My wife and two daughters recently stayed here for a week. It was our first trip to Japan. We had a great time!
Like all holidays it starts with your accommodations. This house is wonderful and was perfect for the four of us. The location was really great. Near the park, two minutes from the train, and two grocery stores within five minutes walking. The portable WiFi device that is provided is a great add. We switched our phones to use the WiFi device and called friends and family back in America while seeing the city without incurring roaming charges. Finally Hisae was a great host. She met us on our arrival and helped with questions along the way. Thanks Hisae!
I did see the one review noting the street noise. I agree it is noticeable. We brought ear plugs and it was never a problem as a result.
Arigato Hisae! Cannot say enough good things. We will definitely stay here again. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Traffic noise was too much for us
The descriptions and the photos adequately described this property and our contact Hisae was friendly and reliable.
Considering that Tokyo is quite an expensive city, the price for this house which sleeps up to seven people, can certainly be called cheap. I don't mean to nitpick and the house really is quaint and offers a lot of bang for the buck. However, after spending one sleepless night because of the traffic noise, we decided to flee the property and moved to a hotel for the rest of our stay. Granted, we paid much, much more at the hotel...
We were aware of other reviewers mentioning the traffic noise. We live in the middle of a town in quite a noisy neighborhood and thought we were used to traffic noise. But the walls and windows of this property are paper-thin and the noise of the street was unbearable to us. Even during the day it was too present to ignore. So unfortunately I would not recommend renting this house. I still gave it three stars since the house itself offers a lot and other people seemed to be OK with the noise. But it comes at a price.
We are terribly sorry that the house could not meet your expectation. we really wanted you to stay, however we couldn't help you at that time. We apologize for it.
We totally understand the noise problem someone feel uncomfortable, however it is difficult to fix all windows and walls due to tight budget unfortunately. We have to try to find good solution in the future.
Again, thank you for booking this house, however we are so sorry that you couldn't stay.
The perfect house!
It was our first time in Tokyo and Hisae was so accommodating, friendly and welcoming. She walked us through the house and showed us how everything worked from the washer and dryer to how to separate trash. This 3 story house worked great for me and my 2 friends and we are all over 6 feet tall. Hopefully on our next trip to Tokyo this location is available.
Thank you for wonderful review!!
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay.
I had a fun time to talk with you when you arrived
Please contact us again when you come back to Tokyo!!
Thank you so much!
Authentic Japanese House
A very clean compact authentic Japanese House in a quiet part of Tokyo just seconds away from the Nezu subway station and minutes away from covenience stores. The house is well appointed. We travelled with our two teenage sons and although the house is small we had plenty of room. It is very conveniently located about 20 minutes walk from Ueno Park which contains the Zoo and many wonderful museums and Art galleries. I would highly recommend this.

Amazing location and such a comfortable place!
I highly recommend this place for two reasons: the location and the user friendly space in the house. The house is only 20 meters or less from the Chiyoda line/subway which we used every day to get around Tokyo. We got a suica card and just tapped in and tapped out of the subway. So easy and affordable. We would come out of exit 2, turn right and our VRBO was right there! Also there are two grocery stores on either side of the house which are only a 2 minute walk. Both grocery stores have lots of vegetables for cooking and also healthy ready made meals. Also along the block are vegetable and fruit stalls and a vegan organic store and restaurant. We cooked our food half the time and ate in restaurants the other half. Also in the neighborhood are Indian restaurants and coffee shops all within a 10 minute walk. Ueno Park is only a 10 minute walk and has two wonderful shrines, park areas and the best Starbucks in town because of the patio outdoor seating. Our sons walked every day to Akibahara so they especially enjoyed the convenient location.
As for the house, we loved it. It had heaps of space and lots of natural light from the floor to ceiling windows on all three floors. The beds were very comfortable and the the two separate lounge spaces were useful for us as they gave space for tv watching or conversation. The kitchen is easy to use and had all the items we needed.
We would happily stay here again!
Thank you so much for great review!!
We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay.
You explored almost all places around this house! As you feel, this area is really good to feel like Japanese normal life, not too crowded, not shopping area!

I am looking foward to seeing you next time!
Cute house in Tokyo
Our family really enjoyed our stay: it's an incredibly cute little house, with all the key stuff you need, and lots of good restaurants nearby (as well as multiple convenience and grocery stores). We particularly enjoyed the soba noodle shop that is more or less across the street (no English menu, but they had pictures and spoke enough English to manage, and the food was excellent). Ueno Park is an easy walk, with access to the zoo and multiple museums. There's a stop on the Chiyoda subway line right next door as well, which was greatly appreciated, and made it easy when we could setup our travels to use that station. That said, some destinations aren't always easily reached from that line; it all depends on where you're going in the city.
We also enjoyed the Japanese tub (particularly our son). We suggest following the normal Japanese process of washing first and then soaking, which was great after a long day of walking and exploring.
The reservation process was easy, and Hisae was a pleasure to work with.
As other reviews have mentioned, do be aware of the road noise, which can be significant at times; whether or not it's an issue depends on how sensitive you are to that sort of thing. In our case it bothered us some at first, but we got used to it within a couple of days.
Overall a great stay.
Yanesen is the collective name for the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi neighbourhoods. It’s a great area to explore on foot and see the remnants of the shitamachi atmosphere of good old Tokyo—the traditional Japanese townscape and the friendliness and hospitality of the residents living there—all in the heart of the metropolis. This course takes a stroll through the classic shopping street, the symbolic mud wall of Kannon-ji Temple, and a famous shrine and gardens.
