I grew up in Nice on the Cote D'Azur before moving to the United States , I have travelled extensively having lived in South America & Switzerland. I currently call home London but throughout my travels I was always drawn back to the beauty of the vineyards of St Emilion & the grace of the city of Bordeaux.
Sonia purchased this farmhouse in 2012
I spent years looking for the right property in the Gironde which would exude the charm & character of the area combined with the perfect location.
I knew we would fully renovate the property with the principle being to add modern comforts while retaining the historical character of building.
This restored farmhouse has been done with taste and style to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The house is large and roomy with all of your modern creature comforts considered. Saul and Sonia were very communicative before and during the stay and even went as far as to help us with misguided luggage from the airline by contacting the airline on our behalf and removing the language obstacle.
The house is ideally located for day trips into the surrounding areas for great restaurants, wineries and sightseeing. Sonia has prepared a wonderful local guide that answered the questions about the house, market suggestions as well as a great history on the house itself.
If you ever wanted to stay in a French farmhouse, eat well, relax and enjoy great wine this is the place!
Our stay at this amazing french farmhouse close to St Emilion was fabulous.
If you are a lover of fine wine, fresh food produce and stunning scenery this is the place to stay.
Clearly the property has been very carefully and passionately restored, with due consideration of its architecture and heritage.
The property is fantastic to share with family and friends, with all the comforts of a five star retreat.
The owners ensure the property is handed over in pristine condition upon arrival with all the essential accessories that you wouldn't expect in a self catering property.
The owner's attention to detail within this property makes it a wonderful place to stay.
We spent the time here with our two adult sons, had a wonderful holiday and have great memories of this real gem of a french farmhouse!
Look no further for your dream vacation home. This farm house is absolutely perfect. It is a historical property that has been immaculately renovated to preserve its charm but also provide the modern amenities that you are used to. Just as important, the hosts are very welcoming and conscientious in making sure all of your needs are met. We are already planning a return visit!
Sonia and Saul have a wonderful home that they have very lovingly restored, located in a village surrounded by the vineyards of St. Emilion and Pomerol. It was a joy to come home after exploring the area and enjoy a glass of wine in the garden pavilion. Our hosts went out of their way to ensure we could take advantage of all that the area has to offer, even delivering a pre-programmed GPS for us to use. Their recommendations for meals, visits and day trips were perfect and very helpful in making our plans. Their house however exceeded all our expectations and we would not hesitate to recommend it.
We loved the house so much we returned with family members. The property has been updated throughout, with a careful eye not to detract from the historic feel of the building. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and everyone adored their bedrooms - they were clean and the interior design is charming. Each room has these large classic European windows that let in an optimistic light throughout the day. The house is the perfect base for enjoying one of the most beautiful regions of France. It is good value for money for a premium property. Highly recommend....
In an already beautiful part of France this house this house stands out
as by far the best home we have ever rented for a family holiday. When
you arrive it has a jaw dropping charm from the moment you drive in to
the enormous traditional tithe barn. The house has been lovingly
renovated incorporating some incredibly tasteful décor which adds to the
ambience of the hand cut limestone building.
The kitchen area has been charmingly finished & is enormous which is
great for large family meals cooked from the food purchased from the
local open air markets of Libourne & Perigeux, whilst enjoying the
wonderful wines gathered from our daily trips to the local vineyards
surrounding St Emilion & Pomerol.
The bedrooms are all very comfortable & spacious each with their own
enchanting personality. The master bedroom is grand to say the least
with an adjoining bathroom that really gives the house that luxury
The house had everything that I and my family needed from espresso
machines to baby equipment. I have to mention the favourite part of my
stay was the candle lit dinners outside in the garden pavilion over a
fine glass of wine with my family, it was simply beautiful & wonderful
to see my family & friends so relaxed & happy.
Lastly the area is stunning & the house is perfectly situated for
touring the region, we would strongly recommend a day trip Sarlat, a
trip on ferry over to the Medoc to visit some of the chateaux & lastly
the cognac tasting in Cognac was very memorable. One other
recommendation is to try some of Sonia’s restaurant recommendations in
the vineyards near the house, the settings will take your breath away
let alone the food & wine !
It is probably obvious we will be planning a return trip.
