Stay in a renovated home with newer fixtures, appliances, furnishings and accessories. Brand new central a/c will be installed for the 2016 summer season. The entire living space was gutted in 2008-2009. The kitchen is large with lots of windows and every utensil, pot or pan you could wish for. I even left a shucking knife in the drawer for oyster enthusiasts. The downstairs bonus room has been supplied with toys, puzzles and stuffed animals for little ones. More to amuse and less for you to bring. Beach chairs, umbrellas and beach towels are left for your convenience. A wall mounted HD flat screen TV with extended cable and DVD in the living room, is a great addition for rainy days and evenings. Wireless Internet access is provided and there is also a stereo system for CD's and cassette tapes. Remember those ? Dine al fresco on the adjoining deck to the dining area, then walk 1/10th of a mile to the bay beach, also part of the shelling beach, where you can dig for clams and gather oysters to bring back to grill, then return for stunning sunsets. Several magnificent ocean beaches are just a few miles drive and the quaint village even less. Bike to fabulous PB Boulangerie for fresh baked croissants and breads or take in a play at the WHAT Theater at the end of the road There's a drive-in theater, that has a flea market weekly, as well as movies. Audubon wildlife Center is a great visit for wildlife, education and walking trails. For more excitement, drive 18 minutes to P-Town for great shopping, dining, whale watching and nightlife. This is a great family, girl's away vacation or couples getaway, nestled in a quiet setting & prime location. New living room furniture and a new Crate & Barrel dark green metal patio set for 6 replaced the original in 2015..
I am a writer, sculptor, business owner and help rescue stranded marine life in Wellfleet, mostly dolphins in the cold winter. Wellfleet is a special area andI I have been coming here since I was a teenager.
Sandie purchased this house in 2007
I love the location and proximity to the beach. It is also a dead end street and not a cut through, so people coming down the road, either live here, are visting someone or coming to collect oysters and dig for clams. This is a close neighborhood, where people know each other. They often stop and talk and families have been coming here for years.I loved the one level living with add on potential on the first floor. It's also a year round home.
Close to the beach and village. One level living. Total renovation. A few minute walk to the bay beach for shelling and great sunsets. It's set back from the road with 2 beautiful trees in front. Downstairs is a walk out, with an additional bonus room and bathroom. The land is large enough to enjoy, but small enough to maintain and have a flower garden I can manage.
The house was just beautifully renovated with a fantastic deck and only a short walk down to a beach side beach. It was the perfect location for our family (2 year old) because we could get to the beach and then go back to the house for lunch/nap and then back to the beach. The owner does a nice job in making you feel very comfortable in the house.
My parents and family have stayed in Sandy's lovely Wellfleet house for 2 years in row now and have been quite pleased with out visits both times. We had 5 people total (4 adults, 1 child) very comfortably and the place could have fit more people if necessary. Sandy has thought of everything and the house is well provisioned with all the essentials, and even some emergency items in case you forgot to pack (e.g. extra towels, sheets, bug spray, beach chairs, etc...). We are overdue to review the place and my only reservation is that our positive review may make it harder for us to book again!
Our family was quite happy with both of our visits. The place is immaculately clean and in 2016 she added central air so it is quiet (no more window A/Cs) and cool. The kitchen it quite modern and has a lovely private deck for outside eating and cooking. Literature on the local markets, beaches, stores, and restaurants is provided as well.
The walk to the bayside beach is only a few hundred yards and it is only minute to drive across to the kettle ponds or national seashore. There are nice beach and wetland hikes from the property as well. There is a nice years that we did not use often and Sandy has kept it well cleared and treated for ticks and mosquitos. We never had a single tick or mosquito on either trip.
Of course she has cable, a stereo, and high-speed internet so when it rains you have some indoor activities to do as well. There were really only minor inconveniences. On rainy days some ants creep in, but there are natural traps provided and this was not an issue. The place has 2 baths, but the second one is not quite as nice. For us, the 10am check-out time has been a challenge to hit exactly when we were cleaning up to leave. But Sandy is always available by phone and e-mail and if anything breaks or is an issue, she is quick to respond.
The house is nicely redone with new fixtures and very clean. Was the perfect size for a small family and also very close to the bay beaches. We enjoyed the house, the neighbors, and the rest of the surroundings. There were five of us and there was plenty of room. I have a five year old and sixteen month old, and they enjoyed the house as well, including the children's room, which is complete with children's books you can use and stuffed animals. Cable tv came in very handy at night and on the one rainy day we had. Sandy was polite, helpful, and we are looking forward to renting with her again.
My husband, son, and I vacationed here in June and had a wonderful time. The house was immaculate, had a great lay-out and all the amenities we were looking for. The owner paid close attention to detail, as all the bedrooms were painted in bright, fun Caribbean colors and each furnished with light wood furnishings, fixtures and accessories. The location was close to everything, especially the beach. We are ready to book again next year.
"My family stayed here over the summer.
We have been vacationing in the outer Cape for years and the house we usually booked was sold. We loved the house and area and how close it was to the beach. It also was convenient to the village, restaurants and shops. There are lots of windows, including a large bay in the living room, which provides a great cross breeze. There are lots of fans in every room. The kitchen is one of the nicest I've been in for a vacation rental, with granite and stainless appliances. The owner left beach chairs and beach towels, which was a big convenience, as we didn't have to bother bringing these extra items from home. I would highly recommend this property."
We stayed in this house and in the end it was not a good experience. The house was clean enough though small and quite hot in August, but plenty of fans. The biggest issue we had was actually trying to get our security deposit back. She was supposed to send it back within 2 weeks, however we accidentally broke a glass ceiling light fixture that we of course we told her right away.
The owner claimed it was a very expensive fixture (when in reality it was a cheap glass cover) and she had to go to some special lighting store to buy a replacement. She then waited over 6 weeks to return the deposit and deducted $187 for the globe cover!!! Even worse, after 4 more weeks of renters were in the house she claimed we owed an additional $35 cleaning fee...outrageous.
The house is not worth the price, and in the end and worthing *nothing* close to the aggravation of dealing with the owner! The cape is full of places to rent- after these issues we will not be coming back to the house (ever).
Wellfleet is on the outer Cape where 70 % or more is devoted to national seashore, keeping it beautiful and still underdeveloped. This has always been a town for artists, families and sophisticated visitors from around the world. There are many wonderful restaurants, magnificent bay and ocean beaches, flea markets, shopping, art galleries and a new actor's theater at the end of the road from the house. A jog or bike ride will also get you to a fabulous French bistro and bakery for freshly baked croissants, breads and pastries. Sit outside at one of the tables with a cappuccino and morning paper. The calories are well worth every one.
For more adventure. take the 15-20 minute drive to P-Town for whale watching, movies, great shopping, restaurants and a variety of shows. On the way, you can stop at the Truro Winery and Atlantic Spice house.
Other Activities: bike riding, hiking, plays, flea markets, shows, piano bars, great restaurants, village shopping and lots of yoga studios and massage therapists
