About The Owner

My wife Sharron and I finished building our island home in 2005..We've been married for 56 years, raised 5 children and have over 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren..We love our island and are happy to share it with our wonderful guests..

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Winter

We have always loved the peace and serenity of an island.. I personally love to sit on the deck and watch the loons or fish off from the dock to catch a musky or walleye for supper..

What makes this house unique

When our island is not being rented out to guests our family enjoys using our beautiful island home during the spring, summer and fall seasons.. We are closed during the winter months from Nov. 1st until May 6th..

The island getaway was a great place to get away and enjoy the outdoors with friends and family!

  • 4 of 5

The island and the cabin were great! The cabin size worked very well for out 12 adult guests and 1 child and the amenities for cooking made it very easy to get meals prepared for everyone. We did a little fishing, tubing, water skiing, and just cruising in both the rented pontoon and out own ski boat. Water was a little chilly because of the cool nights, but certainly manageable. There were hardly any bugs, so having campfires and telling stories every night was made easy! Our dogs were able to run free on the island without worry of getting onto anyone else's property and they were certainly worn out after the long weekend. I recommend the place to anyone looking for a private getaway away from it all! Thanks again!

always a fun time with family

  • 3 of 5

The owners were great and very easy to work with! While we were there, we had two of the property helpers assist us. One of them was great and the other so very unhelpful. The inside of the cabin was very clean and well stocked for visitors. Our whole group agreed that the outside needed a lot of help. Simply weeding and power washing all of the cob webs would have been a great start. While we were visiting the bugs we awful, I don't know if it was the time of year or something to do with the lack of outdoor maintenance. I would recommend bringing your own chairs to sit outside. The ones supplied were either broken, full of cobwebs, or made for children. Being on a private island is always cool. I recommend renting the pontoon. Would think twice about packing too much, it is not a fun chore to carry it all! I don't usually like to write reviews, especially since the owners of this cabin were so great, but I feel it is important to share my experience. I would go again if I knew the outdoors was tended to :)

Owner's Response: We appreciate all remarks from former guests whether pro or con as this helps us to address any issues for the betterment of our island property.. We are always elated to hear how very clean guests find the interior of our lake home plus how well stocked it is for our guests... We take much pride in cleanliness and receive many letters from former guests praising our cleanliness and tellling us how much they enjoyed their stay at our island.. Any outdoor cobweb and chair issues have been addressed..Thank you. Robert and Sharron, owners

Relaxing Stay

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in your island home mid September 2014. The fall colors were beautiful, peak I'm pretty sure. Your home is very private, very clean inside and suitable for large groups. We had 5 adults and 2 day visitors and we were more than comfortable. We enjoyed the campfire and of course the fishing. I now have a big fish story to tell and the fish that got away gets bigger and bigger everytime I tell my tale. One evening the lake was like glass and we caught one panfish after another right off the dock. Such fun! We did notice that the kitchen could use some more baking dishes, casseroles etc. Also some wine glasses would be nice. The dishwasher didn't work, but we had several dishwashers along that were willing to pitch in. The pontoon was easy to operate and we enjoyed a cruise around the lake, and docking wasn't a problem even though we aren't experts. Overall we had a wonderful time and thank the owners for sharing their home.

Owner's Response: We were elated to hear how much you enjoyed your stay at our beautiful island home.. Glad to hear that you caught so many fish!! Autumn certainly is a gorgeous time of the year with lots of warm sunny days, cool evenings and great fishing.. We take pride in maintaining a very clean place for our visitors..Thank you for that nice compliment.. Also, thank you for bringing to our attention about adding more baking dishes and wine glasses....This has been done and the dishwasher has been replaced with a new one.. Again thank you so much and hope to see you again next year.. The owners..

We stayed at this wonderful vacation home in August 2013 and are so excited to go back soon! We stayed with 8 adults and 4 toddlers/infants and it was the perfect setup. The house is very updated and beautiful, and the scenery is absolutely pristine. The deck is an exceptional place to cookout, eat, or just sit back and get in some reading. We all enjoyed the tranquility and privacy of the location, but we didn't have to feel like we were "roughing it" more than we wanted to with the hot tub, wi-fi, and modern updates. The boat was also great and easy to use (as someone who has minimal boating experience and had to use it in all types of weather). The firepit was our absolute favorite element of the trip. There was plenty of seating around it and it is situated right against the water with a beautiful view of the lake as well as the stars. Overall, it was a great experience. Our only disappointment was that swimming was pretty much a no-go due to the water temperature, but that was our failing, not theirs. We can't wait to return!

We really enjoyed meeting you..Besides fishing, one of the many incentives of vacationing at our private island is the enjoyment of complete privacy with family, friends and pets..Word of mouth is the best advertising we can get and thats why a good share of our business comes from repeat customers like you..Thanks again..Bob and Sharron
