A wonderful stay!
We loved this apartment, and we are so glad we stayed in Haarlem instead of busy Amsterdam as we did our last time in Holland. The neighborhood is lovely. There is a deli, a green grocer, a butcher, and a bakery right around the corner. Also a very nice cafe and lunch place. Walk a block to the canal and follow the lovely path to
the train station. Kiki is a lovely hostess. She helped us with our luggage up the steep staircase, and came back to help us back down when we checked out. That might be the only draw back for those seriously mobility challenged. We are in our 70s and have physical issues, but we did alright with the stairs. We plan t9 come back and stay again.
Very comfortable and quiet.
We enjoyed our stay. Away from noise but close enough to everything we wanted to see. Kiki was awesome by giving us info, making sure we were comfortable, and doing extra for us so we could enjoy our visit. We recommend this apartment to all. Very steep steps to the floor, but we handled it fine.
Smart to stay here vs Amsterdam
The apartment is in a lovely quiet neighborhood about 10 walking minutes from the train station. Many basic staples are provided and it is very clean. Very narrow staircase to go up if you had large luggage. Groceries, baking and restaurants are 2 minutes away. Getting into Amsterdam is very easy and a pass bought at the airport was a great decision. Kiki, the owner, is lovely and easy to contact. Definitely a must stay in Haarlem.
Kiki is very friendly and hospitable. Cute little apartment in a quiet part of town.
Very comfortable accommodations. Kiki is a most hospitable host. Would definitely stay here again.
Great location outside of Amsterdam...which is convenient by train. Apartment had nice kitchen/living area & bathroom has been updated. Would definitely stay again. Only reason for 4 stars was the stairs for access. We r in our mid 60's & were able to get luggage up the stairs but would caution anyone that has a physical issue to be aware of the stairs. Owner was very responsive to all r questions.
Thanks for the positiv review! Just a note for future guests: indeed our real dutch stairs are quite steep, for extra safety we placed handrails on both sides. And if you walk "sideways" like dutch people do, it is no problem. And we are always there to help you with the luggage.
We were a couple visiting Amsterdam but our preference was to stay outside the city. This was the perfect home... very nice and well maintained property in a nice quiet area. Just 10 minutes walk to the bus/train station and 20 minutes to Amsterdam on train. Kiki was very helpful and even arranged couple of bikes for free. It was a really good ride to the beach. Overall an excellent property!
A lovely place to stay with lots of features. To the beach or cycling through the dunes. Strolling through the city, which has been chosen to best shopping city of the Netherlands. A beautiful historic centre with the Market with the Bavo, Frans Hals museum, Teylers museum, canals etc. Not to mention many cosy terraces and dining options. Amsterdam is only 15 min by train. For years, Haarlem has been called ' klein Amsterdam ', but nowadays Amsterdam is called ' large Haarlem '
