This beautifully restored small home in the heart of Williamstown is the perfect location for visitors to the attractions of The Berkshires. Walk to the theatre, the shopping & restaurants, the Williams College campus and the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute.
The house features a wonderfully open kitchen and dining space that will accommodate up to eight. A king bed master bedroom, two twins in the second upstairs bedroom, a full sized futon in the 3rd bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa provides sleep for 7-8 in total. The covered front porch and back paver stone patio provide the perfect relaxation spaces.
We stayed for a four-day weekend and really enjoyed the visit, and the house added to that. We arrived to find it immaculate. Good start!
The layout is very good with two-car parking that is convenient to the back door for carrying in luggage. You enter a really modern kitchen featuring a nice breakfast bar and an adjacent dining room with a great, big dining room table.
There is a sort of foyer in between there and the living room, and on front of the house a play room/3rd bedroom with fold-down futon. The downstarirs is roomy and comfortable.
The bedrooms are in the eves of the house, so on the edges they are a little short, but it didn't bother the kids at all, who had a great time playing and shared the bedroom with two twins. The master features a king bed, and while closets are out in the hallway, both bedrooms have dressers that offer more than enough storage for a temporary stay.
My wife loved the washer/dryer, and was ecstatic to return home with nothing but clean clothes. The basement was clean and neat and well lit, making the washer/dryer very accessible.
The two full bathrooms were modern and comfortable.
All in all, a very pleasing experience. As for location, I don;t think it can be beat. The house is a two-block walk from Williams College campus and downtown. We strolled - even in the cold - to a local bookstore, some restaurants, and even used the college track for a workout in the mornings.
The location is berkshire central, tucked up in the very Northwestern corner of Massachusetts, minutes from the VT and NY borders, close to some skiing, at the end of the Mohawk Trail (RT-2), and about 30 minutes from Lee's outlet shopping and Lenox's Tanglewood and other cultural sites. But, Willamstown is the place to stay. I don't think there si anywhere else in the area that allows for the same level of local, walking shopping, dining and other activities (i.e., we went to men's and women's basketball and hockey games at Williams College that weekend - all free).
Can't recommend the rental highly enough. This place is obviously the work of a very caring and skilled owner who has put in a lot of work and should take a lot of pride.
What can I say?!?!? Rent with absolute confidence that this is a great place! Owners are terrific - very accommodating! Location is great. If the devil is in the details... the owners have thought of pretty much everything. I even asked if there was a waffle maker and sure enough... there was! Location is great, walk to everywhere you would want in Williamstown. Back patio is super nice. The only reason I'm hesitant on this review is I don't want this place to be too popular as I don't want to stay anywhere else when I visit!
We stayed in February for a long weekend. The house was perfect for our family of 4 and could even easily accommodate a family of 6. There is a large kitchen area that is well stocked. This house is very cozy, comfortable and extremely clean. There was nothing that we went without. The location is great. Close to shops, restaurants, ski areas, etc. We will definitely go back! We just love this place. Thank to the owners for sharing there beautiful home.
We rented the house for three days and had a wonderful stay. The house is very conveniently located, exceptionally clean, very well stocked, and very comfortable. The advertisement pictures precisely represent the house – although the house was a bit bigger than the pictures suggested. We particularly enjoyed the using the large kitchen table, perusing the area guidebooks, and resting on the very comfortable couch, chairs, and bed. Its proximity to the College and the organic grocery store Wild Oats is fantastic! Because we are tall, we were concerned after reading online reviews that the master bedroom ceiling might not allow us to move around comfortably, but it was no problem at all – the bedroom was quite comfortable. We had absolutely no problems during our stay and found Amy (our contact) professional, efficient, and a joy to correspond with. During our stay, we enjoyed talking short trips to Pittsfield to visit Arrowhead, Melville’s house, and to Sheffield to shop for antiques. Our favorite area restaurant is Mezze, located only a few minutes away, driving. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this house to others, particularly families of 3-4, or couples on vacation. It was ideal for our travel needs and far more comfortable than staying in a motel or hotel. We loved it! Thank you!
The house had everything we wanted and more. Our stay was perfect. Thanks!
