Nice apartment in a lovely location
Our family of four enjoyed this apartment so much. David was very helpful with anything we needed, including setting up our taxi. The location is great, looking out on a tree lined square just next to the Prinsengracht. It was very convenient to one of the tram lines, too. It was clean and spacious, a great place to rest after exploring.
Stay here for sure; To see the tulips @ their best, come in April
This second floor(of 3)apartment in a old building of attached 3 story apartments was in a quiet, upscale part of town. The manager David was lovely, awaiting our arrival with keys, paperwork & a happy, pleasant manner that seemed typical of the people of Amsterdam. We appreciated the welcoming manner as well as the supplies left including paper products, dish, dishwasher & washing machine detergents, instant coffee & tea & spices. The Krups coffee machine worked well as did all of the appliances. The living room front windows overlook a brick park/square where children play soccer much of most days yet it's a quie, upscale location. Someone nearby plays piano beautifully, musicians can be sern & heard in the square? On Mondays when we were there,it became a flower market. I'd always wanted to see the tulips here & arrived the last weekend that The Keukenhof Tulip Gardens were opened( May 21). The Keukenhof site doesn't tell you that it cuts the fields down near the end of April & there was not much left to see May 20. I'd highly recommend this apartment.
Great place! Great location!
Overall comfortable place for 4. Very steep stairs at entrance but I'm guessing that's typical for a lot of houses in Amsterdam. Location on the Prinzengraft canal is ideal. Many restaurants around the corner, easy access to the grocery and the #4 tram from the train station. Definitely recommended. Property manager, David, also very easy to work with.
We were two women traveling to Amsterdam, and decided that an apartment rental would give us more room and be more comfortable than a hotel. I did a lot of research and this apartment was our #1 choice on our short list of about 10 locations. The owner was exceptionally quick to respond (not always the case) and very friendly via our email correspondence. (By comparison our #2 choice finally responded while I was finalizing the details on this rental.) All the rental details were handled easily. For those from the US, they accept the security deposit in dollars (cash) rather than Euros, which saved us a lot of hassle (and lost money in conversions).
The apartment is wonderful. Up just one flight of steps! (While I live three flights up in San Francisco, the first look at Amsterdam steps was *very* daunting.) The apartment is very comfortable with lots of natural light, comfy living room and great kitchen. Further, there is a park across the street which has large, leafy trees surrounding, making our view a heavenly sylvan setting (and watching the kids play soccer was our evening "entertainment"). Bottom line: the ambiance is wonderful.
The neighborhood is great. Walking distance (about 10-15 minutes) to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gough museum. Just around the corner was the 4 tram which went to Dam Square and the rail station. We made day trips to The Hague for the Mauritshuis (a don't miss when in Holland) and to Haarlem for the Frans Hals museum. There are loads of neighborhood restaurants just steps from the apartment (hint: rezzies are needed on weekends). A good sized grocery is just up "Church Street" a ways. We usually ate lunch out and snacked when we got "home."
David (who handles the checkin/checkout) was attentive and timely. If you are going back to Schiphol upon leaving, ask him to book your transport to the airport. €30 (when we visited) was an excellent price.
We stayed a week and loved every minute. For us it was a pilgrimage of sorts: I love art of the Dutch Golden Age. We tucked into every bit we could. With a dollop of Van Gough on top!
Friendly and fabulous
We stayed at Louise and family's beautiful apartment for 2 weeks with 2 teenagers. It was as lovely as it looks in the pictures, with tall ceilings and lots of light. It was clean and everything went exactly according to plan. David met us and looked after our luggage as we were a bit early. He let us in early and there was some food to welcome us which was much appreciated. The area is quiet and friendly but still well located to easily get to all the Amsterdam tourist attractions and you don't feel you are missing out on the fun of Amsterdam as the neighbours are really friendly and welcoming. Our hosts couldn't have been nicer giving us lots of helpful information. The apartment is well appointed and we ate in most nights and found the kitchen easy to use. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom is nice. We can't fault this house and would very happily have stayed longer. We hope we can come back one day. We loved Amsterdam and this was a big part because of our hosts and their lovely home.
Peaceful and Charming
We stayed in this lovely apartment during our stay in Amsterdam. It is located in a quiet area of town, which is a gift after a long day of sight-seeing. The Amstelveld hosted a beautiful flower market and antiques market during our visit. The apartment had everything we needed for a family of four. The hosts were gracious and helpful. We highly recommend this apartment rental.
