Welcome to Sunrise at Sol Point.
If rest and relaxation is what you crave do not look any further. The South Shore of Nova Scotia is the perfect antidote for the stresses of urban life.
The property is located in the authentic working fishing village of West Dover. Just 1 hour south of the Halifax International Airport and only 35 minutes from downtown Halifax. The famous Peggy's Cove lighthouse is within walking distance at less than 3 miles.
This converted and completely renovated former fish plant sits on a cliff directly on the edge of the ocean. At high tide gentle waves will lapp the piers the living/great room section of the house sits on.
You will arrive down a long private driveway off a dead end road to total privacy with the best water views from virtually every room, deck or patio. The only passers by are the local fishermen who still go out daily to check their lobster traps and nets. Their fishing boats sail by just a hundred feet from your living room window.
When we walked in the door, our mouths fell to the floor. We were awe-struck. The pictures and the write-up do not do this place justice. We marvelled at the house and its understated beauty and then we marvelled at the spectacular scenery, magnificient sunsets and fierce storm which was blessed with a full rainbow afterwards.
All this was underscored by the caretakers, Frida and Lawrence, who took care of our stay with warmth and respect and down-home friendliness.
I wished we could stay longer and imagined taking our family and grandchildren here.
I am leaving wanting more and more and more.
My wife and I, together with 3 other couples, rented Sunrise at Sol Point for a week this summer. We all had high expectations and these were greatly surpassed. The gorgeous home is even better than described, and the lovely pictures don't do the property justice. It is spacious, clean, and wonderfully equipped with new stainless steel appliances (including a wine fridge!). The views are spectacular. The building has been lovingly rebuilt to resemble the original fish plant, so it fits the local ecology to a tee. There's lots to do in the area - we spent happy days hiking, sightseeing (Peggy's Cove is next door; Halifax, Grand Pre, and Lunenburg are easy drives), cycling and kayaking. We enjoyed seeing bald eagles, seals, herons, and other wildlife. We would definitely recommend this spot to all who love spectacular coastal settings and the highest quality accommodations. And by the way, there is a cable internet connection that was not advertised, so came to us as a pleasant suprise.
Our group of 6 women just spend 5 wonderful days at this incredible home. Our group had such a great time. The house is so spacious - so much room to gather together as a group, we never felt crowded or cramped. The large kitchen was well equipped. The views were amazing! Waking up every morning to watch the sunrise and see the fisherman go out on their boats. It is even better in person than the pictures shown. We just can't say enough positive things about this house. The owners and caretaker were also great to work with - friendly and responsive.
Our party of 6 enjoyed a wonderful week at Sunrise at Sol Point. The views so amazing. The home sits on the edge of the water and provides a 270 degree panorama of the water and rocky coast. The home is comfortable and the open living area provides the great seating for converation and relaxation Our group enjoyed the easy drives to Halifax, Mahone Bay, and Lunenburg. These were great day trips which included tours and a sunset cruise in Lunenburg. Peggy's Cove is less than ten minutes from the home. Pictures simply are not adequate . The home and surroundings are 5 star.
The caretakers Lawrence and Frieda live nearby and were most hospitable and attentive.
We chose Sunrise at Sol Point for our family vacation after reviewing many different properties on Home & Away and other sites.
The previous reviews were all extremely positive which brought it to our attention more readily.
Well, it did not disappoint. Simply an amazing home with all amenities you would want for a vacation on the east coast. The four kayaks and life jackets were an added treat and well used during our 10 day stay.
A five minute drive to Peggy's Cove, lots of little islands to kayak to and around, about 30 minute drive to downtown Halifax - all good.
We barbecued and did most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen.
The living room easily accommodated our five adults and two children and the four bedrooms are all roomy enough for comfort, especially the master bedroom with huge ensuite bathroom.
We will be back for another east coast vacation and to Sunrise at Sol Point.
Beautiful home with all the amenities you could ever want. Everything in this home is top of the line. I enjoy cooking so for me the kitchen was to die for. Our four teenage grandchildren
were thrilled to be there during the hurricane, not too happy with losing our lights but that
was to be expected.
A special thanks to caretakers Frida and Lawrence for all their help.
Hope to return again.
We stayed three nights at Sunrise at Sol Point and absolutely loved this home. The location on the water was incredible with the most fabulous views. Sunrise in the morning was breath-taking. The house was beautifully furnished and completely equipped from the kitchen with everything you could imagine to the bathrooms with soaps, shampoos, and blow dryers. We were totally spoiled and wished we lived close enough to come back often. We highly recommend Sunrise at Sol Point.

The house is situated on the edge of the Peggy's Cove preservation area. There is no development between West Dover and the Lighthouse at Peggy's Cove. The shoreline with its bold ocean views, rugged granite cliffs and raw nature make this area a perfect place to walk or hike. Nature lovers will be amazed by the thousands of pitcher plants growing in boggy spots everywhere.
Come and experience what most of the lighthouse visitors never see.
