About Rob Florian

Our family purchased this property to supplement parent's retirement. We are from the Grand Rapids area, and have spent much of our lives vacationing on the sunset side of the mitten!

Rob Florian purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Rob Florian chose Crystal Mountain, Thompsonville

It is truly a four season property. Winter is for skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Spring and fall there is fantastic fishing right out the door. Summer time we enjoy canoeing, kayaking, hiking and camping. Fall is the time to enjoy the beautiful colors as the trees prepare for winter! There is always something to do within a few minutes of the property.

What makes this cabin unique

The Betsie river is just steps away in the back yard!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Great cabin on a great river. 5 of us stayed for 3 days with plenty of room. Cabin is clean and comfortable and on a great stretch of the river. The owners are great to deal with and we highly recommend this cabin.

Quiet and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (also with two small dogs) had a great week here! Everything we needed was made available and the cabin is beautiful. We enjoyed the fireplace during this time because it was cold out during our stay and snowed most days. This location is close to Frankfort, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City. Crystal Mountain ski resort is only a few miles away! The owners are wonderful and keep in good contact if you need them for anything. Our family recommends this vacation spot. Nice and quiet, beautiful woods and river setting.

My family had a wonderful time at the cabin. The river is beautiful and the cabin very private. Week of fishing and sightseeing was enjoyed by everyone. Campfire and starry skies every night. Great vacation spot!!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I'm so happy you enjoyed your time. It's funny you mentioned the stars, as it is one of the things that make the cabin magical for me. It is simply majestic up there at night. Thanks and come back anytime!

Cute cabin on a lovely river

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week at Woolly Bugger Lodge with our adult children and standard poodle. We canoed and kayaked, visited Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City and Crystal Mountain (right around the corner), antiqued, played games indoors and out and enjoyed the plentiful firewood and fire pit. The cabin is on a small rise on the bank of the Betsie River with a path and steps down to a dock. The cabin has a couple of kayaks to use and one of the paddles was missing. A phone call to the owners resulted in a new paddle overnight shipped so we had it available for the remainder of our trip. Thanks, Renee.

The upstairs sleeping was warm (no a/c), but with skylights, windows and fans it was okay. There are no close grocers, but there is a gas station/C-store about a mile away. We loved the T.V. room/porch and book and game library. My husband read three of their books in the week we were there. There is a gigantic charcoal grill that we used one evening. One morning we awoke to 47 degrees (in August), so we kicked up the furnace which kept us comfortable as well.
