Welcome to Lo Stallino, a beautifully restructured former stable located in the hills of the Chianti region of Tuscany 60 km from Florence and 20 km from Siena. The property consisting of five acres of terraced olive orchards, landscaped gardens, and woods, was originally purchased by an American doctor in 1970 as a retirement home. It is currently owned by his son and daughter-in-law, an archaeologist and a landscape architect, who have completely restored the old stable building as their guest house. It is now a charming one bedroom cottage with beautiful views of vineyards and medieval castles, a private garden terrace for outdoor dining, and a large library of novels and guidebooks.
Lo Stallino also features a new kitchen and bathroom, new upholstery for the furniture, hand-made mattresses for the beds, central heating, a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, satellite TV, and wireless internet access. It is ideal for a couple seeking tranquility from the crowds but proximity to the important cultural centers of Tuscany. There are numerous fine restaurants and wineries in the area, as well as cafes and shops in the nearby villages of Lecchi, Radda, and San Sano. There are also hiking trails and natural pools for swimming in the area.
We had an idea how much we would like your cottage from our friends' description. However, Lo Stallino far exceeded our expectations. We loved every moment we spent here and wish our time in this idyllic setting could have been longer. We cannot thank you enough for sharing this very special place with us. We are also most grateful for all your guidance and information. As we predicted, our time spent at Lo Stallino was the most treasured of our trip to Italy. Thank you for an unforgettable fours days.
You have created the perfect Tuscan refuge. Thanks for your hospitality, for the history lesson, for the recommendation to eat in town, and for letting us feel part of the family.
Thank you so much for welcoming us to your beautiful home. We had a wonderful three weeks and we wish could have stayed even longer. The cottage was everything we could have hoped for: a great place to work, but also a fabulous base from which to explore the beautiful country. For future guests, we particularly recommend the cookery school (with the lovely Simone) at Malborghetto in Lecchi, as well as the wine tasting at Castello di Ama, but it's pretty hard to go wrong around there. Thank you once again, and we very much hope to stay with you again in the future.
Tom and I had a wonderful time made especially so by your charming and beautiful abode. We especially loved the the firefly symphony in the evening.
Thank you so much. We have had the most peaceful and idyllic stay (5 days, much too short!) A perfect base to explore Tuscany - or do nothing. I want to wrap it all up and take it home!! Cheers.
As we leave this astoundingly beautiful place,we have refected how lucky we have been to have stayed here... You made our first stay in Italy so special by allowing us to "live" in your lovely 'Lo Stallino,' by providing us with food when we arrived, by attending to our every inquiry, by providing the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! Thank you for helping to make our 25th wedding anniversary trip to Italy such a memorable experience! The prosecco was such a nice touch! We know we live a blessed life when we experience a stay as special as this... We truly loved Chianti, Tuscany, Italy, and most of all, meeting you and staying so comfortably in your beautiful 'Lo Stallino'. Until next time...
P.S. Made a great pot of "white beans uccelletto" using your wonderful cookbook, "Food alla Florentine'" in your clay crock! The place was so well-equipped. Thank you!
