Dorida Villa Rental Photos and Description

4 +1 Bedroom, 4 bathroom, Swimming pool, Panoramic sea and mountain view

Nafpaktos. Situated on the north shore of the Corinthian gulf, it is one of Greece's most naturally beautiful locations. The landscape combines both mountainous terrain covered in rich vegetation on the north side, and to the south, a long coastal shore boasting numerous amazing shallow-water beaches with turquoise-blue waters. As if this was not enough, the area is surrounded and bound by ancient history. The city of Nafpaktos itself has a long history leading back to before the ancient Peloponnesian wars, and its castle-fortress is one of the best preserved in Greece. A plethora of historical sites surround this area at every step, almost towards any direction. Only a few kilometers to the east, up in the mountains lie the ruins of the ancient temple of Delphi. The oracle that presided there in ancient times was considered the most important in all of classical Greek history, and visiting is a ''must'' even in modern times...

The villa itself lies 13 km from the city of Nafpaktos, and 500 meters from the sea, overlooking the village and beach of Skaloma (approx. 2 min drive away). When raising your sight, you will behold the mesmerizing Corinthian gulf’s twinkling waters washing up on the proud Peloponnesian mountains.

Villa ART is a two level villa consisting of two homes; ART 1 on the ground level, and ART 2 on the upper level. ART 1, has an open plan living room with comfortable sofas and furnishings; an indoor dining area for six; a fully-equipped kitchen; and large French windows leading to the garden which offers a spectacular sea view. There are two double bedrooms; the spacious Master Bedroom leading to the garden with wonderful sea views; and a second double bedroom also with views to the sea and the garden.

ART 2 is spectacularly positioned on the upper level with panoramic views right out over the Gulf of Corinth and Patraikos. Upon entering, the large open living areas strike the eye first with elegant and comfortable style and décor. The impressive dining table for 10 guests lit by beautiful hand-blown colorful glass lamps leads to a very stylish modern kitchen. Vast glass doors lead to the terrace which boasts spectacular views over the sea. The Master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and French windows leads to a balcony overlooking the garden. Across the hallway is the 2nd double bedroom also with a very spacious en-suite bathroom. This bedroom view overlooks a quiet corner of the garden shaded by ancient olive trees with lovely glimpses of the sea through the trees.

Throughout the decor is elegant, stylish and comfortable; The owner’s artistic flair is evident through large modern artworks on the walls and interesting touches such as the hand-built tables made out of beautiful antique reclaimed doors.

Outside, is where you will probably be spending most of your time, and rightfully so. The extra-large lawn garden, complete with a variety of trees and flowers, is perfect for strolling, child’s play, or even dining on the stone table while enjoying the extraordinary view. The swimming pool is just the thing when you need to cool off before lounging on the sunbeds, built-in sofas, or getting the barbeque started.

Although you will be hard-pressed to leave this magnificent property, its location is perfect for exploring the immensely interesting surrounding area. There are more than enough activities, historical and cultural attractions, and sites to satisfy even the most demanding guest. Several lovely beaches, fresh fish taverns, archaeological/historical sites (Delphi, Olympia, city-fort of Nafpaktos etc), watersport and fishing activities, are within a short driving distance. You may not like to move a finger during your holidays, or you may be the sort of person who can’t stay still; whatever the case, you will surely not be disappointed by this marvelous, all-encompassing villa and its location.

Stunning views from a beautiful villa

  • 4 of 5

The view from the villa and garden is the first thing that struck us on arrival. ....absolutly beautiful: with this and the interior matching up to the description and photos advertised.

The villa is thoughtfully decorated and well appointed. Great views from many of the rooms, especially the balcony of villa Art 2, and the master bedroom.

The owners, Kostas and Zeta, who met us on arrival were particularly hospitable, kind and generous. (Delicious home grown olives and olive oil!). Very quick to respond to any queries, and very thoughtful.

The traffic noise from the 'B' road which runs some way below the house was slightly noticeable at first, but after a few days did not deter from the peace of this place.

The villa worked perfectly for our two families; providing separate space for the teenagers when they wanted, and plenty of room for all of us to eat together under the old olive trees.

The beaches, though not very wide, and with a small road backing them, were clean and the sea clear, and we relished being almost the only foreigners there.

The largest supermarket is ten minutes drive, and within fifteen minutes we enjoyed trips to Nafpaktos, with castle remains, the old harbour, great fishmongers, bakeries and some lovely restaurants and cafes along the beach.

Other trips we enjoyed included a visit to Delphi; to monasteries in the mountains and to the little island Trazonia.

