Absolute 5-star holiday home
I can summarize it in one word : Superb. We had such a wonderful stay at the property. We were not so lucky with the weather during our visit in Liscannor (stormy and rainy) but the house is so comfortable that we could stay warm inside and enjoy looking at the monstrous weather outside. Brendan, the property manager, is very accommodating and responsive to all our needs. 10/10
Thanks so much for your review, glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you back in the future. Brendan
Incredible home with unforgettable views of Liscannor Bay and the West of Ireland
Glorious house, unforgettable views, amazing people and wonderful memories.
Top Notch Vacation Home
The first week of February my husband and our two teenage children had the privilege of vacationing at this beautiful glass house by the ocean. Brendan was so very helpful and we couldn't have asked for a better host. Thank you Brendan!! The floorplan for this home is the most well thought out I've ever seen. From every room on the bottom floor your view of the water is never obscured. Upstairs the view of the water is the first thing you see in the morning when you open your eyes. What a surreal and relaxing experience it is to see God's glorious masterpiece right in front of you from 90% of all the rooms in this home. Ireland is amazingly beautiful and on the days we just wanted to relax and not go anywhere we never felt slighted by missing these gorgeous scenes outside because they surrounded us even in the house. The kitchen is a lovely scandinavian design, extremely equipped with lots of extras, and everywhere you go in this home there is evidence of quality touch notch items at your disposal. The owners of this home clearly put much thought into comfort for their guests and right down to every piece of furniture communicated good taste and top level quality. I conclude like many others who left reviews that the master bedroom bed is heavenly and the most comfortable I have ever experienced. My own bed at home has always been my favorite and not because of familiarity but rather super comfort. When we would travel it was always a bit of difficult adjustment for me to get a good night sleep elsewhere, as no bed ever compared to my own's comfort. When I arrived back to the states I immediately set to trying to find this exact mattress for ourselves! Yes....it is that good:)
The town of Liscannore is quaint and of course the Cliffs of Moher are our personal favorite view of the landscape. We loved the simplistic quality of the grocery stores, which are very different from the american ones. Learning all the differences there was new and exciting. I love the town and we spent many days just joy riding and lucked into some of the best picture taking situations. Vaughans restaurant was a big disappointment for my husband, as he is quite a foodie. He found it to be extremely overpriced and the quality was not what we expected. My husband much more enjoyed visiting the local grocery store and getting fresh seafood (his favorite) and bringing it back to the house to cook. The fish was delicious and the price was very reasonable! Can't wait to come back!!!
Luxury and comfort on a different level
We stayed at this wonderful house for nine nights in late September/early October. There were just two of us but it would easily accommodate six adults or a family. The location of the house is stunning, right on the sea, looking over toward Lahinch beach and the rugged coastline. Brendan welcomed us warmly and gave us a tour of the house. Everything you could possibly need is provided and more besides. We had to drag ourselves away from the house to visit the many attractions of this beautiful county, such as the cliffs of Moher less than 4 miles away, the magical Burren, Lisdoonvarna and Doolin to name a few. Liscannor is really well situated to visit anywhere in Clare and we even got the bus one day so we could both enjoy the sights. We cooked a few times so as not to miss the early evening view and enjoy the waves crashing against the rocks when the tide came in. The picture windows from the living rooms and the master bedroom allow you to make the most of the scenery. There is no compromise on comfort and you will be guaranteed a great nights sleep in high quality beds. The gorgeous bed in the master bedroom is 6 feet wide and the mattress was so comfortable we are now on the lookout for a similar one. So often holiday homes are furnished sparsely and with little thought for the holdiaymaker. My husband is 6'5" so he was delighted with this as he was with the huge TVs in all three sitting rooms, yes three! When I managed to convince him we should leave the house of an evening we enjoyed a meal in Vaughans seafood restaurant, a few minutes walk away. I'd told him they did a wonderful seafood platter but he was devastated to discover it was only on the summer menu which had ended as it was 1st October?? While we both enjoyed our meal we felt it was a bit overpriced and have had better for less in many other restaurants in Ireland. Although they have has a lot of awards for their food, the latest seem to be a few years ago. Maybe best to get a taxi or drive to Lahinch or farther afield if you are a real foodie. We adjourned to Egan's pub after our meal and had a great night. The proprietor was enjoying a night off and was most welcoming and the band, Off the
Walnuts, we're brilliant and really interacted with the crowd. We also enjoyed very nice fish and chips in McHugh's pub one night. The barman is friendly and welcoming and so are the patrons. We have rented many houses on the west coast of Ireland but nothing has compared to Holland Drive.
We had a great week at this fantastic house. This beautiful home in County Clare was comfortable for all of us. The decor and amenities are top-notch. The views of the atlantic and Clare hills are fantastic. Our little ones especially enjoyed the freedom in the contained yard. We were able to relax and enjoy catching up with relatives. Liscannor is a great little village. Egan's pub was a favorite as was Vaughans restaurant. I would highly recommend for groups looking to get away, relax and enjoy catching up.
