Tired, stressed, need to get away and recharge the batteries? You've come to the right place. There's something magical in the air, you can't help but relax when you are here.
Welcome to your own space and tranquility. The apartment is set in the middle of over 2 acres (approx 1 hectare) of its own grounds. You are surrounded by nature - flowers, trees, vineyard, and woodland, however you are not remote - just 200m down the hill into the centre of the small town of Štrigova where you can find shops, bars, restaurants, ATM, tourist office, chemist, post office.
The outdoor BBQ area is the ideal place to enjoy a glass of chilled local wine on a summer evening. When did you last pick a ripe peach from a tree outside your door? Or eat home grown vegetables? At Holiday Home Osme, if it's ripe in the garden you are welcome to help yourself. For the more adventurous why not join us in September when we harvest the grapes and make wine? Or perhaps you'd like to help to distill a little fruit brandy? Complimentary wine is available throughout your stay.
Children or all ages are very welcome and there is a selection of toys and books available for them to enjoy. There is also a DVD player with a selection of DVDs (we can tailor the selection to your taste) and a Wii console and games.
Pets are welcome too and there is a large fenced enclosure complete with kennel where dogs can safely be left.
If you don't want to get away from the real world completely you can make use of the free Wifi to keep in touch with home.
We are Sally and Martin Daniels. We moved to Croatia from the UK with our two children and our dog Jasper in 2010 and are now enjoying the 'good life', growing our own veggies, collecting eggs from our free range chickens, raising our own meat and producing our own wine. We live locally and are happy to provide advice and information to help you get the most out of your visit to Croatia.
Sally Daniels purchased this house in 2012
Having settled into our new life in Croatia we now want to share the experience! When we saw this property we knew it would be a perfect holiday home. Set in its own grounds, but not remote, with fabulous views.
We were warmly welcomed by the owner who presented her beautiful cottage set amongst vineyards above a classic Croatian Village. The house has everything a traveller or holiday maker needs to relax and enjoy such an outstanding location. The cottage is set on a hill overlooking the quiet village. My wife and I enjoyed the wine provided from the vineyard in front of the pot belly stove and relaxed. We walked down to the town and had a beautiful meal for a very competitive price.
We thoroughly recommend this house to any traveller who wants a unique and special place to relax.
Walking the gently rolling hills of Upper Međimurje is a perfect way to experience the beauty of this area. Even better when combined with stops to enjoy the award winning local wines and the delicious local food.
For cyclists there are 400km of signposted routes within Međimurje County, supported by the 'Cyclist Welcome' Network.
Year round swimming is possible at the indoor pool in Čakovec and the indoor and summer pools at the Sveti Martin Thermal Spa.
If you are feeling more adventurous why not try canoeing or rafting on the Drava or Mura rivers?
Fishing is a popular local pastime, Međimurje hosted the 2014 Coarse Angling World Championship.

If you plan to visit in the spring then join us for 'Urbanovo'. A festival of fine wines, good food and local traditions.
A visit to the beautiful Baroque town of Varaždin is a must. The New York Times noted that 'Croatia’s architectural and musical gem lies inland' when it included Varaždin in its list of 52 places to go in 2014. Its castle, cobbled streets and cafe culture are a delight at any time of year. Visit during December for the Advent celebrations, sample the Baroque nights in October, or experience Varaždin at its most vibrant during the ten day 'Špancirfest' at the end of August.
Čakovec 'Stari Grad', the seat of the once powerful Žrinski family, is the largest castle in Međimurje and houses the county museum. If you are visiting at the beginning of August make sure the 'Porcijunkulovo' festival is on your to do list.
The annual Renaissance Festival in Koprivnica takes you back in time for a great day out.
Trakošćan Castle is the most spectacular in the region. Set on a hill top, above a lake and among acres of woodland, it is straight out of a fairytale.
Sveti Martin na Muri is the most northerly point of Croatia. Here you can enjoy a walk (or a coffee) by the fast flowing Mura river while visiting the 'Mill on the Mura' and learning a little about local rural traditions. A tradition with a more modern face is the annual 'Krampuslauf' in December - not for those with a weak disposition.
Throughout the year saints' days and the wine producing calendar provide many excuses for village festivals and celebrations in the area. See Visit Međimurje or contact us for more details.
Need a break from all that activity and culture? Then kick back and relax with a glass of wine or a delicious meal at one of the many local bars, restaurants or vineyards.
Why not visit the Hazić wine house and sample their award winning white wines?
Maybe treat yourself at the newly renovated wellness centre at Terme Sveti Martin?
Or just fire up the BBQ, pour the wine and enjoy the view......
