About Kathy Johnson

We purchased this property when our daughter was a baby and it became our weekend/vacation escape. We have had so many wonderful memories through the years. She is all grown up now, and we recently retired, so we decided to share our special place with other families.

What makes this cottage unique

This property offers incredible views, excellent swimming as well as privacy.

We really enjoyed our week at this lovely cottage. Very clean and comfortable and I can't say enough about the wonderful view of the lake. The deck was our favorite spot. Loved the sunrises, the Bald Eagle we saw close up as it flew by, the rainbows, the sound of the waves, the bright stars and the fresh air.

Thanks for the nice basket of goodies that was waiting on our arrival. The towels are clean and fluffy, the beds were very comfortable with nice linens. Also, thanks for the excellent selection of travel brochures and menus provided.

I recommend this cottage without hesitation and hope to go back again!

Stress-free vacationing!

  • 5 of 5

You always worry when you book a house sight-unseen, but we read the reviews before ours and trusted in them. You can trust in this one as well....this was a very peaceful vacation home. No close neighbors, off the highway far enough to not hear the traffic and truly restful. Cool breezes kept the bugs at bay and the open concept of the home gave us hours of family bonding and conversation.

We have rented dozens of homes through this site and this has been the cleanest by far. We wanted for nothing and could not be happier with our week. The owners were friendly and prompt and the listing was accurate and fair.

Not only would I recommend this home to friends, we already have. By sending them pictures of the Bald Eagles nesting nearby and sharing stories with them about our canoe adventures- I think they are hooked. I thought we would be disappointed by no wifi service- but truthfully we did not miss it. We reconnected with our children and spent as much time on the beach and lake as possible. Would consider returning if our travels take us to the U.P. again.

Thanks Johnson family for sharing your home with us.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your experience. We are so glad you had a wonderful vacation! We try very hard to offer a clean and comfortable cottage, reviews such as yours make it very rewarding! We too rent vacation homes and worry about what we will find upon arrival, so we understand the apprehension of our guests. Again thank you, we hope to see you again should you travel this way.

I could have stayed forever!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the most relaxing vacation! The views on the lake are amazing! While there is one neighbor somewhat close; the way the homes are placed it is still very private. The beach is large and the kids enjoyed looking for rocks, playing with the beach toys & evening campfires. There is also a large grassy yard to play in as well. We went on lots of hikes and saw many spectacular views...Some we had to drive a bit for, but all were worth it! We went to Munising and went on a speed boat ride around Pictured Rocks by Riptide Rides Inc. This was our favorite activity combining a thrill ride with nature's beauty! We also did the Adventure Copper Mine tour which was a lot of fun! The owners of the cottage provide everything you need and some extras! It was clean and well maintained. The owners were kind. We will likely be back!!

Location, Location, Location.

This is a wonderful place to get away from it all. The house is super clean, well equipped and you cannot improve on the location. While there we enjoyed, walking the beach, taking photos of the spectacular view, canoeing to the red cliffs, fishing - with great success, bonfires with s'mores, great meals including the very best ice cream in the world and just being with our precious family and creating memories to last a life time. Anyone wanting to really get a taste for the charms of Northern Michigan should give this vacation rental a try. No complaints just happy memories!

There are many hiking and nature trails as well as several waterfalls, beautiful scenic sites and state parks to visit. There are many small towns nearby to visit offering a variety of shops and sites to explore. Copper harbor is just a short drive away. Houghton offers all your shopping and dining needs. The Ojibway Casino is just a few miles away if you want to try your luck! The summer months are great, but two of our favorite months in the U.P are September and October. The fall colors are spectacular! Warm sunny days and comfortable nights.

Golf: L'Anse is just 7 miles from the cottage. They have a very nice public golf course. Please see my vistors guide or visit our homepage for more fun things to do in the Keweenaw!
