About Jean Moreland
I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin and have lived in Minnesota, California and moved to New York City in 2003, when I married my husband. We have lived in Harlem for 15 years now, have 2 children, and love the fact that we can be close to all the wonderful things New York has to offer, yet have a wonderful space to retreat back to on a quiet block in a culture-rich area.
Jean Moreland purchased this Apartment in 2001
Why Jean Moreland chose East Harlem
My husband bought this brownstone in 2001, when it was a burned out shell with a tree growing up through the middle. He had always wanted to own a brownstone in Harlem. Many others were renovating at the same time, and we have forged a community of old and new. We love have the space and quiet (and view of the sky!)in Harlem while having the convenience of the nearby subways to easily get anywhere in Manhattan.
What makes this Apartment unique
This is a retreat away from the hustle of the tourist sites, where you will have two bedrooms plus a sofa-bed in the living room. You'll have a full kitchen and laundry and space to relax in the living and dining areas. Yet you are still convenient to subway and bus lines that can get you to the sites quickly to enjoy all NYC has to offer!

Excellent location, easy to travel everywhere! Jean was very helpfull and made our stay easy with a family of 5.
The property worked great for us! Took my granddaughter to NY City as a graduation present. Only drawback was the garden level apartment was below another living quarters. The wood floors were really loud when walked across. Hard to sleep.
Very nice place to stay! Close to subway and downtown Harlem!
We would highly recommend this very nice brownstone!
Jean was very accommodating, allowing us to drop off luggage and use restroom!
Could not have been better!
My mother and I spend Mother's Day weekend and into the week in Jean's place. The set up was perfect and since my motehr has mobility issues the limited number of steps was key. Everthing we needed was in the unit and it was super comfortable. It was a great location for us because we wanted to visit The Met, The Cloisters and see a couple of shows. Jean gave great recommendations for restuarants and otehr suggestions.
Clean ,quite place .Amazing hostess
Very positive. We did not spend too much time at home but being there was relaxing. Jean extends herself to make her guests feel welcome.
Very well kept unit. Great location.
Great location! Very well kept unit. Jean was a great host. I would stay there again.
Located in the ground floor of a brownstone on a quiet block in historic Harlem, which is at the north end of Manhattan. The Apollo Theater, The Studio Museum and Jazz Museum of Harlem, Sylvia's famous soul food, wonderful restaurants and coffee shops all within walking distance. The lively 125th Street shopping district is a 5 minute walk---where you can get everything from Mac Cosmetics and Hip-Hop clothes, to African drums and shea lotions. Restaurants such as Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster, Chez Lucienne, and the Corner Social have created a lively culinary corner within a few blocks. Three grocery stores, Whole Foods, Pioneer and Wild Olive all nearby. It's less than a 10 minute walk to the 4/5/6 subway lines or the 2/3 subway lines which take you all the way up and down the East and West sides of Manhattan. Both Grand Central and Times Square are about a 20 minute subway ride away. The M1 bus is one block away and travels down 5th Avenue along Central Park and past the Met, Guggenheim and other museums.
Other Activities: It's New York City--you can do anything and everything!
