Wow, What a place. This was the first time for us to visit Hawaii with our young family, and this place is the perfect fit. You clearly thought of everything and your condo is beautiful.
This was probably the most well stocked and well equipped vacation rental we have ever stayed at - down to little swimmer diapers under the sink, laundry detergent in the laundry room and an ice maker on the fridge
While the Big Island is always incredible, our recent trip to Mauna Lani was truly one of the best because of our gorgeous accommodations in Jan's Fairway condo. The pictures and descriptions can't capture the quality, ambiance and location of this property. The accommodations are well decorated with attention to detail (pictures, furniture, kitchen amenities, electronics including TV, Music, etc) and you truly feel like you are at a 'home away from home'. Jan helped with the details of our stay and so many great suggestions for the surrounding area including food, beaches and activities. We've been to Mauna Lani many times without our children and the condo proved to be a perfect combination of luxury and location. Truly a paradise made even better by the accommodations and hospitality!

LET US SPOIL YOU in our beautifully decorated home in a Hawaiian Paradise. Travertine tile floors throughout the downstairs, granite & stainless kitchen stocked with the gourmet chef in mind. We have a Viking gas barbecue on the lanai. There are lots of private areas for reading and contemplation of your tropical surroundings: a custom built window seat in the guest bedroom with a view towards the golf course and a comfy sitting room off the master bedroom looking out towards the pool.
Don't confuse our home with the small 2 bedroom units at Mauna Lani Fairways. OUR HOME IS THE LARGER FAIRWAYS 2 BEDROOM MODEL (approx.1700 sq.ft.) that has all the conveniences you will need including washer/dryer, Jacuzzi tub, and private baths in both guest and master suites.
For our guests who want to REMAIN CONNECTED, there is WI-Fi internet access throughout the house. 3 TVs, 2 DVD and Streaming Ne-Flix. We also have a CD/Ipod set-up in our living room so you can bring your favorite music.
WE HAVE ONE OF THE BEST LOCATIONS AT THE FAIRWAYS AT MAUNA LANI. From the downstairs lanai looking out towards the pool, enjoy the lovely swaying palm trees, lush green lawns, and tropical plants while dining in semi-privacy as our home is tucked away from the pedestrian traffic areas. From the second floor balcony, enjoy morning coffee while gazing at the beautiful Kohala mountains. Our North/South orientation provides protection from the famous trade winds off the mountains while delighting in outside living. ...and our location is distant from the large lava fields that encapsulate the golf course units.
YOU WON'T ARRIVE TO AN EMPTY CUPBOARD. We cheerfully provide basic staples. You won't arrive and find 1 roll of toilet paper at our house or just a salt and pepper shaker in the guest food cabinet. If you are arriving late, our Property Manager can arrange to have AM breakfast supplies waiting for you. If you are a new visitor to our island, let us be your remote concierge. We collect many suggestions about restaurants and excursions that we are happy to pass on to you.
Our guests have SPECIAL ACCESS TO THE HOMEOWNERS BEACH club that includes a full service restaurant and new cabanas along the beach. This is a wonderful snorkeling area for beginners and veteran snorkelers.
Stroll to the world famous Orchid hotel for evening poupus or walk to our nearby shopping center each morning for a morning coffee at our neighborhood market. Everything you need is at your fingertips for a relaxing vacation experience
My father fell in love with Hawaii while working here in the 1960s. It became my parent's very favorite vacation destination. I have wonderful memories of vacationing on the Big Island with my entire family which soon included my own children too. I was grateful to be able to purchase our home away from home in 2006. Now my husband and I can pass on the legacy of family times in Hawaii to our grandchildren.

You will feel very welcomed in our vacation home. If you are vacationing with your special partner, you will enjoy our large master with attached sitting room, private upstairs lanai, and outsized bathroom. Soak in your own jacuzzi tub or experience our large walk in shower with multiple jets.
If you're coming with friends, there's privacy for all in an ensuite guest room.
If you wish to bring the family, there is all sorts of beach equipment - boogie boards, sand toys, coolers, chairs, umbrellas and beach towels.
Everyone will enjoy wi-fi, cable tv with streaming amazon, and a lending library drawer to choose your beach read.
You will enjoy the parklike spaciousness between units. The townhouse design avoids neighbors above or the neighbors below and you will never be bothered by noise from the neighbors next door. You will find our unit to have a good deal of privacy as we look across spacious lawn and tropical gardens. Our plumeria trees just off our lanai provide shade and a delicate fragrance for your enjoyment.
Your vacation home is ready for your arrival. You will find a kitchen stocked with both staples and all the tools needed to enjoy home cooked meals.
You can choose to have the relaxation of a lifetime in our wonderful home at Fairways or to be busy 24/7. Spend the day with a book on the beach gazing at the Pacific Ocean at our private beach club. Choose from a varied menu of food and drinks at the restuarant on site. OR, make a picnic, pack the cooler, bring the boogie boards, beach toys and hiking shoes and spend the day at the beach snorkeling, playing in the ocean and taking off from the beach to hike the fisherman's trail.
Golf at our two beautiful courses and enjoy guest of owner rates.
Shop at the Mauna Lani shops, and have dinner at restaurants ranging from Four Season's grill, to Blue Dragon, and Bamboo. Eat at the restaurants right on property such as Tommy Bahama's or Ruth Chris Steak House.
Travel far afield. Hike the coast or the cool mountain trails, see the volcano flowing into the sea at night, enjoy a once in a lifetime experience of sunset at the top of 13,000 foot Mauna Lani, or learn about Hawaiian history at the City of Refuge.
Once back home, enjoy dinner on our lanai fixed with local food from our farmer's markets and fresh fish markets.

