeping late. We loved the Victorian charm of the home, and the beautiful stained glass windows. You thought of everything to make your home so welcoming. Thanks for your attention to details. And, thanks, again, for sharing your home with us. Most Sincerely, D. & M.
We enjoyed our stay in Camden very much. The house is charming and in a great location; quick walk downtown. Mary was always responsive and helpful with any questions we had leading up to our visit and the whole rental process was smooth.
Thanks so much, Steve. Dave and I are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
Camden is a unique blend of village life, close to every amenity but with feeling of being removed from the urban rush, walk to Rockport along pastural roads, hike Mount Battie, sail on the bay or to a nearby island or enjoy a near by lake, picnic on the ocean and in the Camden Hills, visit the Farnsworth Museum in nearby Rockland, come to relax or explore, Camden is the jewel of the coast. You won't go hungry in Camden. Maine's Rock Coast consists of Rockport, Rockland, and Camden and has more restaurants per capita than anywhere else in America. With something for every person, taste, and budget the only hard part is choosing where to go. Here's a sampling of a few noteworthy restaurants that have helped make Camden and the Rock Coast area a true "foodie" destination. Francine Bistro (multiple JBF (James Beard Foundation) nominee Brian Hill) Long Grain (JBF 2017 Best Chef Northeast nominee Ravin Nakjaroen) Primo - Chef Melissa Kelly (only two-time female chef JBF winner) Natalie's - Executive Chefs Shelby Stevens and Chris Long Pig + Poet - Group Executive Chef, Justin Perdue and Chef de Cuisine, Jonah Haggett Youngtown Inn - Chef/owner Manuel Mercier draws upon his French heritage to create an array of traditionally prepared dishes. But, life isn't always white tablecloths, silver, and fine china. Grab a lobster roll at one of the many lobster shacks or a sandwich to go at the town's deli for your day's excursions. From fancy to casual, with over 90 restaurants there's something for every palate. Looking for the best lobster roll in our area?
