Amazing Views and Stunning Sunsets
You arrive late and travel weary, have a quick drink and retire. You get up the next morning to a stunning view across the bay and go "WOW" - and you realise that the journey was well worth the effort. to top this off, the Sunsets viewed from the balcony were equally sensational.
The apartment itself was clean and spacious, the kitchen equipped enough for the occasional bit of cooking, and there was a small supply of books to chose from.
Given the time of year we were very fortunate to get good weather and made sure to dine "al fresco" at every opportunity at the local restaurants.
Having access to the owner was a great help and the offer of a delivery of fresh bread every morning was a very nice and very welcome touch.
Would we go back? most definitely yes!
Spacious and delightful location
We enjoyed a delightful 12 day stay in this appartment during October 2015. The apartment has absolutely stunning views and some of the best sunsets on the peninsula. The owner Fidayit was very helpful before and during our stay - nothing was too much trouble and any small issues were seen to immediately. I am sure we will return next year,
Thanks for your review. It was lovely to meet you both. We are very happy that you have enjoyed your holiday and the holiday home. Hope to see you again soon in Kas.
Everything OK, nice stay, nice people, very relaxing
Hope to see you again in Kas.
The tourist industry is centred on the pleasant town of Kas. The district can be reached from both Antalya and Dalaman airports.
Kas itself is a quiet pleasant town with its blue sea and narrow streets scented with jasmine flowers. There are plenty of quiet cafes serving home cooking, or small bars to relax after a day's scuba diving. Kas has an annual arts festival, jazz concerts in the Hellenistic theatre and the Kiln under the Sea arts collective have held underwater ceramics exhibitions here.
Kas is one of the leading spots for scuba diving in Turkey. There are more than 15 diving centres, mostly located at the local port. They offer guided diving trips if you are a certified diver. If you have no prior experience in diving, y a diving school, many places with equipment for hire and at the port local divers offer courses. If you can have a 'try dive' accompanied with a dive master or a full diving certificate course with an internationally approved diving instructor. If you decide to try diving in Kas you can expect to see a beautiful array of fish and other sea creatures like octopus and sea turtles. Besides the biological diversity, Kas offers a vast variety of underwater cultural heritage. Among various wreck sites, six artificial wrecks are worth visiting. These wrecks are submerged to create artificial reefs and touristic diving spots. These wrecks are mostly placed within recreational limits. There are two historically important wreck sites, an airplane from WWII and a cargo ship from 1950's sink near the small islands in the extremities of Kas. One last important diving spot is so called 'Kas Archaeopark Site' that is an experimental archaeology project conducted by Underwater Research Society (Sualtı Arastırmaları Dernegi-SAD) in 2006. In this scientific project, an interpretative reconstruction of the Uluburun wreck and its cargo is placed underwater.
Outdoor sport activities attract the more adventurous visitors of Kas, especially small group holidays from Europe and independent travellers. To name a few popular adventures:
• Sea Kayaking at Kekova,
• Mountainbiking the backcountry
• Trekking the Lycian Way
• Canyoning in the Kibris Canyon
On Fridays, Greek visitors from nearby islands such as Kastelorizo visit the markets of Kaş.
According to the 2014 census, the town has 7,041 residents and the whole district (together with the villages) has 55,135 inhabitants. Kaş has 5 municipalities (Gombe, Kalkan, Kınık, Ova and Yeşilkoy) and 48 villages.
Places of interest
The town of Kas has a Hellenistic theatre and many other places of historical interest; and it has spots of natural beauty, including excellent beaches, and a number of interesting caves, some of them underwater.
For scuba divers there are several spots underwater, one of them being an underwater sculpture of a shark sculpted by Kemal Tufan.
The mountains behind the coast offer countless places for trekking, climbing and canyoning.
The ruins of the antique cities of Komba (in the village of Gombe), Nisa, Kandyba, Phellos, Istlada, Apollonia, Isinda and Kyaenai.
A popular excursion from Kas is Kekova island in the neighbouring district of Demre. Here in the magnificent bays you will see a surprising variety of wrecks of ancient ships and ancient cities sunk under the sea by earthquakes over the centuries. The sea is so perfectly clear that the details of city buildings such as staircases or columns can be seen from the boat. The area is ideal for sea kayaking. In December 2006 Kaş was added to the specially protected Kekova marine area in order to preserve its rich biodiversity.