Our final meal at the fish restaurant recommended by Kostas and Zeta, in Monesterakki provided delicious dishes...and we were glad we had pre booked our table overlooking the sea.

Overall, this villa worked perfectly for us.... Definitly best to book both units which makes it great for large families or friends. It is a peaceful and untouristy area of Greece, and the villa lived up to our expectations.

Idyllic

  • 5 of 5

What can I say, just absolutely stunning. The villa was/is beautiful, the location very peaceful with breathtaking views of the sea and mountains. It is very well stocked with all amenities to cook and clean etc. Kostas and Zeta were wonderful, very helpful and always on hand to help with any issues we had. The lead up to the holiday was dealt with very smoothly and all enquiries were answered promptly. A car or cars is/are definitely recommended!! The beaches are beautiful, pebbled so prepare with your water shoes, but calm waters, Skaloma beach is the nearest and can easily be walked to, but is easier accessed by car, same goes for the other beaches in the area. Glifada is a must which docks the crossing boats to Trizonia Island. Give it a visit and see for yourselves what I mean. Monastiraki has a lovely little spot to eat and swim a little walk to the left (if you are facing the water) of the fishing port.

The nearest town is Nafpaktos, where you can get all your groceries, which is about a 20 minute car journey, give or take.

Overall the location is not touristy at all; a great place to get away from it all!

Thank you so much Kostas and Zeta, hopefully we will get a chance to come back and enjoy it all over again!!!

Simply fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much Kostas and Zeta for welcoming us so warmly and ensuring we had the best stay in Greece.

The villa is superb - cannot fault it in any way - all home comforts and more. Amazing views and idyllic settings in the ground that made our holiday extra special.

We hope to see Kostas and Zeta again very soon.

Our Top Tips:

Visit the island of Trizonia asap. So easy to get to and such a lovely place.

Last day - if you have a later flight in the day. You need to leave the villa at 10am so visit the water park in Corinth on the way back to Athens Airport. We were so grateful of this as extended our holiday a bit more and ensured we didn't waste the day. It's great value for money :)

Beautiful, stylish villa.Very accommodating owners

  • 5 of 5

We booked out both villas for 3 families. 6 adults and 6 young children. Very prompt correspondence to any queries prior to our departure. Very accommodating of our requests for cots for the babies. Nothing too much trouble for the owners.

The villas are beautiful, very tasteful decor and wonderful art work adorning the walls. Very well equipped kitchen. Lots of wonderful outdoor space.

Only negative for us was that the villas did not interlink but I guess this isn't an issue if you don't book both villas. We knew this before arrival so brought baby monitors so the adults could hang out together in the evenings.

Amazing views from the pool area.

Would thoroughly recommend.

Owner's Response: Hello again Laura, and thank you very much for your great review. It is very descriptive and detailed, and will surely be useful to us and future guests as well. I was with Mr Kostas and Mrs Zeta yesterday, and they were telling me that it was a true pleasure for them to welcome you and have you at the villa, how well behaved all your children were, and what nice families you were. We are of course delighted that you had a such a good time during your stay and we definitely hope to hear from you again soon, when planning your next vacation! Kind regards, Alex PS. For future guests: Regarding the two floors of villa ART (ART 1 and ART 2), they have separate entrances/exits, and are connected by an outside staircase and doors at the front and the back. The two floors (ART 1 and ART 2) are rented together as a unit.

Extraordinary villa, amazing owners!

  • 5 of 5

We can not say enough about our stay in this beautiful villa: first of all, the owners welcomed us with warmth and generosity and gave a real meaning to the expression "Greek hospitality". Second, the villa is well located, beautifully landscaped and offers stunning views on the gulf and mountains. Third, the inside is vast, very well furnished and decorated with style and elegance (namely with Kostas' art). Last, we had so much fun discovering this region: outdoor meals, drinks over sunsets, lazy afternoons in the pool, days at the beach, visits to archeological sites, dinner and shopping in town (Nafpaktos), etc. A gem of a holiday for a whole family.

Most beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

This villa has exceeded our expectations. Really. The photos that you see don't do it justice. We were a large group of 8 friends and so we needed a big house that would still allow for privacy to every memeber of the party. And this was just perfect. The house can also be rented easily by two families as it has 2 kitchens. Not only everyone had the privacy of the bedroom but there is a diversity of public areas as well. Different outside sitting areas either in the garden with a mountain view or by the pool. We rent a villa every summer but we have never come across a house as well equipped as this one. Everything you might possibly need to run a household is there. It's new, clean, done up with an excellent taste. It is located in a wonderful area that isn't overcrowded with tourists. And the big bonus are the most hospitable owners you'd ever meet!
