Enjoy the great Mid-Coast of Maine with all of its greatness, from sailing, lobster, state parks, hiking and quaint towns. Sit and relax and have a wonderful view of Belfast harbor from both decks. This wonderful air-conditioned 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage has been tastefully redesigned and completely furnished by award winning Janis Stone, from Interiors By Janis. The cottage features a wrap around deck on the first level, and a smaller lookout perch from the top deck. We have recently installed air conditioning to provide additional comfort. Take a short walk over the new footbridge to downtown Belfast to shop or enjoy one of the fun-filled events this summer in the lovely and culturally cool town of Belfast. Young's Lobster Pound and Perry's are also a short walk from the cottage. The town of Camden is 18 miles south and Bar Harbor is 58 miles north of Belfast.
The Beauty of Belfast: Belfast is a charming coastal town that represents the best of what a Maine vacation has to offer! The small town has restaurants and shops that make it fun for the whole family. The activities at the waterfront make this a great spot to spend a week or a month. Enjoy plays, concerts, and other cultural activities. Belfast has been called a culturally cool town. There are making working artists in town and they usually have their work on display.
My wife and I purchased this beautiful home several years ago, and look forward to spending a great deal of our retirement years here. We hope our guests enjoy our home as well as the town of Belfast and the surrounding areas as much as we do!
Dennis and Kerry
Dennis Kelleher purchased this house in 2007
The property is set up nicely for either one couple to enjoy or up to six guests. The large deck, which several Adirondack chairs that face the harbor make it for a very relaxing time. The house has been decorated by award winning interior designer Janis Stone.
The house is located near the footbridge, which provides access to the Main Street and the Belfast water front. The short walk over the footbridge provides spectacular views of the harbor. On the west side of the footbridge, the new rail to trail providers walkers, runners, bike riders a peaceful venue to enjoy views of the harbor as well. Belfast is located very close to the towns of Camden, Northport, Lincolnville, Searsport. There is a beautiful maritime museum in Searsport. Moosepoint State Park is a 3 minute drive to the north, and Fort Know and the Penobscot Observatory is a 15 minute drive to the north.
The town has such a quaint feel to it. There are several restaurants to visit, some on the waterfront and a few on Main Street. All very casual and perfect for a couple or families.
We have a good collection of books and movies for our guests to enjoy during their down time.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage - it is lovely - the weather was beautiful. We left about 9:00 on Sat, and everything was as we found it. A table on the deck would be nice because it would be great to eat breakfast outside - the mornings were just beautiful.
Note from Owner: After Marianna and her family's departure we purchased a nice picnic table for the deck. The table compliments the adirondack chairs that are located on the lower deck.
We loved this house! For a family of five (2 adults, 3 teens ages 14, 17, 18) it was a perfect fit - great location, super clean, wonderful amenities, and very comfortable! The kitchen is new and stocked with all the essentials including coffee filters/dish soap/towels, the dining room is a great place for a family meal or after dinner board games, the living room furniture is cozy with plenty of movies, games, books, and travel brochures to enjoy, the bathrooms are nicely stocked with fuzzy towels/soaps/toiletries, and the bedrooms are just lovely - beautiful furnishings, comfortable beds, soft sheets/blankets, lots of pillows, and books!! We all appreciated the AC and the technology - wi-fi/satellite/dvd player. This house is more than a homerun - it's a grand slam!!
Great location does not even begin to describe Belfast Maine. This is a beautiful harbor town within a short walking distance down the street and over a delightful footbridge. We kayaked alongside all of the beautiful sail boats and fishing vessels that fill the harbor and enjoyed the wonderful views from the walking path that meanders along the waterfront. There are numerous restaurants and shops to explore - we enjoyed dinner at the Nautilus Seafood & Grill, coffee at the Co-Op, croissants & yummy cookies at MoonBat City Baking Company, and movies at the Colonial Theater. We also loved the Museum in the Street signs that explain the interesting history that helped shape the architecture, economy, and culture of Belfast today.
The location for this home in midcoast Maine makes it ideal for exploring the surrounding area. We spent a day hiking in Acadia up to Bubble Rock and then headed into Bar Harbor for a yummy meal at Geddy's, shopping, and a nice stroll along the harbor. We also enjoyed Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge - the Observatory is really fun! We spent time in Bucksport to walk along the waterfront and stopped at antique shops along the way including Mainley Pottery where we picked up some beautiful keepsakes. This is the place - run don't walk to Belfast Maine!
An absolutely beautiful property that exceeded our expectations. We've vacationed near Belfast Maine for several years, but this was the first rental at this cottage. It is immaculate and delightfully decorated. Air conditioning was a great plus, especially during this extended hot spell we've been having in the northeast. The view was wonderful, and a few steps away was the footbridge which we had never walked over during our vacation stays elsewhere.
