Why Mitzi chose Estes Park

Scenery and Serenity! Wildlife and wild flowers abound. If you want a get-a-way from the hustle and noise of the city you have just found the perfect place - I doesn't get better than this! We are only minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park, yet only minutes from downtown Estes and all the shops and restaurants.

What makes this cabin unique

We are a legally licensed vacation rental home in Estes Park. We are legally required to collect and pay sales tax to the state of Colorado. However, since our property is located just outside the city limits of Estes Park, we are not required to collect and pay the Estes Park city sales tax, only the for the state of Colorado. This will save you money for a meal at one of many restaurants.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We received this email on 9/9/15 from our guests who had just completed their stay with us at Moose Mountain Lodge:

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for an amazing place to stay for our family vacation in the Rocky Mountains. Everything was perfect! well except for the Aerial Tram ride during rain, wind and clouds....but it was still quite a view :) The sky opened up with sunshine for the rest of that day so we enjoyed another hike and drive thru the mountains. thank you for the hiking recommendations Mitzi ...bear lake was fun for all of us, I think it took 3 hours to get to Emerald Lake because we kept stopping to enjoy the sights and take pictures.

We all want to go back, so don't be surprised if you hear from us again about wanting to rent your beautiful, cozy, heavenly mountain home!

The property was everything we expected and more!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I felt this house would be perfect for us, our 15 yr old son, my brother and sister in law and my mom. We were so right! It was perfect and our group enjoyed every minute of our stay. The views from both porches were spectacular! The home was cozy and we can't say enough good. The best place I've ever stayed in Colorado in all the years we've been going.

The Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at Moose Mountain Lodge to find it extremely clean and welcoming. The spacious cabin is well equipped with complete kitchen essentials. The furniture and beds were all of excellent quality and comfortable. Situated just minutes from town, but yet in a remote, beautiful setting, we enjoyed peaceful times at this cabin. Trekking out daily we hiked to Chasm Lake, Bear, Dream, Nymph and Emerald Lakes. We visited scenic Sprague Lake and hiked to Alberta Falls and kayaked on Lake Estes. We drove up Trail Ridge Road and climbed to the top. On rainy days we shopped in town. Our favorite shop was Patterson's Glassworks. We enjoyed a free live demonstration in the art of glass blowing. We ate at the Himalayan Cafe, Smokin' Daves and Baba's Gyros and Burgers and sipped coffee from the KIND Coffee shop as we took the river walk into town. In the late afternoons we enjoyed the front porch swing and watched as the Mule Deer roamed the yard. We marveled at the night sky as we soaked in the hot tub every evening. This cabin was like home away from home, but even better!

Good Family Fun

  • 5 of 5

The weather and cabin were great. Our family met here from WY, WA and KS for a week of fun and rest. Our first time in the area and no regrets. Cabin was very spacious, everything as advertised (maybe better), very clean, easy to find, and in a great location. Very close to Estes Park or RMNP. The wildlife and mountain views were great. Early morning coffee and evening cocktails were very enjoyable in the mountain cabin setting. The owners were very easy to work with and very responsive and attentive to details. We ranged from grandparents to small grand children in age and all our wants and needs were met. Plenty of space and separate sleeping and bath areas. We even used the public playground just a few blocks from the cabin. I would not hesitate to return for a quiet couple get away or a family get together. Thanks for the memories.

Wonderful Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was all you could ask for at a very reasonable rate. The views and wildlife were great to watch while having our morning coffee. The home is very spacious and really gives you the feel of being deep in the mountains but you are only minutes from downtown Estes. Great location! Communication from the owners was great as well. We will be sure to come back our next time out to Estes. Thank you.

A Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very welcoming after a long road trip from Texas and felt at home in no time! Very spacious and offers everything you can ask for from a hot tub to a ping pong table. Nestled in a neighborhood very close to town, you still get that secluded felling and wonderful views out the oversized windows. Almost guaranteed to see wildlife just roaming outside so have your camera ready! Location is literally minutes from downtown Estes Park and a very short drive to RMNP. I look forward to our next visit to Estes Park and booking this property would be my first priority when planning trip.

Picture Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

What's not to love about this glorious, picture-perfect cabin and location?!? The cabin sits perfectly further up in elevation and a perfect distance from Estes Park and the National Park. A quick drive from the cabin got us to fabulous shops, adventures and site-seeing. At the cabin, as soon as we stepped foot onto the expansive porch and opened the front door to the open kitchen, dining room, and beautiful living room with stone fireplace, we knew the vacation was going to be perfect and relaxing.

The ping pong table and hot tub were the original deciding factors for choosing this cabin, but we were pleasantly surprised by the other accommodations (such as an extensive book library and board games) for ensuring the stay will be a perfect family get-away. The lodge was immaculately clean, comfortable and the amenities such as washer/dryer, 3 bathrooms, kitchenware, etc. added to the relaxing factor of the vacation.

Our first night there, we didn't think of turning up the thermostat on the heater. Even though it was snowing outside, the fireplace and blower on the fireplace kept the entire cabin comfortably warm. Speaking of snow - who can resist a feeling a gentle snowfall while sitting in the hot tub on the back deck while gazing at the stars & the mountains as mule deer travel through the yard? Magical is all I can say about this cabin!
