Overview

Lisieux area House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, sleeps 8; front patio and large private rear garden

House in Normandy France: A beautiful, large house situated in the protected Côte de Grâce area of Honfleur, located on the path up to the magnificent Mont Joli and the historical 17th century Notre-Dame-de-Grâce chapel. Only a 5-minute walk down to the center of Honfleur, the Place Sainte Catherine, and the old harbour. Tastefully renovated, the house maintains its 19th century charm and architectural details. On the ground floor is a spacious living room with TV, English satellite, DVD/VCR player and portable stereo and the very large newly fitted, fully equipped kitchen. There is a lovely patio in front with barbeque and patio furniture supplied. The first floor comprises two large bedrooms, one double, one twin, and two bathrooms, both en-suite, one with shower and one with a luxurious deep bath. The second floor comprises another two large bedrooms, each with two single-size beds and two bathrooms, both ensuite, one with shower and the other with a luxurious deep bath.

A wealth of activities a short walk from the house: Beautiful and historically rich, Honfleur is ideally positioned between the Seine estuary and the sea. A traditional fishing village, Honfleur has been home to many well-known painters, writers and musicians such as Eugene Boudin, Erik Satie and Charles Baudelaire. Take in its rich maritime heritage and architectural and natural beauty. Honfleur is one of only 161 towns in all of France to be awarded 'four flowers'. Many leisure activities are within a short walking distance of the house: swimming pool, tennis courts, Naturospace, beach, large public garden, museums, a long, romantic promenade starting from the harbour all the way to the beach, shopping, antiques and many excellent restaurants. The weekly Saturday market and the Biomarche on Wednesday are superb for purchasing fresh produce, cheese and meats. An important pilgrimage, the Chapel Notre Dame de Grâce is an exhilarating 10-minute walk up Mt. Joli; the path starts in front of the house with breathtaking views all the way.

An ideal base from which to explore Normandy: We think you'll find our home to be the ideal base from which to explore Normandy. It's only a 15-minute drive to the fashionable coastal resorts of Deauville and Trouville. About an hour drive through magnificent lush, rolling countryside is Falaise, birthplace of William the Conqueror where you can visit his castle. Drive along the coast toward Cherbourg stopping along the way in the charming and picturesque seaside towns of St. Vasst-la-Hogue and Barfleur, only two of the dozens of delightful seaside villages within an hour drive. One of the finest and loveliest zoos can be found in Jurques near Caen, only about an hour drive. The abbeys that William the Conquerer and his queen, Matilda, had built are also in Caen as is his castle built in 1060. A day trip to the D-Day beaches, which start at only an hour's drive away, is an educational and moving experience and definitely worthwhile.

Relax at the house: Its setting in the beautiful Côte de Grâce affords the most splendid views and is quiet and peaceful yet only a 5-minute walk into town. Tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished, fully equipped with every convenience, our cherished home will make for you a perfect home away from home.

We highly recommend!

I highly recommend this lovely house in Honfleur.

Everything worked smoothly from the very first contact to the end of our stay.

Josephine the owner was very helpful, she kept good contact to us and did more than expected giving a lot of information not only about the house but also about surroundings. There was in the house also a folder with information about nearby restaurants and sightseeing.

We were a company of 8 persons (2 families). This 4 bedroom house suited very well on our needs. It was great that there was a bathroom by each bedroom, so no queuing in the mornings :)

House was well equipped with everything needed on a holiday. House was well-kept and very clean. Bedlinens were of good quality and beds were comfortable.

We had no problems with finding a parking place (we had two cars) from the street in front of the house.

Josephine was very prompt and attentive throughout the booking process. She ensured that our needs were met and responded quickly to any questions we had during the stay. The home is very charming overlooking most of the city. It had all of the amenities I could expect as well as plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable. Josephine's attention to detail is commendable and the house suited our every need. Great stay!

Super location and house

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six really enjoyed our week's stay at this wonderful house. It truly was a home away from home. When we arrived, we were surprised and delighted to find a variety of tasty Normandy delicacies. The house was spotless and the beds very comfortable.

Josephine was always available to answer any questions both before and during our holiday.

Honfleur is a gorgeous, historical seaport . We enjoyed being able to visit and sample foods in the area's local market with all of its wonderful cheeses, breads, cookies and ciders. There is a great boardwalk, that ends at a sandy beach. It is fun just to eat at one of the many inviting restaurant patios that line this picturesque port. It is also very central to begin exploring the charming little villages of Normandy.

We drove to: Juno Beach, the Canadian Cemetery, Mont-Saint-Michel, cheese tasting in Pont-L'eveque, a picnic at Deauville beach. There were many other little places yet to be discovered. Perhaps next time!

A Wonderful Home in Honfleur

  • 5 of 5

Our visit to Normandy was very enjoyable due to our base in the historic seaside town of Honfleur. The home was exactly as described and we found it spacious, comfortable and spotless. Josephine was helpful, prompt and pleasant in our correspondence as we planned our visit to her home. We toured the DDay beaches, the Caen museum, the Bayeux tapestry and Pegasus beach. The roads were easy to travel and very scenic. Each evening it was a pleasure to return to our house and we loved trying new restaurants and walking through Honfleur. I can highly recommend this property.