Belfast is a great town with a great vibe. People are friendly, stores are interesting, restaurants offer variety, and since it's not right on route 1, it's a bit quieter with a hometown feel without the hustle and bustle of towns such as Camden and Rockland. They are wonderful too, but it's great to get "home" to Belfast after a day trip to other places in midcoast Maine. We like to shop in Hannaford and also in the Belfast Coop.
At the location of the former Weathervane restaurant which was closed last year, we were pleased to see the Nautilus, formerly a bit further north on route 1. So glad to see this great spot occupied with a very nice restaurant! We also really like dining on the deck at Dockside; enjoying creative vegetarian food at Chase's Daily; and the delicious lobster pad thai at Seng Thai!
Dennis was completely responsive to any questions we had. Can't wait to come back next year!
I was in Belfast to visit my son, who is in a Boarding School in Morrill, in late January! This is my 5th time to Belfast in the last year, love this little town. Dennis was very accommodating with the arrangements, the driveway and deck were cleared of the snow! Highly recommend this cottage, very nice, beautifully decorated, and well equipped! Therea are also plenty of movies and games. Two nice decks, that overlook Belfast, what a great place to have coffee or cocktails when the weather is warmer. The cottage is perfectly located by the footbridge, and is an easy walk into Downtown Belfast, a very lovely little town. Three Tides, is a great place to have a craft beer, and oysters. Meanwhile in Belfast, a coal fired pizza restaurant, is amazing! Harborwalk Cafe, great for breakfast. Be sure to visit Eat More Cheese, a lovely cheese shop in town. If you want to cook at the cottage, check out the Belfast Co-op, perfect place to buy small amounts of olive oils and spices along with all kinds of other amazing foods. Belfast Co-op also has a little cafe.. If you want to take a little road trip, head to Camden for an incredible Thai meal at Long Grain, but be sure to make reservations even for lunch. You won't be disappointed.
My wife and I had a wonderful time while staying at the cottage in Belfast. The cottage is beautifully decorated, clean, and feels like a home away from home, with all the amenities you would need (WiFi, TV, DVD player, and laundry). HIGHLY RECOMMEND - YES!!! The area; so much to see, so little time. A nearby walking bridge leads you to downtown Belfast. Some of the restaurants we enjoyed were lunch at "Rollie's Bar and Grill" and dinner at "Delvino's Grill". Looking to relax and have some drinks while overlooking the bay? Check out "Three Tides" and enjoy the warmth of the old wood burning furnace while seated on the outdoor deck. All of these locations are just a short walk over the footbridge into Belfast. Belfast's Main Street has the small town charm and friendly locals that led us to, not only the touristy Bar Harbor area, but also to some quaint, off the beaten path, seaport towns like; "Castine" where we located the Dyce Head Lighthouse, and "Stonington" for some much needed lunch at the Harbor Cafe (great clam chowder). If you love lighthouses, try Mount Desert Island's Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse. A trip to Deer Isle took us through scenic views to include Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Fort Knox and some gorgeous sunsets reflecting off the water that we crossed on our way back to the cottage after a day of sightseeing. Looking for adventure? Try the low tide vehicle ride between Bar Harbor and Bar Island for a scenic hike. But, keep an eye on the time because you don't want to miss your opportunity to get back on dry land. And while in Bar Harbor try "Stewman's Lobster Pound" for lunch and its scenic views of the harbor while dining. Want even more scenic views, try nearby Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park (highest point in US East Coast). The views will last a lifetime. The best LOBSTER (recommended by locals and the cottage owner himself) - Young's Lobster Pound which is only about 1/2 mile from cottage. How do you finish off a great week? Try "Maine Daysail's" Schooner Timberwind for a sunset cruise. The cruise launches right across the bay from the cottage (take the footbridge). Many great memories were created on this trip and the pictures now frame the walls of our home. Thank You Dennis and Kerry Kelleher
We had a wonderful time staying here in Belfast. The home was incredibly clean and welcoming when we arrived. The rooms are all lovely and very comfortable. There was plenty of space for everyone to spend time together but also room to spread out and relax. It really helped having our own laundry there at the house as well as WiFi access. We loved the convenience of the walking bridge and being able to walk into downtown Belfast. The Belfast location is a great in-between spot to enjoy day trips to Bar Harbor as well as Camden and Lincolnville. Our family enjoyed our week here and highly recommend staying in this lovely home.
I must say our stay at the cottage was awesome. Just close to everything to be convenient, yet located in a place to be quite. Very cleaned and well equipped with all the you would need for a home away from home. We loved it and really look forward to saying there again.
Other Activities: Antiquing, golfing, hiking, kayaking, boat tours

Unfortunately, we cannot accept pets. There are local facilities that can care for your pets located in the Belfast area.
There are a good deal of activities throughout the year around Belfast. We are happy to rent the cottage on selected weekends during the fall, winter and spring!
