Why Mitzi chose Estes Park

Scenery and Serenity! Wildlife and wild flowers abound. If you want a get-a-way from the rat race and the noise of the city you have just found the perfect place - it doesn't get better than this! We are only minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park, yet only minutes from downtown Estes and all the shops and restaurants.

What makes this cabin unique

We are a legally licensed vacation rental home in Estes Park. We are legally required to collect and pay sales tax to the state of Colorado. However, since our property is located just outside the city limits of Estes Park, we are not required to collect and pay the Estes Park city sales tax, only the state of Colorado sales tax. This will save you money for a meal at one of many restaurants.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We received this email on 9/9/15 from our guests who had just completed their stay with us at Moose Mountain Lodge:

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for an amazing place to stay for our family vacation in the Rocky Mountains. Everything was perfect! well except for the Aerial Tram ride during rain, wind and clouds....but it was still quite a view :) The sky opened up with sunshine for the rest of that day so we enjoyed another hike and drive thru the mountains. thank you for the hiking recommendations Mitzi ...bear lake was fun for all of us, I think it took 3 hours to get to Emerald Lake because we kept stopping to enjoy the sights and take pictures.

We all want to go back, so don't be surprised if you hear from us again about wanting to rent your beautiful, cozy, heavenly mountain home!

A Sweet Blessing!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our 14 year old neice, and I enjoyed a beautiful week at Moose Mountain Lodge, May 31st - June 5, 2011. We have booked vacation homes through VRBO several times and have always been pleased, but Moose Mountain was among the BEST we've rented!

Our top priority when booking was "the view", and we were not disappointed - it was spectacular! The first evening we sat in the hot-tub on the back deck and watched a glorious sunset over the snow-capped mountain range. As we were getting out of the hottub just after dark, my neice spotted an owl in the top of a pine tree, "welcoming" us to Moose Mountain. That was the first of our wildlife viewing for the week. The next morning, we were thrilled to wake up and look out the wall of windows to see the mountains and watch deer grazing in the yard.

This home was immaculately clean when we arrived and obviously very well maintained. It is very well appointed with everything we needed for cooking some meals, doing laundry, watching movies, playing games, and of course, the hottub, as I mentioned! The location was ideal for our needs. We loved being "out" enough to have a view, but also the convenience of being able to run into town within a matter of minutes for restaurants and shopping. Rocky Mountain National Park is just a short drive (maybe 20 minutes?) away.

Just the three of us had way more than enough room in this house! We could have chosen a smaller home, but the ammenities at Moose Mountain were just what we were looking for and we're so glad we chose it.

We checked out on Sunday morning and had a two and 1/2 day drive back to Ohio. The day after we got home, we had our security deposit back in the mail! That impressed us!

Thanks, Randy and Mitzi, for sharing your beautiful mountain retreat with us - it's surely a blessing too sweet to keep to yourselves!

Moose Mountain Lodge Exceeds Expectations

  • 5 of 5

After reading the reviews prior to booking we were excited and we believed we picked the right place for our vacation. MML exceeded those expectations. The mountain views are incredible and the wildlife outside our windows was amazing. The home is equipped beyond all descriptions from the cooking utensils down to the board games. The hot tub was especially relaxing and the views from there- again, incredible. The acreage is very quiet, yet close to the National Park and the downtown shops and restaurants. If you are going to Estes Park, this is the place to stay - hands down.

Special Winter Lodge

  • 5 of 5

This home provided us with a special Christmas vacation. The fireplace kept the great room warm while we cooked and our ate our Christmas meals. The home was clean and nicely decorated and the kitchen was fully equipped. The views from the great room windows were way beyond our expectations and provided the perfect backdrop for our Christmas tree. The highlight was the hot tub. There were some windy days but we took advantage of the nice days to soak in the water. The view from the hot tub is special.

Great Place to Stay in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

My family spent a great winter weekend in Moose Mountain Lodge. Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park are beautiful but our vacation was highlighted by our vacation home. What a great place. The home is cozy and warm on the cold winter nights, the views and wildlife around the home were unbelievable and the we had a great time in the fresh and clean hot tub - while it was snowing - something that we cannot do in in Austin. Thank you Randy & Mitzi for your great hospitality. We will definitely be coming back!

Top of the World - Best Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Here are 10 reasons why Moose Mountain Lodge is the best place to stay in America (much less Estes Park):

1. Views - spectacular from the house, the hot tub and area around the cabin.

2. Ambiance - warm, cozy, comfy and cabin feeling. A beautiful home - just want you want when on vacation.

3. Wildlife - If you want to watch herds of elk and deer from the front window, this is the place to go.

4. Hot tub - clean, warm with unbelievable views. Great to use after snow shoeing in the park.

5. Furnishings - stainless steel appliances, full set of cookware, dishes, glasses and utensils.

6. Cleanliness - flooring, bathrooms, showers, tubs, sinks, hot tub - sparkling clean.

7. Great room - fireplace to stay warm on a cold winter night; leather reclining sofas; large window wall for spectacular views of the mountains and wildlife.

8. The beds - very comfortable with quality bedding.

9. Serenity - very quiet and peaceful neighborhood.

10 Proximity - close to the national park, restaurants, grocery store and shopping.

Our only complaint is that we could not stay longer. We will definitely be back. This is not only a great place to stay but an experience!

Words Cannot Describe This Incredible Place

  • 5 of 5

Friends recommended Moose Mountain Lodge. They described this as an incredible vacation home. Taking their advice I took my family for a long winter weekend at Moose Mountain Lodge. This home is incredibly beautiful, inside and out and was even better than our friends described. We soaked in the hot tub each evening after snow shoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park. The view from the hot tub and the great room is spectacular. Mitzi and Randy were incredible hosts and went out of their way to make our stay the best vacation ever. The home is incredibly warm and cozy, immaculately clean, tastefully decorated with comfortable beds, fully furnished with full set of cooking and baking utensils and dishes. Then there is the wildlife. We saw a full herd of elk right outside our windows; a bobcat chasing a rabbit; and two mule deer claiming the area under the porch deck as full time residents. The area is very quiet and serene yet close to the National Park and only 10 minutes from the restaurants and shops. There cannot be a better place to stay! We will definitely be coming back
