Situated in the Picos de Europa National Park, Molino la Fria boasts an extensive garden with fruit trees, terrace, and a play area for children.
This 18th century mill house is spread over two floors, the joint living and kitchen area includes TV, oven, microwave. There is a separate laundry room.
The house has one twin and two double bedrooms, one of them with en suite bathroom. There are three bathrooms in total equipped with a bath tub and hairdryer.
Bullon river runs through the grounds of the mill, creating a small natural pool where bathing is possible in the summer. The property also offers barbecue facilities.
The surrounding area is popular for hiking, cycling, horse riding, rafting, kayaking, as well as other activities. The famous medieval market town of Potes is just ten minutes drive away, the Cantabrian sea coast is approximately twenty five miles away and the capital city Santander is about one and a half hours away by car.
The mill has been in my family for generations although it was in ruin when I restored it several years ago.
I have a family and my children love it there when on holidays.
I live in Palma de Mallorca and my mother and brother look after the house and guests, my brother Alfonso speaks perfect English and will greet you when you arrive.
A fantastic location for visiting the Picos de Europa. We loved feeling in the middle of nowhere and yet being ten minutes from the town of Potes with its lovely restaurants and supermarket.
We enjoyed having our own river and mini waterfall, but we found it rather too cold for swimming! We used the local campsite for a swimming pool and had a wonderful afternoon at the Spa de Picos which we stumbled across when walking near the Hotel del Oso Cosgaya.
The bedrooms are well set out and the house facilities are fine although the kitchen is rather limited. We would have liked a bigger oven and dishwasher.
The family are extremely attentive and helpful, even helping us drive our car up the steep driveway upon leaving as our car had overheated!
We greatly enjoyed a relaxing break.
What a cool space. Tucked away down a steep driveway off the small local highway, we might as well have been five miles from the nearest road. No street noise, no disturbances. A very interesting old stone structure, refurbished and able to accommodate five of us very comfortably. The kitchen was small by American standards, but well equipped and fine for our needs for a few days. The kids loved swimming in the swimming hole in the stream that runs right by the house. Potes, about 5 miles away, was filled in late July with visitors from around Spain, but not too many apparent foreigners. The mountains are spectacular, the cable at Fuente De a death-defying experience for those of us not fond of heights, but the walk through the mountains filled with sheep and goats and bulls and cows was so worth the fright! The master bedroom leaked during a rain storm, but it did not fall on the bed and Gemma's mother said they intended to get it fixed soon when a repair person was available.
Great area for hiking, cycling and nature walks amongst a great variety of other activities. Medieval villages, churches and buildings will no doubt be of interest. You will be spoilt for choice.
