Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

This large 2-story home is on a beautiful and tranquil tidal creek located in a quiet and serene neighborhood near Darien on the Georgia coast. It is convenient to I-95, Savannah, Brunswick, St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Jekyll Island, and Jacksonville, FL and is surrounded by majestic oaks draped with Spanish moss. The house has large windows and doors allowing beautiful views of the river and marshes. There is a screened porch and large deck overlooking the river from the main level and a large deck and lanai overlooking the river downstairs.

The Kitchen has Jenn-Air and Bosch appliances and overlooks the dining area and a large family room with fireplace. The Master Suite, which is almost as large as the kitchen, dining, and family area, has a king Select Comfort (sleep number) bed, sitting area, fireplace, mini-office, and spacious bathroom with large soaking tub and private shower and toilet. The other bedrooms are large with private vanities and beautiful views of the outdoors. Open the casement windows to enjoy the coastal breezes or take advantage of ceiling fans in every room.

There are 2 single person kayaks, 1 double kayak, and a canoe that can be enjoyed during your stay. There are also paddles for the canoe and kayaks, life jackets, and adult and kids bicycles in the 2-car garage. The biking is relaxed and beautiful while winding through the live oaks and wildlife that cover the peninsula. There is also great bird-watching with a nature trail that allows you access to rare and exotic wildlife.

There is a marina with a lift and boat ramp only minutes away where you can put your boat in the water and purchase bait. Bring your boat, tie it to the dock, and enjoy it for fishing, water skiing, tubing, and access to the nearby islands. But please note, no personal water craft (PWCs) are allowed and idle speed (no wake) is required near docks and boats.

If your goal is to find quiet and spacious relaxation, you'll find that here. And if you're looking for activities that connect you with the outdoors and renew your spirit, it's here and within your reach. Either way, the tranquility and variety of Coastal Georgia is only a click and a phone call away.

About Cindy Irwin

We love the relaxing atmosphere of our home and the appeal of the Darien area. We also enjoy bringing the kids down with their friends to fish, swim, ride bikes, and canoe.

Our favorite places to go and eat are B&J's in Darien, which have the best fried shrimp around, and Willie's Weenie Wagon in Brunswick for their fish sandwich, fries, and sweet tea.

Why Cindy Irwin chose Coastal Georgia

Jeff is from this area and in 1989 we were married in the old Presbyterian Church in Darien. This was my Mother's home and is where we had our wedding reception. We wanted to keep the home in our family to be able to enjoy the beauty and fun of this community and area. We also wanted our children to experience this special part of Georgia.

What makes this house unique

There is a deep hole right below the dock where the fishing is often tremendous! In fact, it's common for folks to travel some distance by boat to fish here. In addition, porpoise feed here on most low tides and manatees are sometimes seen during the summer.

Great house with fantastic views!

  • 5 of 5

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Irwin's! The house has a great layout! The views from the house, the deck and the dock were phenomenal. We saw dolphins feeding in the river almost daily. We saw alligators in th small pond up the road and stingrays in the river when we took the canoe out. We were able to fish and crab off the dock at the house and the public dock which is a short walk down the street. We can't wait to plan our next visit!

Wonderful, quiet area. Comfortable house with extremely well-equipped kitchen and usable layout. Neighborhood that is great for bike rides, long walks, and beautiful scenes of old oaks and draping moss. Lovely!

What a Relaxing Time

  • 5 of 5

We spent 22 days on this wonderful property. The fishing was great and we brought home lots of Red Drum. Loved the peace and quite of the neighborhood and the neighbors were very nice. It is a dog friendly community. Cindy was so nice to deal with and if there was a problem she took care of it right away. The chair lift was a life saver and we loved the porch. We will rent again!

Wonderful Coastal Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family has stayed in many great VRBO properties but this was our best and favorite experience. The attention to detail and provisions of all kinds made us feel welcome and comfortable. In addition to bikes, kayaks and other amenities, the owners provided excellent information about local restaurants and interesting places to visit in the area. The screened in porch afforded beautiful views of the marsh - we watched a fascinating roseate spoonbill fly over one morning. We came home with delicious sea trout caught right off the dock. This a special coastal retreat and we definitely plan to return!

Another Great Trip!

  • 5 of 5

Once again my family stayed at this lovely home! And once again we had a fabulous time!! I can't say enough great things about the owners (how they go out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself), to the location (great for visiting other coastal GA locations), to home itself (beautiful scenery and great fishing spots). We plan to return!!

Beautiful place for relaxation and kayaking!

  • 5 of 5

This is a fabulous house that is nicely decorated and well furnished.... could not ask for more! We enjoyed our day on the marsh in the kayaks, and loved sitting on the screen porch watching it rain! Perfect place for that quiet get-a-way that we all need! Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place!
