Set on a secluded lot, surrounded trees on three sides, guests will relax and decompress in the quiet solitude of the full width front porch, in the hot tub, or on the back deck. Get ready to spend a relaxing weekend or longer on a vacation you will always remember.
Our home is located just a minute's drive from the Massanutten water park, a short drive to the ski slopes and only 12 minutes from Harrisonburg and the JMU campus. Enjoy the fresh air, mountain views or just sit awhile and relax in a rocking chair on the wide front porch.
Our home sits on a peaceful, stonescaped lot surrounded on three sides by trees, and peaceful surroundings. Featuring an all-natural wood interior, our lodge style home features a large stone fireplace and lots of windows which lets in views of foliage and mountains from every room.
Each of our three bedrooms feature premium decor and furnishings. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, private bath and a walk in closet. The second and third bedroom each have a queen bed. The house has bed space to sleep six guests with additional sleeping space available. The fully equipped kitchen leads out onto the large back deck with a hot tub and gas grill.
The house is equipped with washer & dryer, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, range. Comcast cable TV and high speed wifi internet included. Two car garage connects directly into the house on the lower level.
Linens are included for all beds along with fresh towels, hand towels and washcloths.
Hot Tub: Hot tub rules will be provided upon request.
A little late in getting this review in. The cabin itself was great as mentioned in earlier reviews (clean, well decorated, nice furniture, good supply of linens). We (55+ couple) were told there was a cable problem ahead of time, and someone was scheduled to come out the day of our arrival. It must of been fixed that day because cable/wifi were working when we arrived at about 6PM. Hot Tub/Spa was a bit erratic. We used it a couple of times (stayed at a nice 100 degrees), but the thing was cycling (clean/heat cycle) about every 5 to 15 minutes for a minute or so (instead of every hour or two?) when not in use. and some of the jets were a bit weak. I reported this to the property manager Monday morning when "checked out".
Correspondence (I initiated the rental only a week before our stay) and payment, went went smoothly. Deposit was refunded in a reasonable amount of time (a week or two).
The house is close to resort drive (trees block view, but not much in the way of sound), so if you are planning to spend a lot of time on the back deck (to use what appeared to be a nice grill, spa (hopefully it has been serviced), chairs/table) the road noise can be pretty bad if you are looking for quiet depending on the time of day. It's quieter on the front porch, and not noticeable at all inside.
We rented Bear Lodge in early November and unfortunately didn't have the best experience with the management side of the rental. A minor point we were at first willing to overlook, was a slight difference in the cleaning charge from what was stated in the contract and what we were billed. We're now asking for this small amount difference back because of everything else. The cable & TV and hot tub didn't work. We were okay with no cable and TV at first, but then the hot tub didn't work - so it all just kind of added up. We were told we'd get some of our charge refunded due to the cable/tv/hot tub issues, yet we are still waiting for our refundable deposit. Calls to the manager have gone unanswered, though he has finally responded to our texts. Just all seems a little unprofessional.
We had a mini Memorial Day weekend get away and this cabin was fantastic !!! It was very clean and cozy. The pictures do not do it justice!! We will rent this cabin again!
The house is awesome. Very nice, clean, and welcoming. It is obvious the owner cares about this house. The owner is great to work with and quick to respond to questions. Only 5 minutes from the slopes. You couldn't ask for a better location. We would definitely recommend this house and look forward to going back soon.
Our family of 5 fit perfectly in this VRBO. We have rented several homes in Massanutten and found this to be one of the cleanest and most nicely decorated. This is clearly a home for the owners, not just a rental property. We found it clean and in good repair. Thanks for a nice stay!
We had a group of 5 for a week in April and it was perfect for what we were doing. I will definately consider renting Bear Lodge again. The owner was very helpful and was easy to deal with.
