Ca’ Navagero, was the historical domicile of the aristocratic Navagero family. From the end of the 1300’s this family provided Venice with many important politicians, ambassadors, writers and historians, one of them being Andrea Navagero. He was very important in the cultural history of Renaissance Venice. The palazzo has origins dating as far back as 1400 and is represented in a famous painting of Jacopo De Barbari from 1500.

Between the 17th and 18th centuries the palazzo underwent transformations but continues to withhold its original aristocratic charm. Still today, the palace is home to artistic and architectural master works. The façade with its arches built in the 1400’s, the balcony, the entrance hall, the wooden ceilings and the inner court with its fountain decorated with the Navagero family crest are a few examples.

The restored and renovated Palazzo welcomes its guests exuding fascination, charm, elegance, and a great feeling of history. Situated on the Riva degli Schiavoni across from the Island of San Giorgio the Palazzo offers our guests an impressive view of the Laguna, the Doges’ Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the Grand Canal (Canal Grande) the Church of St Mary of Salvation (Santa Maria della Salute), the canal of the Giudecca and the Church of the Palladio dating from the 500’s. The view also includes the Islands of S. Servolo, Armeni, and the Lido of Venice that meets with the gardens of Castello where the international exposition of the Biennale and S. Elena are located.

In our Palazzo, you truly live in the heart of Venice.

Set along Riva degli Schiavoni, opposite the Island of S. George enjoys spectacular views of the basin S. Marco, ranging from the Palazzo Ducale, the Grand Canal and the Church of Health, the Giudecca Canal and the churches of the sixteenth century Palladio, the islands of S. Servolo and the Armenians, the Lido and closing on the green lung of the city, the gardens of the Castle of the international headquarters of the Biennale and S. Helen.

Living Venice in the heart of the city.

The Palazzo is located on the Riva degli Schiavoni, along the walkway connecting St Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco) to the gardens of Sant Elena. We are truly in the heart of the city where the palaces, the churches, the museums, and the most famous Venetian sights: the Doges’ Palace (Palazzo Ducale), St Mark’s Basilica (Basilica San Marco), Church of St Zachary (San Zaccaria), the Church of Pieta where Antonio Vivaldi had his music school, the Correr Museum, the Arsenale, all these historical sights within 10 walking minutes.

Residents, giving the area its lively folkloristic atmosphere with its small boutiques, grocery shops, pharmacies, restaurants, banks and post office, still principally populate the neighborhood.

Here you can discover a Venice still rich in its secrets, lose yourself in its intriguing history unique to the world: collect unforgettable memories.

For lovers of good food, you will find many restaurants awarded for their gastronomy and enology in the area. Some of the best Venetian restaurants of Italian and international recognition mentioned in popular guidebooks are just minutes away.

Excellent central location, Great host, overall 10/10

  • 5 of 5

Amazing central location made it easy to escape the crowds. Beautifully furnished and equipped apartment. Air conditioning in every room. Easily accommodated our family of 5 adults and 4 kids with space for the kids to play inside. Very helpful accessible host Alberta who made sure that we had everything we needed. Located very close to vaporetto stop and water taxi stand. St Mark's Square only 2 mins walk away. Picturesque view along side canal (kids thrilled to see water ambulance zooming along) and glimpses of Grand Canal. There is a glass blowing demonstration in the courtyard of the property - our kids had a free demonstration when we went down early while it was quiet. Overall, a magical memorable holiday for all. Thank you Alberta. I would definitely recommend this property.

The apartment was fab. We were a group of 7 and it was perfect! Each bedroom has its own en suite. Well equipped kitchen. Great lounge and dining room which we could sit comfortably together. The younger girls in our group enjoyed having a TV! The air conditioning was very welcome . Could not fault it at all. Great apartment, location and facilities and a very helpful friendly owner .

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

Ca'Navagero was perfect for our 5 night visit to Venice for the Biennale. Centrally located with very easy access to St Marks Square -the 3 bedrooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable and we all enjoyed the luxury of our own bathrooms. The apartment was well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The living area is lovely and we collapsed there in comfort after long days walking. Alberta is an excellent host - instructions were clear and easy, recommendations from restaurants to the nearest supermarket were very helpful. We particularly appreciated her help with our varied departure arrangements. We'd all happily stay there again - safe, secure and restful in the heart of Venice. Thank you Alberta!

Historic Palazzo Good Base to Explore Venice

  • 5 of 5

Ca'Navagero 2 is strategically located in the Castello district near Piazzo San Marco and close to good restaurants and people watching along the Riva degli Schiovani, a main thoroughfare bordering the Venice Lagoon. We were a party of six adults -- two couples and two singles - and the apartment met our needs quite well -- although the room shared by two single adults was rather cramped. The kitchen was well stocked and modern, although we did no cooking while there. Several windows of the apartment overlook a canal and the others look onto an inner courtyard. Street noise was not a problem, despite hordes of tourists that arrive on massive cruise ships from time to time. Alberta, the owner, could not have been more accommodating and helpful -- recommending restaurants and calling water taxis for us to get to the train station on time. She even brought her son with her when we checked out in case we needed help with our suitcases (two flights of fairly long stairs). An added attraction was a glass blowing studio in the apartment courtyard on the ground floor next to a retail glass shop. An excellent location and a very gracious hostess make this a good choice from which to see the sights in Venice. Highly recommend nearby Osteria Oliva Nera for dinner. Known by tourist crowd but for good reason. Food and service are excellent.
