The five houses are very well equipped and warmly decorated. The host is very friendly and happy to give very good tips and advices.
You have a gorgeous view on over the small town Palmela and its beautiful castle as well as the city Setúbal and the sea. You definitely need a car to explore this wonderful region.
By car you can reach such a big variety of wonderful places nearby. The closest beaches around Sétubal can be found in a 20-30 min beautiful drive by car through the natural parc Serra Arrábida. There is a variety of well prepared bigger sand beaches with restaurants or bars as well as very small, less visited beaches with the wonderful azure blue water. Also the sea there is quite calm, so perfect for snorceling or other things.
In 30-50 min (either by ferry or car) you can reach the endless sand beaches of Troia, also located in a natural parc, a reservat for wild birds. Again you can choose in between the more crowded beaches with installed sunshades or you go a bit further along the beach to find kilometers of sand beach just for yourself.
Lissabon is very close, 25-40 min, too. I strongly recommend visting the coastline around Cascais as well, with the enormous cliffs most western of Europe. On the way you can visit the ancient city of Sintra, a world heritage.
For dinner or drinks Setúbal provides a great option of original portugese kitchen, a paradise for fish and sea food lovers, ("Nuovo 10", "Solar do Marques") as well as small extraordinary restaurants like "Bistro Pepper", "Taberna do largo"
