Absolutely beautiful holiday destination

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of 4 adults and an 8 yr old, 6 yr old, 3 yr old and stayed at Shirley and Robert's house for one week from 30th July 2016. As soon as we arrived we knew we had struck gold with this house. It is spacious, bright, modern and comfortable with everything you could wish for. The gardens are huge, mostly consisting of sloping lawns, and the pool is stunning- large, clean, not too cold for any of us (around 26-27 degrees). The pool area has several dining areas, some in the shade, some under trees, and the whole place is quiet and completely private. We loved it and just wished we could stay longer!

We had to contact Shirley once during our stay, about something that was not at all urgent, and our query was dealt with within one hour (although we had not expected any response during our week!) by a local handyman.

We visited Sarlat en Canada and Domme (both very pretty but touristy) and spent most mornings swimming in the Dordogne and then retreating to relax by the pool. Altogether a fabulous week.

Beautiful house, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful property for a week in August. The house, pool and gardens are stunning and I do not think the photos on here do it justice. Shirley and Robert have thought about absolutely everything, the house is so well equipped - if there is something you think you need and it is not somewhere in the house I would suggest you probably don't need it.

The location of the house is great, with the beautiful Grolejac and its lake just 5 minutes away. And all of the other towns and villages we wanted to visit such as Castelnaud, Sarlat and Rocamadour are all easily reachable.

We were recommended lunch in nearby Nabirat which was fantastic. No menus, they serve whatever they have made and five courses for €13, just great authentic simple French food.

I would thoroughly recommend this house to anyone, you will not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay and we would be delighted to welcome you back again in the future. We are especially happy that you enjoyed your lunch in Nabirat - we went there this week & despite the fact the whole village was without electricity they still managed to deliver the most delicious meal!

Lovely rural French escape

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here as two families - 4 adults and 4 children aged 3-9. It is in a gorgeous part of France, loads to see (we visited Sarlat, Chateaux Beynac and Castelnau among other things). The house is very well equipped and the pool area especially is lovely, with so many different seating/relaxing areas. The pool is not heated and though 3 of the children were fine with it in hot weather, 1 of the children found it too cold. It does cool down in the evenings and can be a bit cool in the mornings, but for part of our stay the weather was not quite as hot as normal. Once it got hot again it was warmer in the evenings. The house is very secluded, with no neighbours in sight, so it's very relaxing. We very much enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

C est magnifique

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in this glorious house. The photo's on the web site are very impressive but nothing can prepare you for the breathtaking views and the ambience of the place - it's simply stunning!.

The house and grounds are so beautiful and the owners, Shirley and Robert, have provided everything you could wish for to ensure a perfect holiday.

The pool is amazing and our young granddaughters spent many happy hours there.

The local area has lots to offer - picturesque towns and villages to visit, lakeside beach, canoeing, cycling and many good restaurants -- that is if you can tear yourself away from the house.

This is definitely a place to return to !,

Beautiful house in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

Photo's don't do this house justice, it's stunning, very private, peaceful, tranquil and picturesque. With lots of seating points to catch the sun or shade throughout the day and evening. Alfresco dinning was magnificent with barbeque and seating overlooking the lit pool at night. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished with a quirky edge. Our dog George was made as welcome as we were and loved wandering around the grounds in safety.

The area has a lot to see and do with great walks and cycle paths, with the highlights being kayaking down the Dordogne river and the lazy lunches in the many high quality, inexpensive restaurants and cafe's.

We will definitely come back with our extended family, with the house comfortably sleeping 3 couples and up to four children or 4 couples and two children.
