Overseas is a family summer house that was originally built in 1927 and rebuilt in 1982. In 2014 it was totally renovated to a high standard and is now offered for holiday accommodation. Set in a superb location, Overseas perches on the hillside over Trebarwith Strand with great views of the sea. Just 300 metres from the beach and the South West coastal path this property is perfect for a summer seaside holiday and cosy winter hideaway.

The house is set over two floors, the ground floor features a living room with views up and across the valley, and out to sea, furnished for four people to sit around a cast iron electric stove (!) or at the oak dining table. The kitchen is small but very well equipped (including dishwasher and washing machine, fridge and separate freezer) and there is a modern shower room (with walk in shower, basin and heated towel rail and WC).

Upstairs are two pretty attic bedrooms, one with a king sized bed (and balcony overlooking the sea), the other a twin room with beds that can be pushed together to make double (and balcony looking up the valley). In the centre of the house there is a hall, which leads onto a suntrap veranda, where there is decking, a terrace garden, a BBQ and outdoor dining area to enjoy both the beautiful Cornish sunrise and sunset.

The décor reflects the origins and purpose of the renovated house. The walls are (mostly) painted crisp white keeping the rooms light and airy while the old Overseas lives on in the doors, the exposed eaves and artworks from the original family bungalow. The upstairs is carpeted while the downstairs has wooden floorboards, making it easy to clean after people come up from the beach or down from the coastal walkways!

The property provides comfortable accommodation for four people; it is best suited for a small family or one or two couples. It is not suitable for children under the age of five years. There are about 30 steps up to the property and although they are securely railed, care needs to be taken to supervise small children on them and on the deck. Unfortunately the steps make this property unsuitable for disabled visitors.

Changeover day is Friday during the peak season with flexibility at all other times and for short breaks (3 night minimum stay); please contact us for more information.

Towels: Each guest has a hand towel and a bath sheet. Please bring your own beach towels

Phone: There is no mobile reception in the house – a landline is provided for emergencies

Wifi internet is available – for general browsing, emails, What’s app etc. (not for downloading)

TV: Smart TV that can be used with BBC iplayer and a Netflix account provided for guest use. HDMI cable available to connect TV to laptops

Private parking for two cars

Electric (night storage) heating plus a cast iron electric stove for winter evenings

Cost of all utilities included in the rental price

Outside WC and shower for wetsuits, wellies and walking boots

No smoking inside the house and no pets allowed

Cautionary Deposit: £100 payable with balance and refundable after departure

What a fantastic cottage! 2 minute walk from the beach, wonderful views, high spec cottage, all appliances required for the week. Just a perfect family holiday. I would highly recommend.

Thoroughly recommendable property, just right for the four of us. Beautifully presented, spectacular views.. two balconies. I could go on. Wifi and Netflix saved the day when weather brisk. What a beach!

The beach at Trebarwith Strand is a short walk from the property. And there are two pubs within about half a mile - both serving food. There are several good sandy beaches within easy driving distance, Daymer Bay, Polzeath, Bude and Widemouth Bay to name but a few. Boscastle and Port Isaac offer fishing and sailing trips. Excellent golf facilities exist in nearby Camelford, Rock and Launceston. Cycle along the Camel Trail (cycle hire available in Wadebridge and Padstow). Visit the wonderful Eden Project, about 45 minutes by road. There are a host of tourist attractions all within easy reach for days out from Lands End to West Devon, and Bodmin Moor is only five miles away.

Art lovers will enjoy the many local craft centres and the Tate Gallery at St. Ives.

History addicts will run out of time before exploring all the churches and museums.

Literature fans can enjoy finding out about Thomas Hardy’s and Daphne du Maurier’s links with this part of the country.

Or you could just spend all day on the beach!

Cancellations by visitor - we urge guests to take a cancellation insurance policy. Cancellations must be notified in writing (email is acceptable). Payments already made by the guest will only be refunded if the dates can be relet. You are still liable to pay the balance due at the date required even if you cancel beforehand. We reserve the right to charge an administration fee of £20 for each refund made.
