The farm is situated within the Nature Reserve of Lucciola Bella, located south-west of the town of Pienza and a small corner of the typical landscape of the Crete Senesi.
The main element of the Nature Reserve is certainly constituted by the landscape of gullies and especially biancane erosive forms, which are home to important but rare plants and wildlife especially birds.
The farm has a long history behind it.
It was the year 1924 when the Marquess Origo bought the farm of Foce, together with many acres of land.
Those were years when the Val d'Orcia was inhospitable with no vegetation; the couple built a great work of reclamation of these lands, building among other numerous hamlets (including Lucciola Bella), giving rise to a new political and social.
The famous street with cypress trees, leading to the house, was designed by architect Cecil Pinsent, the same one that was responsible for the construction of the Villa and the gardens of the Mouth.
