Dreams do come true! We enjoyed a wonderful week UPNORTH. Such a beautiful place....so relaxing and peaceful. It definately soothes the soul. We thank you for sharing your special home with us and look forward to coming again.
My husband and I are from Scottsdale, Arizona and stayed for three weeks at the end of August at this beautiful cottage. We were greeted by our most gracious hosts Janine and Dan and what a wonderful time we had! It's a perfect location. Less than thirty minutes to everything you want to see "up north": Traverse City, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Arbor, Leland, Suttons Bay, and many more. Unexpectedly, we found many great places quite close to our new home. I'm a hiker and I thought I would be driving to many of those locations to hike but I found myself just a couple of minutes away from the beautiful Lake Ann Trail. I spent most days there hiking. It's so unspoiled and wild and practically right outside the door! My husband and I also enjoyed walking to the village of Lake Ann for dinner at the Stone Oven, coffee at the local coffee shop, or shopping at the general store (their motto: “if we don’t have it, you don’t need it”…so true). It's the kind of town we all want to live in. We loved kayaking (in the provided kayaks) on the calm and peaceful Lake Bryan in the early evening (at dusk which seems to last forever that far north). My husband is a bicyclist. He rode his bike on the many roads around the area (he says there is a really good map available from the local bike club mapping all the bike routes). He says that it’s the best riding he’s had in the US (and he’s been riding for 40 years). The cottage itself is absolutely amazing. It's bright, comfortable, very well designed and decorated with everything you will ever need. It’s cozy and comfortable. The only downside is that we were very sad to leave! All-in-all, a 5 out of 5 stars! We would love to come back every summer.
Our thoughtful and personable hosts, Jeanine and Dan, were there when we arrived and gave us a brief tour and general information. The light-filled home is simply beautiful, and it is very comfortably furnished. We've rented a number of vacation homes and none has been better provisioned. From kayaks and linens to soaps and spices, this home has it all. The open and airy kitchen has plenty of food prep stations, plus every pot, pan and gadget we needed. We were pleasantly surprised to find the air conditioner kept us cool when the temperature was over 90 degrees. Other days, the ceiling fan, numerous windows and tall shade trees did the trick. Bryan Lake and the Lake Ann area are a great base for all of our favorite up north activities. We'll be back next summer to kayak the Platte and Crystal Rivers, climb the dunes, play on the beach at Frankfort and search for Petoskey stones.
We had an awesome vacation. The cabin was beautiful. Nothing was rundown or second hand. This is the 3rd year my family have been renting cabins up north. This one was by far the best. The paddle boat and kayaks were fun and our 9 and 4 year olds caught the most fish they ever had. Another great thing is the location. We hit the beaches in Frankfort, Empire, and Long Lake. Shopped in Traverse City and climbed the Sleeping Bear Dunes. All under a 30 minute drive from the cabin. Great value for the price. Hope we can come back next year.
We had another great stay at Dan and Jeanine's home. The house is always very clean and well kept. My boys and I both enjoyed the new addition of the kayak's to spend time on the very quiet and calm Lake Bryan. The owners are both very pleasant, helpful and easy to deal with. My parents liked it so much they had to come spend some time again with us. Great area that is located short trips away from where you can go which include Traverse City, Interlochen, Moomers, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Cherry Bowl Drive Inn and Lake Michigan just to name a few. Very happy every time we stay. Thanks Dan and Jeanine for providing such a great place to get away to!
I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. The owners were great to deal with. The house was spotless, in like new condition and had everything we needed. The lake was quiet and perfect for the kids to swim, fish and boat. Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, Empire and many other day trips close by.
