It has been very hectic since returning from our weekend retreat. I wish we were still there. We had a great time. The house was gorgeous and we only wish we could have stayed longer. Time went way too fast!! Thank you so much for the wonderful basket of goodies! What a nice surprise!
We will probably be in touch to see about availability sometime in the late spring or summer. I would love to see how different everything looks when there are leaves on the trees.
When our first granddaughter was born in 2001, we decided to start an annual tradition of spending 2 weeks doing fun things together and just bonding with family. So, this is our 8th year renting a house in the Poconos, and we have never stayed at such a lovely home, with such accommodating hosts. It was really more like being in a bed and breakfast. It’s not just a
house; it’s a real home, in fact, more like staying in a friend’s home. The house is decorated and maintained beautifully, and everything they advertise about it is true (and even modest). We had the best time we’ve ever had, and our extended family members who came with us were impressed that we finally found the perfect vacation home (they’ve stayed with us at the other houses we’ve rented). We cannot thank Jean and Dan enough for sharing their getaway with us, and are already making plans to return next year. Honestly, I cannot say enough about it, I would highly recommend this house to anyone, and in fact, have already told several friends about it.
As far as things to do, because our 'kids' are small, they are very happy at the pool and beach (and arrowhead lake pools and beaches were great); and also going out for ice cream and 'jumping' at the arcade/mini-golf/ice cream/etc entertainment place not to far away on Route 940. A bit further, but worth the trip, is the lovely town of Jim Thorpe, with sightseeing, train rides, shopping, restaurants ... very quaint for a day out.
I am trying to get in touch with the owners to rent this home, Does anyone have a contact number or email for them.
We can say we were extremely pleased with our stay at the Wiest Chalet. We arrived to a spotless well maintained home, that had more than everything you need to enjoy the stay. Jean kept in touch the whole time leading up to our trip. Ran everything by us to make sure we had a clear understanding of everything before we got there. The pictures don't do the house justice, once you get there the house is 5 times better than what you see in pictures. Every room was a comfortable setting, the pool table kept us all entertained, the deck with the grill and fire pit had everyone wanting to stay in and not go out. There are a few trails to go hiking in, everything is fairly close to the house without taking up your whole day to get out. It was truly a great all around experience wish I could put everything into words. Our group of 8 enjoyed the stay and we are already planning another trip back which will be at this amazing home.
This chalet was absolutely perfect for our weekend ski getaway! There was plenty of room for the 8 of us to be comfortable, my only suggestion would be to have more seating in living room. The house comes equipped with everything you may need to cook a large meal (pots/pans/spices/utensils/dishes). Jean & Dan were very responsive, we had an issue and Jean responded very quickly to solve our problem. It was a cold weekend so the hot tub was a plus! We will definitely be looking to rent this home again next winter!
From the moment we arrived we were thrilled with our decision to choose THIS home for our Arrowhead Lake Labor Day weekend get-away! I didn't know it was possible to walk into a vacation house and instantly feel comfortably AT HOME, but this house did it for certain! Every single room, inside and out was perfect. Our children enjoyed the billiards table on the first floor (and we enjoyed watching them self-occupied by it for hours of fun). Our children also enjoyed having the top floor of the chalet to themselves. Our bed in the master suite was super comfortable, the cool-cool mountain breeze through the balcony door was delicious, and the SUPER quiet mountain morning, UH! positively delightful. The open family spaces (kitchen, dining, living room, deck, recreation room on the first level, and cool, quiet backyard) were excellent. Honestly, we weren't at the house for an hour before our children started asking if visiting this chalet would become a regular family trip for us. Over the weekend the question evolved into, "Can we buy this house? Can we live here all the time?" Yes, it was that great. We enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit, the deck, and the billiards. We spent a majority of two days outdoors and kayaking all over Arrowhead Lake. We brought our own children's kayaks with us and used the two adult kayaks available at the property. We enjoyed a swim at The Island pool on the last day, and playing at the playgrounds. We also enjoyed visiting friends who lived nearby on Wyoming Road. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, our entire family, who planned to be with us had to miss the vacation. We had no regrets going ahead with our plans and enjoying the weekend, nonetheless. We DO plan to come again AND bring the whole family with us next time. The hardest part is not loading up the car THIS weekend and coming right back! We savor the thought of the seasonal enjoyment your property offers! There is plenty to do at Arrowhead Lake AND plenty to enjoy by simply relaxing and taking in the delightful Pocono environment. Whether guests come to PLAY HARD or RELAX DEEPLY, this home is the perfect place. I know our children wouldn't want it any other way! It was SO wonderful and such a delightful experience, I know that WE cannot wait to return. Thank you for making your exceptional home available to us!
We just returned home from our one week stay at this rental property! Overall we had a good experience! Let me first talk about the positives! The 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms were great to have and provided enough sleeping and showering opportunies for our group! The hot tub was well maintenced (although I felt the location of the hot tub was a bit odd) and the golf cart was a nice bonus that we enjoyed searching for deer with! The welcome basket full of food/snacks was very nice of the owners! The bed that I slept in was comfortable and the attached master bathroom was clean and roomy! Now- there are a few things I like to mention that we were "disappointed" with or we felt needed to suggest for future stays! Our biggest disappointment was with the lack of available storage space for renters things! For example the kitchen, we bought a lot of food with us as we planned to eat breakfast n dinner each day at the house and the very limited cabinets were almost all full of stuff! It had appeared either previous renters left a lot of stuff behind or the owner tried to provide a lot of food/Etc! I think it was a combination of the two but unfortunately, it really ate up ALOT of space! There was food leftover in the fridge and maybe other renters would use mayo left in the fridge but not us! Same with the closets. There is a closet on the main level fulled to capacity with what I assume was the cleaning crew stuff and misc stuff such as old decorating furnishings! This closet would of been great to use as renters to storage more of their stuff such as coolers, packs of paper towels, etc! There is a coat closet downstairs that had coats in there along with once again misc stuff! It was pretty full! This place once again we felt should of been emptied out and available storage for rentals! All the items storaged in this closets and throughout the house, we felt should of been storage in the "private" labeled room on the lower level! Even though the kitchen was full of misc stuff, I still didn't feel the kitchen was well equipped! We ended up going to Walmart to buy certain things such as a measuring glass! Another suggestion would be to provide more seating in the living room! There is only seating for 3-4 ppl max n the love seat chair arm is in need of repair! Communication with owner started to "decrease" the closer we got to our stay n during our stay! But even with the negatives, the house still provided us with a great one week vacation!
