Minimum Stay 7 nights

Overview

About the property

Restored two bedroom cottage private positition, well equipped, one bathroom.

The restored two storey cottage is situated in a very private position, surrounded by woodland and with wonderful views particularly of Celle di Puccini, the village where Puccini was raised. 5 Minutes from shops and restaurants, less than half an hour from Lucca.

Originally constructed in 1738 the cottage retains the atmosphere of a typical Tuscan farmhouse. Equipped with many modern appliances and features to ensure it is comfortable in both winter and summer alike. On the ground floor is a spacious open plan kitchen/dining room. Gas central heating has recently been put in. The living room is centered around a working fireplace and includes a sofa bed, TV, DVD and satellite.

The first floor contains two good sized bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with bunk beds, both with stunning views. There is a landing/sitting area.

The cottage sits in an area rich in historic and cultural interest, approximately 15 kms north of the ancient walled city of Lucca.

Lucca is a charming and beautiful city, with its priceless art treasures, narrow cobbled streets flanked by imposing palazzos, secluded squares, gardens and Romanesque churches. Whilst retaining all the elements of its age and history one finds sophisticated shops and restaurants. On the third weekend of every month there is a fantastic antiques fair which lasts for 2 days.

Throughout the summer months there are various classical and contemporary music festivals. On top of the medieval walls which enclose Lucca are wide and shady tree lined avenues. Here the locals and tourists alike, stroll, cycle and walk their dogs. There are grassy ramparts ideal for relaxing after sight seeing or you can hire bikes and ride around the 4km of wall. A great way to see the city from up high

Guestbook comments from the owner

This was our first visit to Italy and it was wonderful and amazing and everything in between! We have always wanted to visit Tuscany and it did not disappoint in its beauty, culture and cuisine. The cottage was a home from home in a wonderful secluded location with breath taking views and plenty of Italian charm. The pizza oven was a great hit with the family as was the alfresco dining in April! The owner, Michele could not have been more helpful on the run up to the holiday and Anna and Luciano who look after the cottage in Italy were lovely. The location was ideal for visiting Lucca, Florence, Pisa and the coast and we even enjoyed an evening of opera! A truly memorable experience all round. Thanks Michele and Peter for sharing your little piece of Italy with us.

Lovely Home from Home Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The house is lovely and everything to could possibly need is available in the cottage. Short drive to local shops where you can buy local produce. All in all a great holiday. The historic city of Lucca is a 20 minute drive where you can enjoy a walk along the city wall.

Charming cottage set in woods in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We found this typical Tuscan cottage in a stunning setting in the woods in the mountains, it is secluded but with civilisation less than 2 miles away down a fairly narrow windy road.

We found everything we needed in the cottage, it has been tastefully furnished and was spotlessly clean. We found the lady who had the key delightful, and we're confident that if we had had a problem she would have helped us. The owner answered all our queries before we arrived and we found the cottage exactly as it was described.

We would recommend the property to a friend if they wanted to relax in a quiet tranquil setting enjoying the wildlife and walking in the woods, also as a base for exploring the area.

There is a good range of local shops 4 miles away and a little further away an excellent supermarket Esselunga, the fresh fruit and vegetables and the cooked chicken were really good.

We found La Terrasse restaurant at the roundabout, four miles from the cottage suited us very well with simple traditional Italian food and reasonable wine, so went there most evenings.

Thank you for a lovely Tuscan experience.
