The Escape at Windswept

Ocean views anchor both the living room and master bedroom. Or slide open the balcony door for a more immersive ocean-view experience. Take in the tranquil landscape as the sun rises over the open water, listen to the steady sound of waves in the distance, and indulge in the refreshing sea breeze.

With 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms, the Escape at Windswept can comfortably accommodate a couple or young family searching for the perfect beach vacation. Sleep in the master bedroom, which features majestic natural views from the comfort of a king-sized bed.

Outfitted with pillow-top mattresses, memory-foam toppers, Egyptian-cotton sheets and down-alternative pillows, it’s the ideal place to enjoy a hot cup of coffee on a lazy morning or catch up on the latest news, which you can watch on the suite’s 27-inch flat-panel television.

Easy and Comfortable Accommodations

When you’re finally ready to start your day, feel free to take your time in the master bathroom, complete with a large glass walk-in shower.

Let the kids get cozy in the living room, which has a sleeper sofa, media center with a 32-inch television, DVD player and small library of DVDs and books. (And, of course, like any modern home, you have full access to wireless internet during your stay.)

In addition to serving as extra sleeping space, families often pass time in the living room, making plans for a day on the beach or kicking back in the evening after spending all afternoon in the sun.

An accessible floor plan in this part of the villa makes it easy to move from one room to the other as you cook a meal in the fully furnished, elegant kitchen appointed with stainless steel appliances or play board games in the dining room as the sun starts to set. And, to make your vacation that much easier, the on-site washer and dryer are located just off the kitchen.

A One-Minute Walk to the Beach

Head out the door to see what the neighborhood has in store. Only a one-minute walk away you’ll find 10 miles of pristine beach. Also within walking distance are shopping opportunities, restaurants and the Night Heron Park. For a longer excursion, hop in your car and head to historic downtown Charleston, only a 30-minute drive away.

As idyllic as The Escape at Windswept is, if you feel you need more room for your vacation, check out the 3-bedroom Penthouse and 2-bedroom Mariah, both villas located in the Windswept complex.

About Shawn and Jeanette Lawson

About Property Managers, Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways):

Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently.

In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he applied for the personalized South Carolina license plate 'KIAWAH' (which we still have today).

In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station.

In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah property owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well.

Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will.

What makes this villa unique

From the moment you step into this oceanfront vacation rental, stress leaves your shoulders and a light sense of relaxation takes its place.

Never Wanted To Leave

Never Wanted To Leave!

My husband and I wanted a relaxing romantic beach vacation so we decided to go back for a second time to the Escape at Windswept on Kiawah Island. From the minute we entered the condo, complete serenity washed over both of us. We were greeted by an immaculate condo with fresh flowers sitting in a vase on the kitchen counter and soft music playing in the background. The condo is a neutral tone with light blue accents throughout making it feel large and open. The views of the ocean easily obtained simply stepping out onto the deck and walking into the bedroom. The bed linens were excellent: invitingly fluffy, soft, and tons of pillows. Towels were plentiful including two large beach towels. An empty beach tote and small cooler ready for our use was in the closet. Two frozen mugs were in the freezer. The kitchen was well stocked including olive oil, seasonings, and garbage bags. We enjoyed regular bike rides, the pristine beach, and nature watching! We saw deer, dolphins, pelicans, osprey, an alligator, and my favorite; a baby loggerhead turtle! We had one very rainy day where we stayed mostly inside and yet still very content. I mostly enjoyed waking to the view of the ocean from the bed. When the week was over, both my husband and I wanted to stay so much that we emailed Jeanette and Shawn if we could rent the condo for one more night. They quickly got back to us and though it was already rented, they were able to provide us one more night at another location very close by: The Beach Cottage at Mariners Watch. They made the move very easy having the new place ready by10:00am. The Beach Cottage at Mariners had a totally different feel (cottage style décor which was busting with color: pinks, blues, and greens) but with the same wonderful inviting detail: great bed linens, stocked kitchen, cooler, tote, and frozen mugs etc. The entire wall in the kitchen/living room area is a sliding glass door that leads to a screened-in-porch surrounded by beautiful green trees and a view of a bike path and small pound. The best part was that it was only 80 steps from the front door to the beach boardwalk! In all we loved our beach vacation and truly appreciate Jeanette and Shawn’s great attention to detail in making both rental locations superb!

Wonderful condo and beach!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was wonderful. Very clean and comfortable. We appreciated how well stocked it was: laundry detergent, soap, toilet paper, beach towels, cooler as this all made our stay very convenient. We enjoyed the island and how much it had grown in the last 10 years that we had been there. The bike paths were incredible and we enjoyed seeing all the wildlife that Kiawah had. Thank you for a memorable vacation! We would easily stay in this condo again, or possibly a larger one if we bring our family along!

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was my 4 year old sons first encounter with the beach. Kiawah island is truly a breathtaking place. The villa was perfect. We had a tropical storm blow through on our first night, so the games provided in the villa were a perfect touch on the rainy night.
