Guestbook comments from the owner

The Petersons stayed at our home this past month and had nothing but accolades about its charm and accessability to all of Door County. Four couples stayed at our home with plenty of room to spare. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances. The sun porch is a great place to sit with a glass of wine. The Petersons really liked the fireplace, which is two stories tall.

Amazing! We had a great time and we'll be back next year, and the year after...

When we walked in the door, we knew we had hit the jackpot!

Very Cozy

  • 5 of 5

This place was more than I expected. It's exceptionally clean and comfy with plenty of room for larger families. It had everything that we needed to make it an enjoyable time.

It's only a short walk down to the bay and a great location to be in. Hoping to return again next year!

Beautiful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cabin located in a wooded area. Wonderfully furnished, clean and organized. It had everything we needed to stay for a week. Close to Hwy 42 but in a peaceful area. The cabin was spacious, warm, inviting and cozy. I can't wait to stay again next year!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments about our home. It is a beautiful log home cabin with five bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. It is a fun location for up to 10 people, but is equally warm and inviting for a romantic getaway.

My family stayed in this Door County home for a week in August, 2016. While we were there, we had problems with the air conditioning (owner arranged repair) and television reception (owner could not get satellite company to repair during our stay).

Overall, the house was cluttered and felt neglected. We found the window shades for the upstairs bedrooms in the closets and put them up ourselves. We changed five lightbulbs in the kitchen and dining area alone. The shower curtain in the master bath was rigged up and was dirty at the bottom. The bed linens and towels were worn out. While the lawn was neatly mowed, the geraniums in the window boxes were all plastic.

There were some positives. The house had plenty of room for our family. The mattresses were very good and the screened porch was a lovely place for morning coffee. The location was terrific and the wooded lot was beautiful. There was a good outdoor grill on a large deck.

The owners responded quickly to the failure of the air conditioning and TV and they appropriately compensated us for the problems we encountered. Now I hope that they recognize that they have a home that has the potential to be very charming with a little TLC.

Owner's Response: My husband and I were very unhappy when our home received this rating because we worked very hard to address every concern of these guests. I think my husband was on the phone with DirecTV over 12 times. We had paid DirecTV for extra-prompt service, but did not immediately receive this service. I am sure any of you who have had problems with cable know that it can be a very frustrating experience. Relative to the air conditioner, it was fixed immediately. And because of the renter's inconvenience, I returned a substantial portion of their rental fee. There wasn't much more I could do, so I was surprised to receive this rating after the fact. In addition, we have no plastic flowers at our home and our bedding is new, purchased this spring. That being said, I went out and purchased additional new, high-quality towels and sheets to better meet our renter's needs. Our guests are our top priority, as you can see from all of the five star ratings we have received. This is our only less than five star rating.

A Door County Gem

I highly recommend this home for a vacation rental. It accommodated three couples sufficiently with plenty of room to spare. Ephraim is a great location if you’re going to trek about the area, which is what we did. Some favorites of the home were the back deck with wooded privacy and three season room comfortably furnished. Plenty of wood stocked for the huge fireplace that was nice for the cooler evenings, even in July. Value for money was evident by all who stayed; I look forward to returning in the future.

A Week Well-Spent

  • 5 of 5

Very accurate listing. Excellent leafy, quiet, casual accommodations for our three generations , mornings, daytime, evening. Washer and dryer especially handy. Space was perfect for light entertaining. We unexpectedly ate almost all our evening meals in house thanks to the grill, several porches, well-equipped kitchen, and fireplace. For joggers or bicyclists, superb. Highly recommended for all age groups, familial or just romantic.