This morning I was thinking longingly about sitting on the patio at your place in the Mauna Lani. It made me realize that I hadn't thanked you and told you what a great time we had. It was the first extended trip Holly and I have taken without kids since our daughter was born 8 years ago! It was perfect. We love to cook and spent each morning making a great breakfast and sitting on the patio. Explored the island more than we've done in the past. We got to snorkel together, rather than trading off so someone could be with the kids on the beach. All in all it was terrific. Thanks for making it available. We'd love to do the trip again and will check back to see if you are still renting.
The condo location and condition are terrific. 4 family members shared the property and there was plenty of room and comfort for everyone. The condition of the property is ideal, very attractive but livable. We were within a 10 minute walk to The Fairmont Orchid or the Mauna Lani, both great places to enjoy while visiting the island. The condo complex is very well maintained and quiet, yet close to everything you need, grocery store, restaurants, The Beach Club...

My husband and I just returned from a 2 week stay at Jan Gilman's fantastic condo! We knew the minute we opened the door that we had selected an amazing property. Beautifully furnished without being fussy. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need. I so appreciated the quality of everything from the knives to cookware to dinnerware. We could truly relax and gladly ate in whenever we felt like it. The grounds surrounding the condo are beautifully kept. We used the pool a few times- a great experience with only a few people there. The location of the condo was great for us as we explored the northern end of the island. It was hard to leave but we're hoping that we can return someday. Jan's condo has certainly spoiled us for any other rentals we do in the future.
From the moment one steps in the front door to this clean, spacious condo, it's obvious that the owner of this unit cares about quality. From the high end pots and pans to the modern, new appliances, this unit delivers comfort and convenience. The location is close to the pool, and it's also an easy walk for a drink and sunset at the Orchid Hotel or, if one is so inclined, to take a morning walk to a nearby strip mall which has a nice coffee shop and grocery store. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
This was our first trip to Hawaii and actually our first time trying out VRBO. Bottom line...what a wonderful experience. The owner and the property manager are very pleasant people. The townhouse is beautiful and comfortable, it really feels like staying at home. It is a much better alternative to a hotel or an overcrowded resort. The kitchen was perfect, with colorful plates that just brightened up the table. I have to say that all the furniture not only looks great, But it's also very comfortable, including the patio furniture. Love the dining table! By the way, there is a small grocery story a couple minutes away that has just about all the basics, it’s very convenient. In the same shopping area, there are various events in the evenings throughout the week, so check out their events calendar if you’re interested.
The gated community in general is very clean and the grounds are meticulously manicured. It is a pleasure to go out and stroll around. The pool area is very well maintained with beautiful landscaping, pergolas and water features. It’s a bit of walk, but the coast is within walking distance, especially if you’re looking to get some exercise. The private beach access is wonderful, although I’d recommend just packing up the kids and beach toys in the car and driving.
The Waikaloa area truly is amazing. During our week long stay we explored quite a bit around the island and had a good mix of weather. Waikoloa must be a small micro climate because while it was cloudy or raining in other parts on the west side of the island, this area was sunny and warm. It’s a beautiful location. And one week is definitely too short, to explore the west coast. We’ll just have to come back again...Thank you for this opportunity. It was a real pleasure.
Best area around. Best condo also. Fully equipped with everything you might need and then some. Quiet and peaceful. Truly relaxing vacation, would come back in a heartbeat, and we will.
We've been to Hawaii many times, but our most recent trip was the best yet. No small part of that was our very comfortable 13 night stay at Jan and Michael's wonderful townhome. The Mauna Lani resort area is amazing, with lots of places to walk and explore. Can't wait to return someday!
Beautiful golf courses, great snorkeling beach, easy access to groceries, great restaurants, walking paths, fitness classes on the beach. Live theater and concerts.
Variety of farmer's markets featuring organic and locally grown produce. Easy access to commercially run excursions. The Big Island is home to an active volcano. There are excursions that provide a chance to witness this dramatic event.
