Our home is centrally located, near to the beach and mall and shopping areas. This house was lived in year-round for many years. It is in the secondary Victorian district. It has a charming screened porch, the coolest spot in town. Space includes four mid-large bedrooms, dining room, large living room, cozy kitchen, a full laundry room and 2 full bathrooms. First floor recently refurbished - now featuring lovely hardwood floors. Good sized yard with outdoor furniture, shower area and grill. Air conditioning, cable TV, wireless Internet access and local phone service, A long driveway provides off street parking for 3 cars. You can walk to all points of interest in Cape May.

Great value in a cool location...

I have rented this home in Cape May the last two years in a row now. There are two things that are really appealing about it. First, it is located 5 blocks from the beach, and they are short blocks, and about two blocks from the Victorian district. Because of where it is located, it puts you at an easy walk to the beach or the Victorian homes. Columbia Avenue, with its Victorian homes, is right around the corner. The Washington street shops are an 8-10 minute walk away. You can walk to dinner at the boardwalk or on Washington Street, and walk back to the home. Second, the owner is very responsive if you need anything. We had a question about one of the home's features the first year, and she answered the phone right away. The home also is older, and because of this has interesting features like nice hardwood floors and unique lattice-style windows in some areas. It has a bungalow feel to it, outside and with the floor plan. The living room, in particular, features a lot of room with two conversation pit areas, with a third conversation pit area right out on a screened front porch that connects to the living room area. The flow of this area is good. The dining room also is just off of the living room, and the wall is open between them, so people can sit at the dining table and talk to others in the living room. The back yard features enough room for kids to play in, and there is a barbecue there. We had two little ones with us that played wiffle ball and tag in the backyard. If you pull the various kitchen and dining room chairs together, you can seat 8 around the dinner table. I would recommend this home. It is a good value for the money. One of my favorite things to do at the house is to turn on the front porch light at night and read or talk to family, and listen to the horses and carriages turn down Jefferson in the early evening. The furnishings seem to be antiques in some bedrooms, but the living room is more modern. The open, large living room and open wall between the living room and dining room is great for kids - this area features a lot of windows that let in natural light. The house has WIFI and cable TV. The outlets are older, but there are 3-pronged plugs in many areas. Overall, a great deal for the money with a friendly owner.

Location, convenience and great owners

Being that this was my first time renting a vacation home I must admit I was a bit uncertain and skeptical at how the whole experience would turn out. I am happy to report that myself and the whole family had a wonderful experience and time in Cape May and at this home. I will try to summarize the pros and cons below:

-The owners were very professional, honest, courteous, and easy to deal with when working out the contract and arrangements

-Instructions provided before arrival were precise and comprehensive

-Communication/correspondence before, during, and after the stay was great

-Everything in the house was in operational order and as described

-Inclusion of linen and kitchen ware made things convenient

-Location is key at this place. It's an easy 4 block walk to a nice section of the beach. It's about a 10 min leisurely walk to the pedestrian mall where the main supermarket is located as well as the carriage ride.

-Small simple backyard provided for a private barbacue

Now for the cons:

-It's an older house so needs TLC when using. However everything works and they have everything you need.

-There is a clutter of things in the kitchen and closets so finding things is a bit confusing.

Overall, this was a great value for the price, location, convenience and the professionalism of the owners made all the difference.
