Guestbook comments from the manager

A fabulous place for families! We spent over a week at this gem of a cottage. It was a perfect place for our families (4 adults and 5 kids) to stay and enjoy all the amenities of So. Cal. A mere 10 minutes from Lego Land, 40 min from San Diego and an hour from Disney, we were able to visit all the attractions. Some of our best memories, however, were the days we stayed at the house and enjoyed the amazing beach and adorable home. The grassy area was a total bonus. It was a great place for kids to play when they were tired of the beach and also helped keep the sand out of the house. All in all, we loved our stay and would recommend it to anybody looking for a place truly right on the beach. The cottage is sweet and simple Just a charming house with lots to offer. We enjoyed Local Tap House, Bagbies and picked up pizza one night from Privateer. We will definitely be back!

.You can walk to the farmers market on Thursday mornings and get fresh local produce and food from vendors, or walk to one of the longest piers in Southern California. There are two restaurants to choose from right at the pier, and Ruby's at the end of the pier. On Thursday evenings the street fair is set up again with live music, vendors with hundreds of options for gifts and every type of food you can imagine. There is now a small 'Stone Brewery' to stop in at and get a wonderful craft beer while sitting around an out door firepit. The famous 'Top Gun' house is located just a few hundred yards down the Strand for a nostalgic photo opportunity. Want to see a movie? There is a theatre right up the street. There is also many restaurants, including Hello Betty and 333

Amazing Beach Vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from an absolutely amazing week at this house! We went with 13 people (8 adults, 5 kids) and felt like we had ample space. Although admittedly, we spent the majority of time outside. If you have the chance to stay here, you'll understand why!

We all commented that although we wouldn't have looked for it, having the grass area in the back was fantastic. The kids could run and play and it kept the house a lot cleaner. We bbq'd every night and ate our meals on the picnic tables in the sand. The fire pit was amazing at night and of course, this house is RIGHT ON THE BEACH! Just a few steps out the back door and we were on an awesome beach. It never felt crowded, water was great, and we could watch dolphins ride the waves...unbeatable!

To top it off, Kim the owner was fantastic. It was so nice to have her two doors down and although she was there when we needed her, it never felt like she was "checking in on us". Overall she was a pleasure to work with.

The memories we created with friends and family here will be something we all remember for years and years to come. I recommend this experience 100%.

My family loved it!

  • 5 of 5

I couldn't be more pleased with this beach cottage! It was much larger than I had anticipated! One week was not long enough; we all wanted to stay another week! Easy access to the beach. A green lawn for my grandchildren to play. Washer and dryer, oven, microwave, coffee maker all included. The bedding was so clean and smelled awesome! We drank coffee by the ocean every morning and sat there again in the evening as we watched the sunset. The only downfall was that we did not meet the owners of the property; I was waiting for our cookies that everyone else bragged about ha ha!

AMAZING VIEW....

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Oceanside was perfect, I have been a lot of places Aruba, St Maarten, Cancun ect.. and this was one of the most beautiful views I have seen. Almost every day we saw Dolphins. The location was perfect we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful view from the beach house and the yard... It was awesome!! it was so beautiful we didn't go out much we didn't want to miss out on seeing the sunset :). The beach house was very comfortable it had everything we needed. I would highly recommend staying here.. The owner was always helpful and always got right back to us if we had any questions....The last day my son in law got stung by a stingray which I understand is very rare....

Extremely Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

Our stay at this property was very disappointing. After spending quite a bit of money to rent this place for week, we opened the door to a house that was in need of some cleaning to say the least. Upon entering, you could see that the furniture was dirty and stained to the point that we covered them with towels before sitting on them. While emptying the ice chest, water spilled onto the floor and when it was wiped up the towel was black. The house had not been cleaned properly and since each guest pays a cleaning fee there is no excuse for a dirty house. There was mold on the shower curtain in the upstairs bathroom. The kitchen utensils were rusted and luckily we brought a can opener with us because the one there wouldn't work. If you are going to rent a house for thousands of dollars a week, I think you could spend a hundred dollars and buy new kitchen items when they rust over. We understand that this house is at the beach and things rust, but that is no excuse for not spending the time to keep up your property with a little care. The locks on the doors didn't work so there were baskets filled with rocks which doesn't actually keep the doors shut. It would be nice to have privacy when in the bathroom. Also, the upstairs toilet area is next to the front window which only had a thin curtain on it. At night, I would have to use the restroom in the dark so that people couldn't see in. A shade would be nice! You couldn't broil with the oven. There were not enough bath towels. When you allow that many guests you should provide the appropriate number of towels. The trash cans were half full when we arrived. By the fourth day, we ran out of room and my husband carried trash bags home with him to throw away. Also, the dryer vents into the house so it blows dust back into the room which caused one guest to have severe allergies.

We stayed there with young kids and were disappointed to see that at the end of the property you have to climb down rocks to reach the beach. This was not conducive to young kids who wanted to play in the water and stood at the edge of a drop off. Also some of the chairs were broken and where was the red umbrella that it shows in the picture?

I think the worst part was the neighbors Great Danes, yes that is plural. Every time you stepped outside you could smell the pungent odor of dog urine and feces. Needless to say it made enjoying the ocean unbearable. This was certainly not the vacation that we had planned on having.

Owner's Response: Well we took a hard look at your comments and decided the best option was to make sure no one is ever disappointed again. We have repainted, replace all the furniture, lamps and accessories, buy new towels, bedding, appliances kitchen gadgets, window treatments and expand our cleaning crew. We are pleased to say the house was redone head to toe! And we have had a wonderful response from guests since the "refreshing" was completed in Jan 2017. In addition,we went and spoke with the neighbors and got permission for our cleaning crew to take over the proper cleaning and disinfection of their yard. ( They are an elderly couple who needed help). To this day our crew takes care of their yard. Thankfully, the dogs travel most of the year to dog shows and are hardly ever there any more. They have not been there in months. They have their main home in Los Angeles.
