Just the two of us for the Big Mac Scenic Bike Ride this year. Looked for the opportunity to stay off the beaten path and found it. With so much to do over the weekend this secluded retreat provided the perfect spot. Located along the Bike Ride route near enough to all the spots we wanted to visit(Legs Inn, Wilderness Park, Mackinaw City, Cheboygan Brewery and farmers market, not to mention our day trip to Mackinac Island after the always outstanding sunrise ride across the Mighty Mackinac Bridge on Sunday morning), yet stood on its own in the woods. Heard the barred owls and coyotes calling, viewed the night sky from both the cabin perimeter and the Headlands Night Sky Park. Host Mike was both gracious and informative. Well appointed comfortable and clean cabin.
This is a very nice cabin! It has a great kitchen and living room for it's size! The lofted bedroom is great for couples. Mike is a very nice host and very helpful and goes into every detail about all the workings of the cabin. He's great about having firewood for campfires and lots of stuff in the cabin, i.e. Coffee and filters. Other great things about the cabin it's in a perfect location! It's 20 minutes from Mackinac City, Wilderness State Park, and the Headlands. The Cabin is very clean and very well maintained. There are too many great things to say about this property.
On a side note, this is a couples cabin. I would not want to be in it with more than two people.
From the second we arrived at the Cub Cabin, Mike was there to give us an incredible tour of the cabin and property, all of which included everything we needed for our 2 day stay and way more. Aside from porch seating outside, there was a great fire pit area, hammock, and seating where you can view all the stars at night. The interior was extremely clean and stocked with toiletries, clean linens, cooking utensils, and a grill outside as well. Linda baked us delicious peanut butter cookies which was super nice. The bed was very cozy as well. The cabin overlooked the beautiful woods and a small creek. Overall, my boyfriend and I had an amazing stay at the Cub Cabin. It was about 3 miles away from Lake Michigan, 15 minutes away from Mackinaw City, and about 15 minutes away from Dark Sky Park. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from everything to relax. We had a hard time leaving the cabin to go out and do things just because of how great it was. Thank you for being such a wonderful host Mike!
My bf and I went to Michigan for a wedding in the Tunnel of Trees. The bride found the Cub Cabin for us and we couldn't be more pleased. It's way bigger on the inside than you would think. We laid on the hammock , BBQ'ed, slept in, and just enjoyed the whole place! If you're looking for a weekend get away, THIS IS IT! Mike was such a pleasure and so accommodating to our late arrival. We definitely plan on returning.
This 'cabin' is about 150 ft from their home. He watched us the whole time. We had no sauna. Just wasnt relaxing at all. Would never recommend to anyone. There are nicer places out there.
This little cabin was everything my wife and I wanted for a quiet weekend getaway. Whitetail deer wandered right through the property and the night sky was beautiful. Mike and Linda were wonderful hosts and even greeted us with homemade cookies. The only downside was leaving when the weekend was over.
Sauna not open until Fall.Great ctivities Now Starting.
