We are a family with three young children who live in Toronto, Ontario and love to vacation in New Hampshire, we have a Viszla. Jeremy is a contractor, builder and Solar Panel Instaler and Stephani is a commercial photographer specializing in Food and Interiors. We love spending quality time together and cherish the time we spend at the cottage. We love it so much we want to share it when we are not there so other people can experience the restful rejuvenation we get when we are there.
Stephani Buchman purchased this house in 2003
The property on which the cottage is built has been in our family since 1929. My Grandmother's parents built as small cottage (Wadcheeaukee East) when she and her siblings were teenagers. Her family spent summers there, then eventually my grandmother spent summers there, and my mother, sister and I would visit in the summers. Eventually, my sister and I inherited the property and because we wanted to preserve the family history, we thought that we should build another cottage on the lot (the original cottage is too small) so that we could take our families there and share our love of the White Mountains, and the New Hampshire area.
The cottage is cozy and separate from other cottages, yet it is close to all amenities.
I can not possibly say enough good things about this rental. It was truly a wonderful and magical place. The cottage was perfect. Spotless when we arrived. I loved the charm of the decor with a mix of antique, vintage and new, all blended together giving the home a special warm & cozy charm. Everything is there that you could possibly need, plus some. They even happened to have a small plastic kiddie pool much to our childs delight since it was such a huge disappointment when we couldn't bring ours. Truly, all you need to bring is clothes to wear since they have supplied everything else!
The property is truly wonderful with walking trails throughout. Beautiful views to enjoy, forest, and nature's beauty all around. A perfect way to enjoy God's creation! You can easily stay put at the cottage and enjoy the property and all it has to offer if you don't want to deal with crowds, or, you can hit all the tourist attractions since they are surprising, only a very short driving distance away. We loved hiking through the forest where the "Fairy's" live, and it just so happens, they have "Fairy" beds in the cottage! When you are at the cottage, you feel as though you are in the middle of no where but yet, you are actually very close to everything you could possibly want. It is the perfect spot for anybody, whether you are single, a couple, or a family, it's sure to please and be a great experience for all. Pets are considered and I could not possibly think of a better place to go hiking with a dog. The four legged family members will be sure to have just as wonderful of a vacation as the two legged family members will. I believe this cottage is a rarety and true gem. I would rate it higher than any 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in. It's a 10 star in my book! You can flip through page after page of cabin rentals on the site like I did, but you truly have to stop once you find this one since, you will not find better than Wadcheeaukee West! I feel very lucky to have found such a great spot and had the privilege to stay there and experience some wonderful and special times and memories that will last my lifetime. It will definitely be the first place I think of going the next time we are looking for a get away to go to. I highly, highly recommend this rental!!
This place is as advertised. It's a beautiful place on a large piece of property and a quite street in the woods. Which is ecaxty what I was looking for.
Anything you might need for cooking or cleaning something is there, along with games, movie's and book. Cooking on the grill with the fire pit going and the view was totally enjoyable. I stood 4 night and want more.
The ride to Lincoln is about 6 miles, which I enjoyed. Once there you can find good food and plenty to do.
Our stayed was very pleasant and comfortable . Everything was there as per the description . Cottage is well managed and all full with all utilities . Found all the useful information about restaurants , activities and scenic places . Picnic table , fire pit and trail behind the cottage was plus . Mirror lake is really a beauty and it's just few miles away .
Owner was really prompt and helpful during entire stay. I would like to recommend this place for sure .
We loved coming back to the cottage at the end of each day. The seating and the bedding were comfortable and there was a spacious feeling that never had us feeling crowded. Set back from the road and removed from neighboring houses, the grounds were secluded and so quiet!
When we arrived, the thermostat was set at 55 degrees, and it took several hours to reach a good temperature, so I'd suggest that perhaps it could be warmed up for arriving guests. Also, the sound from the TV wasn't very good and made worse by the sound of the stove blower. Perhaps a couple of auxiliary speakers would improve it. I would also clean out a few cabinets so that guests could have a place to store groceries out of sight. And perhaps throw away some of the condiments that are crowded into the refrigerator door.
The location is good: it takes about 15-20 minutes to get to Lincoln or Plymouth. The Hannaford in Plymouth is a bigger store than the store in Lincoln. As always, we had excellent meals at the Common Man and at the Italian Farmhouse. On our last day, we had an enormous breakfast at the Sugar Shack in Campton. I must confess I didn't like their thick dry pancakes, but the french toast was very good.
We definitely would rent again!
While attending the New Hampshire Highland Game we stayed for two days at the cottage. The owner was prompt and helpful in answering questions about the property and providing directions/instructions. We were two families with a total of eight people staying in the cottage. The property is large and the kids had fun exploring the trails down to the river and kayaking. With eight people, space was limited inside the cottage but because the weather was fine we were able to make good use of the outdoor deck and fire pit. The only drawback was that the double beds were small for adults used to queen/king size beds.
The property was beautiful! The beds were great. The view was beautiful! We went to the lost river, the water park. Everyone around was so nice. The only thing I would say is the A/C and the Wi fi kept going on and off. Other than that perfect place. We will be returning next year
