I grew up in Noank, and recently moved back. I have five children who all learned to sail and swim here in the summer. I am an independent historian and a volunteer for many projects in the community.
Patricia Oat purchased this house in 2007
The house was built in 1780 and beautifully restored. The property is surrounded by 2 acres of open space.
The house has modern appliances but retains the character of a 200 year old home. You can walk to the beach. I have kayaks available to borrow. There are many walking and biking trails nearby.
A perfect place to stay to enjoy all that Southeastern CT and RI have to offer. As grandparents of a local preschooler, this was a magical place to be. Close to family, but not toooo close. Granddaughter spent the night and enjoyed the antique highchair and stuffed animals in the antique baby bed. We loved the gorgeous house, antique furniture, great kitchen, washer/dryer, beach chairs, nearby beach and charming, thoughtful home owner. Looking forward to future visits to this charming home. A privilege to live, for too short a time, in a piece of American history! Highly recommended.
What a wonderful time we had in Noank. The cottage was full of charm and set in a peaceful and private setting, but only a five minute drive away from bustling Mystic with it's boutiques and restaurants. Patty was super sweet and helpful, she even provided toys for our 2 year old which was great as we didn't have room to bring many toys with us.
We will forever remember our holiday in CT.
The house is delightful and Patricia is lovely. We had a serene mid-winter stay here and particularly enjoyed the sunlight streaming through the windows, the unusually well-equipped kitchen, and eating meals at the kitchen table by the fireplace. The period details of the house are fantastic. Remodeling has been done sensitively, leaving the period charm intact while allowing for luxurious modern conveniences (internet with your tweny-inch wide pumpkin pine floors, anyone?). I'd love to stay there again, and will recommend it to friends and family looking for a quiet place near so many tourist destinations.
We are in the midst of an amazing stay in this beautiful home. Filled with character and history, and offering beautiful furniture and all the comforts of home, this has been the perfect spot for us to relax and unwind from a busy life of work and school.
Some days, we walk or ride to the village of Noank to play on the playground, enjoy a lobster roll or an ice cream, and grab a few groceries and a bottle of wine. Some days we wander over towards Esker Point and Groton Long Point, for a seaside lunch or dinner at one of several restaurants, or a little beach time. The house is a short drive to all that Mystic has to offer, and also close to the great nightlife offered at the casinos, some lovely farmers markets, and several pick-your-own farms, there is plenty to do in the surrounding area - but truthfully, we spend most of our time in the huge yard: grilling, lounging on chaises and reading, playing under the sprinkler, and enjoying the peonies and the wildlife that wander through from time to time. Fresh berries every morning and s'mores every night, our children will remember this summer forever. What a gift.
Thanks so much for sharing this special place with us :)
We hope to be back in the fall for a weekend of pumpkin and apple picking!

5 Guys Burgers

And so much more. Our days have been filled with fun and sun !
This is a lovely house if you are a fan of real colonial charm and antiques. There are two bedrooms with double beds and a small upstairs bathroom. There is a twin bed for a small child only. The little bed on the landing is an antique. The garden is large and the site quiet. We loved the little village of Noank which is a ten minute walk away. Great for picnics and boat watching. The owner, who is very helpful, lives next door at times.
My husband and I rented this charming home for 3 evenings in August.
We needed a quiet and relaxing time together and this was just the place! The home is rich in historic character but yet has many updated amenities. We cooked both breakfast and dinner at the the home. We ate our breakfast in the country kitchen by the open hearth and our dinner in the historic formal dining room.
The quaint fishing village was a pleasure to shop!
Make sure to get the best lobster roll at Ford's and to purchase delicious French bread (and pastries etc..) at the French bakery in town. The beach is about a 5 minute drive and is quiet, clean and relaxing. The home and backyard felt as if it was our own. The home and yard are very clean and private! It was truly a most memorable and relaxing time! Thank you Patricia !
