About Gill and Rob Rones

Formerly an adverting art director and copywriter team from Manhattan, we fell in love with the rustic charm of High Falls. We set about restoring an 1850 farmhouse, which we've lived in for over twenty years, and followed up with a reconstruction of the barn on the property. Residing in the barn, we just couldn't leave the farmhouse feeling lonely. Thus,

A Little Guesthouse was born.

Gill and Rob Rones purchased this house in 1990

What makes this house unique

Besides the fun of splashing in the heated in-ground pool, visitors can dine al fresco at the umbrella covered picnic table, or on the brick patio, or indoors at the wooden farm table. There are games to be played, music to be heard, books to be read, videos to be watched, Wifi to be used, and cozy beds for having a nap.

A lovely country retreat

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay with Rob and Gill from the greeting chocolate cake and wine to the last delicious, healthy breakfast. In between we loved the spacious, restful, beautifully landscaped grounds. Our room was large, carefully decorated, very clean, with access to a kitchen and living room. The location is excellent, with several restaurants within walking distance and many places to visit nearby. We look forward to returning soon.

Perfect place to get away from the noisy city!

  • 5 of 5

All I can say is this place was amazing and I would highly recommend it. We had the best time! Rob and his wife treated my family so well and were especially understanding to having 2 (noisy) little ones on their property. The place was quaint with great upkeep. It's exactly as the pics shown. The service was 5 star. Thanks for the memories

Lovely, charming place, highly recommended

  • 4 of 5

Stayed a week with my family and friends in this lovely little home. We spent most of our time sitting in the grass, cooking, or in the pool, and we couldn't have been happier. The place is tidy but not fancy, comfortable beds, we would have stayed another month if we could have. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. It's a great biking area, a nearby and very inexpensive yoga studio, a food coop.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place! We look forward to staying here whenever we visit the area. Great for children, owners are right next door and incredibly hospitable and helpful. The pool is well-kept, the grounds are charming, and the house has a very comfortable personality of its own. Loved it. The Canal Walk, nearby, is nice, or even just strolling up the road. It must be remembered that this is an old house, with quirks like all old houses - the stairs can be tricky for some, so care must be taken. There is a firehouse nearby, and the siren goes off every day at noon and if there is a fire, so be aware. Not a big deal for us, but it might be a surprise to others. Antique shops and the famous DePuy Canal House Restaurant, as well as the Mohonk Mountain House (remember Road to Wellville? It was shot there!) are within walking distance. Can't wait to return!
