About Andrew Thomas
La Residence is a very special place to friends, family and invited guests. As my children grow older and start to plan their own adventures La Residence remains the one anchor to our frenetic travelling lives. La Residence is not a typical rental home. We maintain it with love and care and enjoy sharing it with thoughtful guests.
Andrew Thomas purchased this Villa in 2000
Why Andrew Thomas chose Grand Sud
Pass through the bold iron gates and up the long sweeping drive and you have arrived at your destination. Choose a special spot in the garden and you can be alone in your Provencal bliss. Not another building in sight and the only sound you hear are the cicadas playing their symphony and the breeze catching the proud oak tress. Down the road is a brief walk down to the local farm shop and dinner supplies are replenished.
What makes this Villa unique
If you want to be energetic and explore the region (almost) everything you would hope to see and do is just a 30-minute drive away. There is something for everyone, of all ages. And when you want to just relax, read, swim, play, explore - there is a beautiful garden to call your own.

The perfect setting and villa for our family reunion
From the moment we arrived Paul and Ghislaine Durrant (property caretakers) made us feel right at home, from explaining the inner workings of the home to suggesting local restaurants.
The house and the beautiful gardens are ideal for groups of 4 - 10 and absorb guests effortlessly. Our family stayed for 2 weeks and at times had only 2 people in the villa at other times we had 8 adults and 2 small children, the house never seemed crowded. The house is well stocked with all the amenities you can think of and some you don't, like children's books in various languages. This is French living at its best.
The location is ideal and you quickly become part of the surrounding towns and villages. We took day trips exploring the various regions every day and have acquired a great appreciation for the French culture. We have already recommended this villa to several of our friends and our family is contemplating a return visit.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

A great week in Provence
The property was beautiful (as per the pictures) and fantastically located for Aix and local amenities. Having said that, we enjoyed the weather and the pool so much we barely left! The local restaurant is very good too for a nice meal out and a beautiful view. Would definitely come back...
A lovely, comfortable home shielded from the road by a long driveway. Approx 10 minutes drive to Aix and ideal for visiting the main sights in Provence. Only a 3 minute drive to Carrefour supermarket. The pool area directly outside the main sitting room is well maintained and the pool which is quite deep was always cool and refreshing. We dined under the stars several evenings and were able to BBQ. We would thoroughly recommend La Residence for a relaxing holiday in Provence.
Superb one week stay
The property is as tremendous as the photos portray. Plenty of space for three couples to spread out. Andrew, Paul and Ghislaine provided great recommendations that made visiting Provence, eating in and dining out effortless. Highly recommended
We all had an absolutely fantastic time. " Best holiday to date" was the quote. In terms of feedback La Residence exceeded our expectations. The web photos didn't do it justice. The location was perfect. It was so convenient to make short trips to the wonderful villages and towns in Provence and Cote D Azur. The facilities were great. Very spacious and peaceful. The place was immaculate. The outdoor area was perfect for relaxing by the pool and having lunch and dinner.
We found the whole process straightforward and directions spot on.
Paul the caretaker was very friendly.
We have already recommended it to our friends.
Thanks very much for the opportunity to have our holiday at La Residence
Best Villa Ever!
My wife and I along with my son and his wife were here for a week in late May. We could not have asked for a better location as we toured the region daily and came back to this beautiful villa each afternoon. what great place to stay. It really is better than the pictures. The villa really makes you feel like you belong and are a part of the south of France. Everything was wonderful and the caretakers onsite were more than happy to answer any question we had about the area .I would certainly stay here again and recommend this property to anyone .
'La Residence' is a beautiful property set in over 2-acres of lawns and garden. Surrounded by mature oak and pine trees and beautiful olive orchard with 300-year old trees (ideal for sitting under and reading a book with a glass of something to your fancy), you will discover the peace and beauty of Provence whilst benefiting from the convenience of having restaurants, farm and village shops, only a few minutes away.
Ideal family home - children are welcome!
Extra maid, babysitting and Chef service available by request.
The house has been designed and fitted with thought and detail to make sure every stay is memorable and frustration free.
Some of the most breathtaking and fun destinations are within 40 miles. A few minutes away, ‘le grand marché’, the Aix-en-Provence market is a not-to-be missed experience. And when you've had enough of driving, a lazy day by the pool, reading in the library or dining under the gazebo as the long, summer days, draw to a close, will nourish the soul. For the more energetic, we recommend hide-and-seek in the gardens or a post-lunch game of Petangue.
A short car ride away, Marseille offers a host of cultural and artistic events across the year.
From food, art, exhibitions, architecture and stunning rural beauty, Provence offers guests an unrivaled Mediterranean experience - and La Residence a fabulous country villa to explore it from.
Other Activities: golf, fishing (brown trout in the local river - rods and tackle provided), climbing & trekking, parachuting, gliding, white-water rafting, go-cart, picnics and Forest Adventure (flying fox and swinging through the trees).
